Video: Maher mocks buxom Christian opponent of gay marriage not named “Barack Obama”
posted at 3:36 pm on May 16, 2009 by Allahpundit
A quickie from last night’s show displaying all the charm and subtlety we’ve come to expect, and surely the first time in his life that he’s had an unkind word to say about breast implants. There’s something cosmically apt about him attacking her: No one in American media better embodies the lefty paradox of libertinism paired with judgmentalism, therefore no one’s better qualified to prosecute her for the left’s capital crime of hypocrisy. And why no similar goof on Obama? I favor Omri Ceren’s explanation from yesterday: “Miss CA is just this week’s Designated Hate Target, so she gets bundled into every leftist joke that requires an ‘insert demeaning reference here’ punchline.” True enough; his audience would have felt let down if he’d ignored her. But there’s a second possibility according to Mark Steyn, one that also explains the left’s different attitudes towards Cheney and Pelosi on torture: Unlike Obama, when Miss California says she’s against gay marriage, she actually means it.
It’s the Miss USA standard of political integrity: Carrie Prejean and Barack Obama have the same publicly stated views on gay marriage. But the politically correct enforcers know that Barack doesn’t mean it, so that’s okay, whereas Carrie does, so that’s a hate crime. In the torture debate, Pelosi is Obama and Dick Cheney is Carrie Prejean. Dick means it, because to him this is an issue of national security. Nancy doesn’t, because to her it’s about the shifting breezes of political viability.
For a movement that professes to care so much about torture and gay rights, they sure are cheap dates for their political leaders. Anyway, enjoy the clip. Just one more baby step towards me becoming a self-hating atheist.

Yeah I saw this garbage last night didnt feel it was worth the bandwidth to even send it up.
But hey might as well put up the CNN stoolies mocking Sarah Palin for standing up for Miss California
Dont want them to be left out.

Speaking of Miss California’s medical procedures…
So yesterday there was a story on the Los Angeles local news about “Octomom” (as if we haven’t all had enough). The hospital where she gave birth is facing a $250,000 fine (from a California medical oversight organization, I believe) because staff at the hospital breached the privacy of her medical records.
I gotta’ believe Miss California has a case for a lawsuit against the pageant for releasing information about her breast augmentation.

Bill Maher is such an ass. He was mouthing off in some movie theater lobby couple of years ago and some other patron there just punched him in the face, knocking him cold. Not a bad idea. Maher’s no stranger to breast augmentation, he’s a frequent visitor to the Playboy Mansion. Also, he’s a boob himself.
Paul-Cincy on May 16, 2009 at 3:50 PM
Only Liberals could view Obama’s politically expedient hypocrisy on the gay marriage issue as somehow morally superior to Prejean’s polite expression of her deeply-held religious belief.
Liberalism really is a mental disease.
AZCoyote on May 16, 2009 at 3:50 PM
It’s certainly food for thought.
Paul-Cincy on May 16, 2009 at 3:51 PM
As a woman, who needs a mommy make over (including breast implants), that was funny.
I think its odd she was raised to be against gay marriage but her parents didn’t have the sense to put in her not take essentially topless pictures and instill in her what the Word says about sexual responsibility, respecting one’s body and not compromising one’s modesty.
Magnus on May 16, 2009 at 3:51 PM
In a strange way, Bill Maher really does provide the best proof against the existence of God.
Would an infinitely good and powerful God let bad things happen to good people while allowing a disgusting piece of shit like Maher to live and thrive? The problem of evil…cubed.
packsoldier on May 16, 2009 at 3:53 PM
if he had any stones he would say Obama’s name….but he’s to chicken. doesn’t BHO claim to be a christian? hasn’t he also had implants? is he also not opposed to gay marriage?
what does ann coulter see in this guy?
poppieseeds on May 16, 2009 at 3:53 PM
Because Maher, who looks like a cross between a Leprechaun and a Ferengi, is a pathetic little man who doesn’t have the guts, not that it would take that much. He is probably not so much afraid of Obama as he is of the rich McCarthyite Hollyweird fascist overlords.
And this from the “man” who said to the effect that it didn’t take guts to take on jihadis as they were so lesser armed than American forces.
Such irony, although probably totally lost on him.

