In the days of the “Fairness Doctrine,” my exposure to conservative (not just Republican) thought was limited to James Kirkpatrick on 60 Minutes‘ “Point/Counterpoint” segment that was lampooned on SNL by Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtin (“Jane, you ignorant slut!”), John Lofton, and whichever over-the-top lunatic Phil Donahue would dig up to balance his panel, such as a “men’s rights advocate” who would wear a skirt. Other than that, anyone right-of-center speaking forthrightly and intelligently at length was almost unheard other than on Sunday mornings, if you cared to get up early to watch. Most were misinformed by buffoonish strawmen in Norman Lear sitcoms like All in The Family, Maude, etc.

I’m sure that the other four panelists were shocked that Hasselbeck’s diet book debuted at #2 on the NYT Hardcover Advice Bestseller list. And pissed, because it means people actually listen to her.

What’s obvious is that AP has some real problems with Beck. Fair enough, but that colors his commentary (”Queeg-like demonstration”?) and renders his assessments suspect at best.

Yes. That has been readily apparent on a few subjects that he apparently doesn’t like. You read his comments, then you watch the video…then you wonder what the agenda is. The comments often do not at all reflect on the event.

He’s bold and brave alone with his mike. :)

Any conservative that agrees to go on one of these shows, whether it be this one, or Matthews, or any other propaganda organ for the democratic party, will never be allowed to have any more than 5 seconds of uninterrupted speech.

This was an ambush all the way, and Glenn’s not the person to call 4 women liars on a show he was invited to be on. However, these CLASSLESS women are ridiculous. He should have known he was going to be treated like trash. Personally, I think he should have went with them with both barrels, but he was in one of those positions where he’s trying to be nice, cordial, and wants to have a civil conversation with them about things that matter, and they’re attacking him about inconsequential things. His head was spinning so freaking fast…

What if AmTrak did get word that some Senator was going to need a seat and needed secret service protection. Then they did not get away in time and missed the train or something along those lines. Next Bawba and Whoops came in and sat down. And by the time they got there the conductor knew he couldn’t hold a seat any longer.

Why hasn’t anyone asked Amtrak to respond?

He already has a reputation among liberals on cable as a maniac. The fact is, he just refuses to tone down his radio act for TV. There weren’t too many people that cared when he was languishing on CNN Headline News. Now he’s on Fox kicking MSN-Bootay and has a target on his back.

Bad as it turned out, things would have been exponentially worse if he showed any genuine anger at the table.

Compared to the other three, Elisabeth is a child. … The wrinkly ones are using her to buttress their own sense of superiority… she should have moved out and up a long time ago.

I understand a lot of folks would disagree, but I’ve long thought she isn’t strong enough for that job, an almost impossible one for sure. She’s being used to lend the pretense of balance, to strengthen the authority of the wrinkly ones, and I wish she’d move on.

She didn’t like being mocked. Beck used his stupid mocking voice. That is maddening for someone to do that… but really… it isn’t like she hasn’t been mocked before.

What other explanation could there be, other than Walters-Goldberg had arranged for those seats to be saved for them. Walters was embarrassed to be caught at it, so she launched an offense against Beck as her best defense.

One of you people should explain to this poor guy that when you dig yourself in a hole, the first step is to stop digging!

Hey RightWinged, wipe the spittle off your mouth and get a grip. Our differing views, likes and dislikes and our ability to discuss it rationally are what sets this forum apart from most in the ‘sphere. So AP dose not like beck, he probably has a reason for it. I’ve been a fan of Glenn for years, but do not always like what he has to say. Writing someone off as stupid or or intentionally misleading just because you disagree is the tactic of the weasels, not the the humans.

But seriously damn, I didn’t think so many people would pick on Glenn over who came over to who. I could understand if he said he saved twenty kids from a burning fire but actually didn’t but come on.

Sadly, I don’t think anyone here can do a better job on The View. We’d be eaten alive. You need experience.

I was actually pretty surprised at how hostile Barbara was to Glenn on The View. It seemed like such a petty dispute for her to be so angry about. I don’t get what’s behind that. Seems like there’s more to the story.

The more to the story is that Barbara, Trump and O’Reilly are all good friends, they dine together and are out and about in the city frequently. And Glenn went and stuck his foot in his mouth.

I am sure O’Reilly will let him have it behind the scenes.
