I think if the Republicans play it right, this “liar” meme can go on and on and on and score big points heading into 2010.

The “power play” here is to drag this out as long as possible, hopefully until the the mid-term 2010 elections when you bring this to a crescendo. Having Pelosi as the “face” of the democratic party is an asset that cannot be wasted, keeping the Dems and Obama off balance and in reaction mode is the only defense available given their majority status at this time.

The incalcuable damage that is being wrought on our nation might start to become readily apparent by 2010. Our focus should be attuned towards illuminating this in a timely fashion and to the greatest electoral effect. If there be no credible alternate to Obama’s policies come 2010 we are screwed, if the Obama doctrines are allowed 4yrs of unfetterrred leeway we are doomed and rejection of it by the body politic is absolutely crucial.

If we allow the de-construction of contract law that is the heart of the constitution to be become intstitutionalized by 2012 the battle is lost. Team Obama is moving with such haste that after 4yrs the damage may be too great to reverse. His political capital must be knee-capped by 2010 or I fear it will be too late.

How hard should the right push for her to go? Steve King’s already called on her to step down, but the more we beat up on her, the more the left will feel obliged to circle the wagons instead of hanging her out to dry.

The left will circle the wagons but Democrats wont. She could be a political anchor. Imagine if every news station in Boston started running John Kerry’s winter soldier testimony every night for a year prior to his next senate race. Would Rahm Emmanuel circle the wagons or would he look for a new candidate?

What’s our next move?

Damage her as much as possible yet leave her as speaker of the house. She is more useful to the right as a smeared and fully discredited current speaker than as a former speaker. She would be a lame duck and she would be far less useful to Obama. We need to make the stain stick.

Every time foreign time torture is mentioned alluding to Pelosi is required. “Well we know who plays politics with torture and foreign policy.”

But the better thing for the country would be for Obama to quietly tell the House Dems to unseat her and put Hoyer in charge. He is apparently well respected by the House GOP and they are willing to work with him in good faith. Bad for the GOP but good for the country.

As for the speaker, I think it will better poltically if she is forced out. Yes, then she wont be the face of the Democratic party, but no one will remember this if she survives, come election day 2010, or 2012 for that matter. More people(not a lot but still more) will remember her being forced out, rather than a controversy that blew over in May 2009.

I think this is true. You have to strike while the iron is hot in politics, because what doesn’t kill you is soon forgotten by the electorate. If there is anything the Republicans can do to hasten Pelosi’s demise, they should carry it out with gusto.

Keep pounding on her & make the left defend her. The more we do this the better it is for Republican candidates in 2010. They can attack the Dem incumbents as Pelosi’s puppets & make their elections about her and Reid. It’s the same way the Dem’s ran against Bush. Make her the Dem Mascot, as Treacher has advocated, & then pound on all those who voted to make her Speaker. Making Democrats attack their own in order to win re-election, is an effective way to divide their party.

This is a given. She could say she had not any surgery and then blame bush for causing her to get it. This MSM is not going to do anything to get her out or even try. She will not be leaving after they just won. “I won”

This would be like… right after the win of one of many battle then quiting when the whole reason for the battle was power not even just to win. Now that they got the power they will never let it go without a fight.

As long as Gingrich and Rove are explaining the details dispassionately and repeatedly, the American people will become aware of what Pelosi has done and is continuing to do.

To defend the War on Terror and its neccessity. To counter the “Its torture” memo the far left is pushing.

The democrats want us to focus on bad things done to the enemy in the WOT. We need to focus on why this is a good fight and the democrats are the ones on the wrong side.

And while Pelosi’s credibility is shrinking, it is time for conservative Republicans to hammer home better solutions to the economy and energy problems facing us than the ones her party is pushing. A convincing argument (“Here is what we propose, and this is why it is better for your pocketbook and your security.”) can be made to the American people, who are beginning to feel the squeeze as this recession is heading toward a depression.

It really doesn’t matter, at this point, what the response is from Republicans. Pelosi has weathered everything to date in her career and really doesn’t believe that anything negative will come, as a result of this latest dustup, from the direction of the right. She fully expects that fellow Dems, the far left and the MSM will give her all the cover she needs, as they have always done in the past.

But I believe that she might be thinking that the above description is not the totality of the problem for her this time. Unless she is even more stupid than it appears she has to realize that her real problem lies with the CIA. Her exposure to retaliation from within the Agency, or even from someone within it’s ranks of retirees or ex-agents, is potentially significant and devastating. Payback could be a real bitch this time.

The only thing to do this time may be to just sit back and watch the show.