Just when I think that Maher can’t sink any lower he proves me wrong. Isn’t this the same guy who can’t score with a girl outside of a silicone-stuffed Playboy mansion party?
This man is a jealous, miserable, and bitter POS. His biggest problem is that he can only get attractive women by paying them for lapdances, and a classy lady like Carrie wouldn’t give his ugly puss a second look.
OlympicLeprechaun on May 16, 2009 at 4:07 PM
Let him keep going. Eventually, some , if not most, will come to see thru all this b.s., and that’s exactly what it is. b.s. They think worse of America, and her citizens, then the taliban does. Exceptions, are those who think just like them.
They are showing their true, and hateful colors, and I’m here to say, we have nothing to be ashamed of. I’m proud of my country, the troops, my family, my friends, and everyone here, that feels the same. No more hate. It’s time to show others, how to love, and respect our country. Not to be shamed, into hating it, or ourselves.
Carrie is standing by her opinion, and beliefs, and holding her head high. Keep going, Carrie. You have us behind you, and remember. God doesn’t make bad things happen, but he’s with us, when the bad things do happen.

Meh. While Maher’s a clown who puts way too much faith in his own conclusions, i’ll admit ive wondered myself why one can oppose something like gay marriage on christian grounds…but overlook other things entirely, specifically about how they lead their own life. This instance doesn’t illustrate the point all that well, but then again Maher is a clown.

Carrie walked into the valley
With freedom clutched in her hand
She was only a girl, but she knew
Someone must take a stand
There will always be a valley
Always tyrant’s walls someone must scale
There will always be treacherous waters
Which someone must sail
Fling into battle, with a spring in your feet girl
Never hold back your step for a moment
Never doubt that your courage will grow
Hold your head even higher as against the little tyrants you go

Allahpundit: It is not necessary for you to become a “self-hating atheist.” Maher has that covered for you. What is important for people like him to comprehend is that in God’s Wisdom, He is not fooled by “fake” Christians, which seems to be the only people Maher thinks there is.
So as Bill makes “fun” of “pastor-doc” or screams about the scandal in the Church, he and others, fail to see that the Lord prophesied it all 2,000 years ago, only proving Who He really is. We, as people, must take care not to fall prey to the wolves, whether within or without the Church, the Christian community, or the world itself, lest we find ourselves also hearing the verdict:
For today, many work iniquity.
For more proof God is not mocked and knows exactly what is going on in our world today, read about the Church-approved 20th-century Saint who was given the prophetic knowledge of the current scandal and what we could expect after it occurred. She already has been proven right regarding two prophecies that occurred years after she died. http://www.greatspiritualbattle.com/greatest20centuryprophet.html

I forgot that O was against gay marriage.
I think that it warrants 40 lashes or beheading in his religion.
I view Maher and Jon Stewart as women trapped in the body of a man.
They live in a world of manicures, pedicures, green rooms, making fun of women, and being vulgar in the presence of women.
I wish that Todd Palin would straighten both of them out.

Don’t care to watch. Maher is a jumped-the-shark, bitter hateful wretch. And AP, some atheists are hateful and intolerant, others are not. You’re one of the good guys. Oh, and in the latter days, or when the muslims are really on the move, I’d rather have one of you, who gets it, than a whole squadron of mamby-pamby, halffast spit-you-out-of-my-mouth (Biblical, FYI) lukewarm ‘Christians’.
bikermailman on May 16, 2009 at 4:30 PM
Ya, prolly true in his case.
But the point is that people like Maher (liber-nazis) only hate Christianity because it’s a buzz-kill on their charade.
He’s using the hypocrisy meme only to point out that (to him) Christian women aren’t supposed to be anything glamourous.

