Audio flashback: Gore rips Bush’s terror policies in September 2002

posted at 1:07 pm on May 16, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via Don Surber, a memory refresher to follow last night’s post about what a liar he is. Be sure to listen all the way through or you’ll miss him calling Bush’s detention policies “un-American,” which of course is A-OK when used by a liberal to criticize a conservative but an outrageous slur vice versa. The more I think about his “I waited two years to complain!” defense (which, again, is a lie), the more profoundly stupid it seems. If, as he says here, he considered Bush’s policies to be an attack on constitutional rights, why on earth would he wait to speak up about it? Is he actually suggesting that the respectful silence owed to a new president by the previous administration means they should shut up and watch while he does something as grave as tearing up the Bill of Rights? And if he’s not suggesting that, what’s his beef with Cheney chiming in about a matter as grave as terrorist interrogations and national security? The “logic” here is downright Pelosi-esque.

Exit question: When’s St. Al going to speak out about Obama retaining most of Bush’s counterterror infrastructure? Or is he too consumed with weeping at the moment to formulate his thoughts properly? Click the image to listen.

What? Al Gore lie?

Say it ain’t so!

Knucklehead on May 16, 2009 at 1:11 PM

Gore doesn’t care about anything but becoming a billionaire off of the cap and tax scheme.

txag92 on May 16, 2009 at 1:13 PM

Barry, there’s a saying in the Bible that goes something like, “You can’t serve two masters. You either love one and hate the other, or be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God & money.”

Barry, Albert does not serve God, just so you know.

Obama betrayed this country, He played on our fears!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Al Gore is an idiot. The fact that he lost his so-called home state of Tennessee in 2000 is evidence enough. After all, if he had managed to win our votes, Florida wouldn’t have mattered.

Dip.

Gore doesn’t care about anything but eating boxes of Nilla wafers and counting the money he’s made off selling PLASTIC DVDs, made out of PLASTIC WHICH IS MADE OUT OF OIL.

What a slimebucket.

We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country.

Iraq’s search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power.

It would have also helped if he could have won his boss’ home state of Arkansaw, not to mention the state of West Virginia, which has voted for Democrats for President since the time of Barney Rubble.

Dreadnought223 on May 16, 2009 at 1:26 PM

Re the exit question…he’s not. Nor did his partner in crime, Pelosi. They’re not just liars, they’re cowardly liars.

In a righteous and just world, Al Gore would have had his ass severely kicked a long time ago.

And out of interest, here’s Gore slamming the first President Bush for “ignoring Saddam’s ties to terrorism” back in 1992.

Makes your eyes water, doesn’t it?

CarbonMan, strange visitor from an alternate reality who came to Earth with claims and scary predictions far beyond those of any sane man, disguised as Fat Albert, and now joined by other members of the Royal GreenLeague such as BioFuelHummerMan and EcoCleaningWoman, they all fight a never ending battle for Science-fiction, hypocrisy and the Hollywood way!

Interesting flash-back. The only reason, then, he didn’t stay on the public stage is because nobody was really very interested.

Al Gore is an ass. When Al Gore and his family start walking everywhere and live in a cardboard box, he can lecture me about my energy consumption, etc. Same goes for all the celebs who live in homes 30 times as big as my apartment with fifteen different cars and decide to lecture me about Global Warming. As far I I am concerned, they can all go bugger off.

KentAllard on May 16, 2009 at 1:55 PM

Fat Albert, Prince of Hypocrisy, has nothing to say that I want to hear. You’ve had your 15 minutes, Albert, now go away.

GarandFan on May 16, 2009 at 1:58 PM

Yes – because everyone that criticized Al Gore here obviously also criticized Cheney.

You people constantly criticizing the RINOs are absolutely insane. Absolute hypocrisy.

The main problem with Gore’s criticism of the USA was that he did it overseas (much like Obama’s international apology tour). That used to be taboo. But Gore went to Saudi Arabia to tell them that yes, indeed, America is a terrible place.

