If you were a Christian, in the only sense in which the word finds meaning - the Bible, then you would never say what you wrote.

Yes. Magnus doesn't sound like a Christian at all. He sounds like a post-modern inclusivist.

Atheism is nothing more than an excuse used by fools to ignore the reality of the Living God. There are no atheists, just haters of God.

Even Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins have their gods. They worship science and they worship self, among other things. There are no true atheists. There are just those who believe in the one true Christian God, and those who worship false idols.

Magnus, you said the following above:

And who is really a Christian in a “biblical sense” (there are dozens of versions of the bible and hundreds of different type of Christians) is relative to the type of bible and the one interpreting it.

If you were a Christian, in the only sense in which the word finds meaning - the Bible, then you would never say what you wrote.

So, either you are incredibly ignorant, or confused, or a cultist, or all three. In any case, you need some serious instruction on true Christianity, from the Bible.

So many lies, and downright ignorance here, it’s hard to know where to start -
1) Fred Phelps is about as much a Christian as Ayahtollah Komenini. People can say all sorts of idiotic things, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re mentally unstable. Just because someone says they’re a phone book doesn’t make it credible.

2) Islam is in no way shape or form an “Abrahamic” religion. Where on earth did you go to school? I’ve studied Old Testament history for the past 20 years and have never heard anything so ignorant in my life.

3) Dozens of “versions” of the Bible, meaning what? The Bible was written primarily in Hebrew and Greek, all english translations (not paraphrases) are based on the original scriptures. Differing versions of a translation mean nothing. It’s just differing ways of translating certain words. The meaning does not change.

Christopher Hitchens got his clock cleaned by William Lane Craig a month ago, read the transcript over at Biola’s website. There are hundreds of solid Christian apologetic websites all over the internet, and many of them take on the same old tired atheist drivel over and over. Same argument, but different procedure in stating the argument.

Atheism is nothing more than an excuse used by fools to ignore the reality of the Living God. There are no atheists, just haters of God.

Want to see atheists get taken to the cleaners on a regular basis, go to triablogue.com. It is embarrassing how truly ignorant they are of the fact that every argument they bring forth has already been answered.

1. And because you say YOUR a Christian doesn't make it so either. It's relative.

2. Islam is an Abrahamic religion. Because that upsets you doesn't mean it isn't true. Christianity, Judiasm, and Islam (additionally Bahai and Samaritan to some)are all Abrahamic religions.

3. Translations = Version(Ala "King James Version. New International Version. American Standard Version). Some saying the KJV is the most pure of the message and Jehovah's Witness version being totally corrupt.

I can't argue for Atheist in totality because I am a Christian. But it is not unfathomable to me that people exist that will knowingly reject Christ and the Word.

Atheism is a rejection of ALL religion. Not just Christianity. Osama Bin Laden is a radical Islamist, which is a Abrahamic religion. Fred Phelps would argue he is more of a Christian than anyone else. And who is really a Christian in a “biblical sense” (there are dozens of versions of the bible and hundreds of different type of Christians) is relative to the type of bible and the one interpreting it.

Speaking of Miss California’s medical procedures…
So yesterday there was a story on the Los Angeles local news about “Octomom” (as if we haven’t all had enough). The hospital where she gave birth is facing a $250,000 fine (from a California medical oversight organization, I believe) because staff at the hospital breached the privacy of her medical records.
I gotta’ believe Miss California has a case for a lawsuit against the pageant for releasing information about her breast augmentation.

Y-not on May 16

Unless no such documentation exists.

Has anyone produced a medical record to support this boob job claim?

Has anyone produced a receipt to support this boob job claim?

Who made this accusation? Shanna Moakler

And what happened to her? forced to resign (FIRED!)

As to her “medical records”.

California already HAS computerized systems. Is this what Obama and the Dems hope to use the system for?

To dig up “dirt” on their paranoid delusional enemy list?

As anyone who has ever used a computer knows if you can “access the records” you can alter, delete, edit, change, or add to the record.

We already know Team Obama has done this before, just look up “Joe the Plumber”

Oh my lookie here!

“Axelrod dumps on Miss California”

Guess my question was rhetorical after all, shame.

Will anyone in the MSM grow a pair and ask Obama about this?

Or are they already Cowing cowards, Boneless Wonders?

“I remember when I was a child, being taken to the celebrated Barnum's Circus, which contained an exhibition of freaks and monstrosities, but the exhibit on the program which I most desired to see was the one described as "The Boneless Wonder".

My parents judged that the spectacle would be too demoralizing and revolting for my youthful eye and I have waited fifty years, to see The Boneless Wonder <strike>sitting on the Treasury Bench </strike>
As president of the USA and his minions.

Uncouth and ugly. Demeaning and ignorant. Fitting description of Maher the comedian, even if he isn't very funny at all. He reminds me of a vampire trying to suck the life out of everything and everyone he touches.

