Democrats pretty excited about errors found in CIA list on waterboarding briefings

This is almost too stupid to dignify with a post, but there’s an important point lurking here that needs reiterating. Remember: The only dispute as far as Pelosi is concerned is whether she learned waterboarding was going on in September 2002, as a member of the House intelligence brain trust (and as the Washington Post asserted), or five months later in February 2003 after she’d left the committee. There’s no dispute that she knew by the latter date, just as there’s no dispute that she said nothing about the practice upon finding out.

And yet the Democrats — who profess to care about this subject on the merits, and who therefore theoretically shouldn’t fret much about when she knew — are hot to circle the wagons and prove she didn’t find out until February 2003, not September 2002. That’s how principled their opposition is to “torture.”

Three new errors appeared to emerge in the CIA’s matrix of 40 congressional briefings on so-called enhanced interrogation techniques. Those techniques include waterboarding, a form of simulated drowning, which President Barack Obama has called torture.

The CIA acknowledged one of the errors but continued to stand by its version of events in the other two cases…

The CIA chart states that a Senate staffer, Chris Mellon, attended a briefing on July 15, 2004. However, Mellon told The Associated Press that he left the Senate in April 2004 and did not attend the briefing.

On Wednesday, CIA spokesman George Little said the CIA has reviewed its record and agrees that Mellon was erroneously listed as having attended the 2004 briefing…

On Tuesday, House Appropriations Chairman Rep. David Obey, D-Wis., said that one of his committee staff members was erroneously listed as attending a briefing in September 2006. The CIA stands by its record on that count.

How much more pathetic and embarrassing can this story get? This much.

Nanny Pelosi is charging that the CIA lied to the Congress of the United States.
She needs to prove her allegations or step down as Speaker.

From AP’s last link:

Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) is fully embracing his new party this week, working behind the scenes to bring back a union-organizing bill

When Arlen went over to the dark side, did you think really he’d stay a moderate?

Specter defends Pelosi, questions CIA’s honesty

Comming from a traitor that is rich. Spector is just trying to earn his obama points to be redeemed later.

The absolutely worthless, corrupt and incompetent Democrat Party has zero credibility, with anyone who has a single shred of sense.

NoDonkey on May 20, 2009 at 9:24 PM

She should stay right where she is. She’s a perfect albatross for the Democrats. I want her to stay out in front, babbling, obfuscating, and generally making a fool of herself.

DerKrieger on May 20, 2009 at 9:24 PM

Liberals excel at incompetence and their handling of Torture-Gate/Nancy-Gate/LollaPelosi has the hallmarks of a Case Study. This is the crowd that wants to lecture Conservatives on torture and America’s values, while heartily endorsing policies that are tantamount to infanticide. They want to save the planet, even if means destroying the U.S. auto industry. They want to prevent Iran from going nuclear by doing the very things that ensure it happens. They want to make us energy independent by ruining the economy with energy taxes.

They are clueless and pathetic. But I am enjoying this Pelosi thing.

Topsecretk9 on May 20, 2009 at 9:32 PM

She’s the one who cranked it up a notch when she said the CIA lied/mislead her. And I believe she followed up with “all the time”. These things can go into oblivion when they start analyzing the details of who was in what meeting and who said what. Her pathetic press conference is what took it to the point of no return.

I don’t have a president. Nor do I have a commander in chief as this Afghanistan buildup he crowed about during his campaign continues to be the worst executed and least supported operation I’ve ever been involved with in 33 years of service.

Please, to either Bush. Please come back and save us from this abject moron and his worthless administration.

hawkdriver on May 20, 2009 at 9:38 PM

Not saying the CIA is even slightly corrupt or anything, I think they have to be one of the most patriotic organizations out there, which is why the left in congress are so angry with them historically. Anyway, if I were that douchebag pelosi, I’d watch myself now. She just made a prime time enemy out of the absolute wrong people you’d want to have as enemies.

One of the details to be worked out, is exactly which flag Obama will be standing before.

“Specter defends Pelosi, questions CIA’s honesty”

Far be it for me to enjoy anyone else’s misfortune……..

……. but I am enjoying far too much the reality that Arlen Specter will spend the rest of his political career entering rooms where people stop talking, leaving rooms where people start talking, and basically walking the halls of power with little to no power to yield anymore.

My current wish, is for Nancy Pelosi to achieve this status…..

How is telling us they don’t attend CIA briefings on national security matters supposed to convince the public they are on the right side of the issue? It would be better to say, yes they did attend, but their hearing aid was broken at the time, or something.

Resolute on May 20, 2009 at 10:23 PM

How is telling us they don’t attend CIA briefings on national security matters supposed to convince the public they are on the right side of the issue?

I’d have a higher opinion of Pelosi if she didn’t attend hearings, never set foot in Congress and if she remained out of the country.

I’d vote to triple her salary. This woman has absolutely no business with anything that might even slightly put her in a position of influencing the lives of others.

Pelosi is a lying plastic buffoon, hopefully she’s toast. If the dems are worried about losing Reid in the Senate, they certainly need someone who might have some semblance of competence in the House, so bye bye Nancy.

OMG! The CIA might have lied. I’m shocked. How bout Pete Hoekstra (R) saying that the CIA lied in 2006? More and more reports are trickling out about the CIA mis-informing. So don’t get on your high horse too fast goopers. Senator Bob Graham has records of CIA “inconsistencies”. Hey, you want to go down the lying road, lets do it. Lets open up this can of worms and see what the war criminals Bush and Cheney were doing behind Congress’s back. Bring it on bee-atches! Show me what you got boyzees! This is deeply disturbing. I can find a lot of stories about ammunition shortages affecting police training in the U.S., but those stories blame the shortage on ammo going to Iraq and Afghanistan (and people who are afraid of challenges to 2nd Amendment). Can’t find anything on ammo shortages in the field of battle.

Does it help for us to contact members of Armed Services Committee? Saxby Chamblis of GA is my Senator and I’d be happy to call his office.

In addition to having the child king as C.O.C., it’s pretty scary that Carl Levin is the head of the Committee.

I also heard a report on the radio this morning that the Pakistani Army had recaptured a Taliban stronghold in the Swat valley with the assistance of American Special Forces.

Which begs the question: who ordered Special Forces into Pockyston, Bush or Obama?

Not that it’s a bad idea–even losing a few Special Ops guys would be better than letting the Taliban get its mitts on Pakistan’s nuclear weapons. But the MSM will never let out the dirty little secret to the sheeple on the left: Barack Hussein Obama is a WARMONGER !