Criticizing is American. Going overseas and telling oppressive dictatorships that America is bad is a whole other level of un-American.

Reality and what the D politicians said decoupled at least a decade ago. . . because the media let them get away with lying.

ThackerAgency on May 16, 2009 at 2:29 PM

I sometimes wonder about the intelligence of people like Gore and Pelosi. I understand that they expect the MSM to merely repeat their most recent pronouncements without ever comparing them to previous actions or statements that would embarrass them. But do they really not understand that the Left wing media is no longer the sole proprietor of archive material?

They are both incapable of making a consistent argument about anything. With them, it’s always whatever is politically expedient right now.

cruadin on May 16, 2009 at 2:30 PM

Are there like anti-Christ juniors? You know, you got the big one, the main guy, Satan himself … but are there like little anti-Christ lieutenants running around?

If so then Gore is one of them.

I shall piss on him or his grave … whichever I see first.

darwin on May 16, 2009 at 2:34 PM

What I can’t believe is that Al Gore didn’t think someone would dig this up and call him on his lies.

AZCoyote on May 16, 2009 at 2:45 PM

Gore is a self-righteous, self-centered prig, unwilling or incapable of recognizing his own hypocrisy. His behavior consists of grandstanding on any issue that he perceives is politically expedient at the moment.

BuckeyeSam on May 16, 2009 at 3:58 PM

Far more damaging is the administration’s attack on fundamental constitutional rights that we ought to have and do have as American citizens. The very idea that an American citizen can be imprisoned without recourse to judicial process or remedies, and that this can be done on the sole say-so of the president of the United States or those acting in his name, is beyond the pale and un-American and it ought to be stopped.

So why didn’t he speak up about this in 1996?

When the anti-terror law was passed?

The “Power” he is speaking of, comes from that bill, not the PATRIOT ACT.

From a left wing site
http://www.boogieonline.com/revolution/legal/police/terror95.html

Presumed guilty, secret evidence can be used

Permanent resident aliens arrested under this law have to prove they should not be held in jail before trial. Secret evidence can used in the detention hearings and at trial that only the judge could see, not the defendant.

Presidential powers expanded.

The President can label organizations — without any appeal or review — as “terrorist”, and criminalize fundraising for humanitarian aid even remotely related to such groups.

Constitutional protections eroded.

The law further restricts the Bill of Rights’ habeas corpus protections for state prisoners. Although this is a terrorism law, and death-row inmates were used to justify this provision, this affects all state prisoners, and no one convicted of federal terrorism laws. Prisoners are required to prove the state acted “unreasonably,” a tough legal standard that isn’t met simply by having credible evidence of innocence or wrongful imprisonment.

Punishment for lawful actions.

Permanent resident aliens can be deported or indefinitely jailed for their affiliations or political activity, with no judicial review.

First Amendment protections weakened.

The law lifts a 1994 Crime law restriction prohibiting the FBI from investigations based on speech or beliefs, when restricting humanitarian aid. Foreigners can be barred from speaking in the U.S. using McCarthy era McCarran-Walter Act provisions. An overbroad definition of terrorism virtually requires the Justice Department to select crimes to prosecute based on political beliefs and associations.

AP – The joke of Gore’s statement is that he didn’t have to say anything because everyone else was carrying his water until 9/10. Then it stopped until he kicked it back up in ’02.

He disappeared to play the role of the martyr. He re-appeared as fat, unshaven, plaid shirt Al and people thought he lost his marbles. Then, he starts dropping “W betrayed us talk” and the rest is history.

He’s too busy distracting people from the fact that the Earth has been cooling for the past two years. If the truth gets out he may be prevented from milking more millions from his AGW hoax.

Well at least, he has that fool Bill O’Reilly on his side.

O’Reilly is convinced the Earth is warming because his thermometer tells him so. So here it is the 17th of May and the temperature has been 10° below normal for the whole month but O’Reilly hasn’t noticed. We should all send O’Reilly a thermometer that works.