The Christian-bashers do not understand Christianity at all. That much is clear.

BakerAllie on May 17, 2009 at 11:39 AM

Many of them understand it completely, they just reject it. Just in the same way I understand Islam very much so and completely reject it. And if Islams most loud mouthed followers weren't people who blow up children and cut people's heads off and it was truly a religion of "peace" I'd still reject it. Because it is false.

Christopher Hitchens is a very smart man. He knows all about Christianity but choose to reject it based on the fact he THINKS it is false.

I had not seen the photo's up until this weekend and they were a lot tamer than I thought they would be based on the uproar.
Do I think they are an appropriate standard for a Christian?
Personally, no. But I also understand that modesty is kind of a grey area for many, because it's not explicitly designated that "thou shalt only show 2 inches above the knee." etc. I think she should have handled it differently when the photos came out, if she does regret them. But I fail to see how this makes her any more or less Christian than me, my church friends, or any other Christian who readily admits that the struggle against sin is a daily battle.

And it's so clear that this is just another opportunity for the left to bash Christianity any way it can. She insulted the sacred belief in gay marriage, so they will seek any way to shame her and dig up dirt. Maher would probably be horrified to meet some of the Christians who were converted through a prison ministry. The Christian-bashers do not understand Christianity at all. That much is clear.

Allahpundit, you do know that the One-World Government will be bringing a One-World Religion too don't you?

They see Christians and atheists as enemies. So while you're catching wood bashing Christians and Palin, the globalists are planning your elimination.

Silly little rat-faced git.

Intent is the key here. If I leave my window slightly cracked and a thief sees that as an opportunity I don’t think God is going to ask me to account for the thief’s actions.

Which is all I was saying, actually. Yes, women shouldn't dress in such a way as to tell a man her body's available, as that will tempt a man to lust (going off both the verses where Paul talks about refraining even from activity that isn't otherwise sinful, except that it tempts others, and verses that deal with lust); however, I do think there's a legitimate argument to be made about whether or not that is her intention.

Christianity isn't legalistic. My interpretation of the Sermon on the Mount is that your heart is most important in deciding whether you've sinned, not your outward actions. If you do the right thing for the wrong reason, it's still a sin. I believe the opposite is also true, but only you and God can know the reason you do a certain thing.

It's just silly that we see time and time on this website the idea that Obama has the same ideas about gay marriage as Prejean. And it's not silly, it's also leads some peole to seriously misunderstand their opposition, which is bad for political dialog. In the first place, most people understand Obama's "opposition" to gay marriage is political expedience at a time when public views on gay marriage are rapidly changing. What gay supporters of Obama want from him is for him to stay out of gay marriage and for favorable Supreme Court justices. The rational Obama voters who strongly favor gay marriage wouldn't want Obama to support gay marriage to the point where it causes him political difficulties. Obama's personal stance on the subject makes no difference. While I doubt the over all rationality of supporting Obama, most people who voted for Obama and strongly want gay marriage are very rational this way.

Of course, if we were all rational, gay marriage would not be on the top ten list of important issue, whether we oppose it or support it.

Maher is no reason to become a self-hating atheist Allah. On the other side of the religion coin is Fred Phelps and Osama Bin Laden. We’re still in better company.

You got one huge problem there, partner, neither one of those persons you named are in any way shape or form to be considered Christian in the biblical sense.

I say, biblical sense, because there are many who claim to be Christians, but are not. The Bible lays out the requirements for being a child of the Living God, not man.

Bill Maher; Christopher Hitchens; Richard Dawkins, Allahpundit, and you, are, by your own definition “atheists.”

Atheism is a rejection of ALL religion. Not just Christianity. Osama Bin Laden is a radical Islamist, which is a Abrahamic religion. Fred Phelps would argue he is more of a Christian than anyone else.

And who is really a Christian in a "biblical sense" (there are dozens of versions of the bible and hundreds of different type of Christians) is relative to the type of bible and the one interpreting it.

It is not for you to judge, God will handle it.

chalons on May 16, 2009 at 10:08 PM

Twist not the Scripture lest you be like Satan. That passage does not mean what you think it means. If it did, you yourself would be guilty for judging those to whom you judged needed to hear from that passage of Scripture.

Matthew 7:1-3 speaks against hypocritical and self-righteous judging, not judging itself. In fact, God commands his people to judge with righteousness.

"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits." Matthew 7:15-19

"Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment." - John 7:24

Maher is disgusting, and so was that "skit" of his. But I can't defend Prejean. If you expose your naked body at a photo shoot and prance around on-stage half naked at a vanity-fueled beauty pageant, all without either regret or shame for the sin you have committed, you cannot reasonably expect to "stand up for God" without others calling you out on your hypocrisy.

It's just too bad all we're getting in this whole "debate" is hate-filled partisan drivel and hypocritical hypocrisy charges from the left, and nothing but blind, uncritical excuse-making on the right.
