Actually that’s a typical progressive/liberal misconception and viewpoint. Progressives think that if what you say is offensive, you shouldn’t be allowed to say it. Conservatives generally believe that you can say it, but be prepared to defend it because we’ll call BS when appropriate and call you an idiot if you act/sound like one.

Progressives generally have such low self esteem that they find that position untenable, because that would mean they were constantly being forced to defend illogical positions instead of being able to just shout down the opposition.

You need to go back and read the names at the bottom of the list. In the “blogger poll” linked to on the same page, she came in second (after Jindal, who took first in both polls).

It’s all a matter of which “pundits” you choose to believe.

I think Bobby Jindal learned quite a bit from Sarah Palin’s first outing in national politics. She will take quite a bit of time to recover from the tactical mistake of trying to fight the enemy on their ground. She also identified for Jindal the “Benedict Arnolds” of the Republican party — the guys with the smiles on their faces and the knives in their hands. Jindal also has, obliquely, Obama as a mentor — for, after all, how many times was Obama on Hardball, and how many free-flowing pressers did Obama give? And, last but not least, he has that skin color that prevents a whole lot of racial finger-pointing by the Left.

That said, I think Sarah will recover, but not enough soon enough to be the top of the next ticket.

Humm. Was it not some of the same polling that gave us McCain in ’08? Didn’t McCain rise in the primary almost exclusively by becoming the favorite of the leftist media; i.e. the NYT endorsement?

I have developed a different way of evaluating candidates and polling data. In my method, Palin is showing far ahead of when the media wants us to think she is, and that is determined by the degree of venom with which the media and the rest of the left, including the RINO’s, attack and try to diminish her. IF they really thought she had no chance they would rush to make her the Republican candidate, believing that doing so would make a second Obama term an almost assured thing. That they do not want her in the running makes it clear that they do not want her to compete with their own Democrat candidate.

How sane is it to allow the left to continue to decide what candidates to run on the right? They will always try to help the right select the weakest candidate. Their hate for Palin is proof positive that she scare the hell out of them. Now why would she scare them if they really thought she was a bumpkin that had no chance of winning?

The Pope speaks for the Church yet the Church is not the Pope.

The only time she gets MSM coverage is when they think they can damage her. She has reasonable positions on all major issues (not just the “hot” ones and will make a fine replacement for Obama in 2012.

Like we won on slavery, we are winning the abortion battle for the minds — which is actually slavery redeux, whereby a person’s right to life is determined by another person rather than being an innate right. It does help tremendously that science is on our side. DNA, sonograms, you name it. The kid is human — and the question is becoming whether it ought to be legal to kill him rather than a question of his humanity. When some ND Obamabot says the pictures of dead fetuses turn him off, we know the science (which in the end is merely a series of facts linking a hypothesis to a proven theory) is hitting home.

Since Obama is so willing to come part way, how about starting with a tax deduction for the fetus which can only be claimed by an affidavit of humanity from the mother. It lets the pro-abortion people put their money where their mouths are. And, as an interesting aside, it shows the relationship between abortion and slavery — a little piece of paper needed in order to be human, and the little human earning money for mommy. Cool.

Perhaps there should have been a ‘fairness doctrine’ with a bishop or cardinal presenting an opposing view.

Also, the point about obama never considering the HE should change is one you hit right out of the park. Obamama has been deified by the press and, I think, is beginning to think that HE possesses infallibility on all things (not just church doctrine as the Pope). I don’t think he is honest enough, or even smart enough, to understand that the slobbering sycophants of the press are giving him a free ride.

I have been assuming all along that there wasn’t any “invite”, but that the Obama political machinery took advantage of what might reasonably be assumed a standing invitation to the President, to address a more-liberal-than-average Catholic audience for political benefit, and putting Jenkins and Notre Dame in the tough spot.