Reminder:
The LEFT defined topless as absolutely no strings, no sticky attachments, and openly completely exposed full frontal.
When confronted with tasteful provocation, the Left go gagagoo berserk to rape, pillage and plunder. The LEFT produced and published the photos for public consumption without the permission of the model. SHE didn’t publish them out there, though obviously she posed and learned her lesson. Own the camera and the film; rent and frisk the photographer before, during and after the photo shoot to be certain that you are in possession of everything, and require contractual agreement from the photographer prior to anything else.
She IS beautiful and shouldn’t be ashamed of her body or her photos. SHE didn’t broadcast them, and has every right to have gorgeous documentation of just how great she looks for her own use whether for her journal or whatever it was that she wanted. She’s taking the public ridicule without responding with a public tantrum. She’s now proving her own responsible maturity against thorough adversity.
Get off the obsession, pervert.
maverick muse on May 16, 2009 at 4:40 PM
I think casting stones is different than holding up a standard. The left has this idea that if anybody has a standard they have to be perfect or else they’re a hypocrite.
It’s actually the method behind the Cloward-Piven Plan. If anyone stands up for anything, crucify the standard because the people who love it can’t live up to it. It’s a great offensive move, keeping the other side on defense. Never mind that you have to practice deliberate hypocrisy to do it.
The right, OTOH, isn’t likely to crucify Obama, for instance, when he fails to keep his campaign promises, because we prefer hypocrisy to the outright destruction of America that he upheld as the standard. So he said stupid stuff; at least he “repented” (was forced) enough that he didn’t actually DO the stupid stuff.
IOW, the right is out to see the right thing done. The left is out to destroy anybody who stands in the way of their power.
And I do think we need to recognize the technique for what it is. It’s the same thing as threatening an investor over any little error they might drudge up if that investor happens to protest having their assets stolen. The Chicago mob politics of personal destruction is NOT something that goes on at Hot Air regularly.
Whether it’s from a religious bent or a political one doesn’t matter. The goal for the lefties is to destroy people. Steal, kill, and destroy – speaking the native language of lies as you go.
Holding up a standard is a totally different thing.

Is this the reason for the song, Barack the Magic Negro? He certainly seems pretty magical if he can say the exact same words and not take the scorn Carrie has taken. So her performance as a Christian, while trying to achieve success as a professional model, isn’t perfect. Of course, there are no perfect Christians, and there are degrees to which different people practice their Christianity. (I have known several Catholic people who never miss mass, but don’t think twice about sex outside of marriage, for example.)
I am all for exercising discernment, but as for offering my opinion of the sin of others, I’ve learned in my own Christian walk that most of the time, I am no better than the person I would be criticizing.

If this is not “hate speech” there is no such thing. He better hope he’s right and the Christians are wrong. Paschual was asked in 1838 why did he believe in a Supreme Being. Somehow, I don’t think Jeremiah Wright’s church is pro-gay marriage, and it would be truly funny if — despite the left thinking Obama is an intellectual urban sophisticate like they are, who’s just BSing the public on his real position on same-sex marriage — he actually took the teachings of his Chicago church to heart, and shares the same belief on the subject as both Prejean and the great majority of African-American voters in California’s Prop 8 election.
(To see what the reaction would be in the gay community if that turned out to be true, just check out Andrew Sullivan’s post this week on “don’t ask, don’t tell” and multily that by 100.)

Yes, that’s a problem. Many people do pretend that homosexuality is the one unforgivable sin instead of one among many, which is what they claim to believe.
However, I haven’t seen that at play with Carrie here. You can say she’s biblically wrong, but she’s never argued that her interpretation of the Bible should keep her from posing in a bikini or to get a breast implant. She only ever argued that she’s living biblically, but that word obviously means things to different people.
And considering that the standards of decency change drastically over time and in different cultures, it’s not hard to see that a 21-year-old from California might think she isn’t doing anything to violate the Christian command to keep herself from tempting other men into sin by posing in what some have deemed provocative pictures.
