<blockquote>NaCly dog, do you think there’s any turning back at this point? </blockquote>

Yes, It's the first rule of holes --Stop digging.
<blockquote>
Do you think there’s anything at this point that could restore trust?</blockquote> Repeal TARP, the stimulus, and enforce contract law. Plus hit the MSM at the reporter. editor, and owner level with facts and, if needed, social derision.
IMHO, the key to the goverment side is the Senate. We must ramp up our feedback to our senators.
<blockquote>
And if it did, could things go back to normal?

LOL, you mean nobody standing on the railroad tracks saw, or heard the train coming? And, you mean to tell me that nobody knew that Barry Soetoro was molded by communist Frank Marshall Davis, and mentored by socialist Saul Alinsky? Do tell?

NaCly dog, do you think there's any turning back at this point? It's so strange how almost overnight, with no real change except broken trust, everything took a dive. Do you think there's anything at this point that could restore trust? And if it did, could things go back to normal?

<blockquote>I should add she is married to a pastor in the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, which is one of the most pro-life church bodies you’ll ever find - especially if voting demographics are considered. She was a very committed Christian. But nothing would come before her union mentality.

I think I read somewhere that a servant cannot serve two masters. Your friend obviously made her choice. And she chose...poorly.

<blockquote>How do you think the hurt is going to manifest itself?

justincase on May 15, 2009 at 6:17 PM</blockquote>

The last time this happened, the end result was WWII and it's endpoints. En route to the end of WWII over 90 million died, and numerous countries were devastated.

Today, most US goods arrive by ship. Some of these goods go to Mexico first, but they still arrive by ship. An exception is Canada, and the stimulus package is alienating Canada on trade with the US. We do have some bulky exports, mainly ag products and chemicals. All of this would be affected, causing unemployment in foreign countries, with concomitant hatred of the US. Many stores in the US (eg. Wal-Mart) would be low on basic stocks.

Hyperinflation drains all savings, but still can not replace good the US doesn't manufacture. Plus, we have no money to buy stock. Shipping companies loose money transferring goods. So ships avoid the US. Did I mention a virulent hatred of the US for causing a world-wide depression?

This is my prediction for a world with Obama and his Democratic enablers in power. And I'm being optimistic here.

[...] Another way Bush tops Obama? Well, we can perhaps forgive the CIA, et al., for believing that Saddam Hussein was hiding WMDs which were later proven to have been non-existent or smuggled out of the country. But the joke is really on poor Joe Biden as he scours the United States for a handful of folks who have been hired as a result of a $780 billion disaster of a bill. Perhaps he’ll at least stumble upon one of those “evil” AIG types now living in a hole?
Got a 'yeah' from an ex-Obamite (I hope) today... About the dealership closures.
-
Me... 'It's that j**koff Obama. He's running the car companies now, and closing the dealers he don't like. Even profitable ones.'
-
Him... 'Yeah, <em>sigh</em>'
-
Me... Thinking, <em>'finally waking up... eh sleepy head' </em>

http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=GM#symbol=GM;range=1d

GM is getting hammered again today, gee I wonder why?
Notice the heavy volume to sell off dive in the chart, exactly when the "GM to close 1,100 dealerships hit the wire"

.10 off its all time low.

I also imagine some folks watched the Beck interview with the dolt CEO... zero confidence in government meddling no matter how hard Obama and Biden lie...

You're a couple months too late, you bunch of fatcat anti-freedom numbskulls. And now those of us trying to get a start in life are being hit hardest by the election of an Islamic @$$-kissing Marxist.

<blockquote> should add she is married to a pastor in the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, which is one of the most pro-life church bodies you’ll ever find - especially if voting demographics are considered. She was a very committed Christian. But nothing would come before her union mentality.

I guess it also depends on what church you attend. Before the election we had many sermons & letters read to us from the bishops etc. on what it means to be a Catholic and what God would want us to do regarding abortion etc. After listening to these sermons. I do know that there were Democrats that switched their vote at the last minute because of that Catholic guilt.

But it really is amazing how people value the unions over what God would want.

And anyone else that supported "The One" that has a business and is ok with the wealth redistribution.

Or any doctors that supported Obama & complain about Medicare or HMO's.... what do they think universal healthcare is going to be.

We have a lot of people without a lot of common sense.</blockquote>

angryed, it makes me wonder how these bread-and-butter union folks feel when they see non-union carmakers thriving so their employees not only get paid well but have some form of economic security. It's a win-win.

I was going to say, "When will they learn not to bite the hand that feeds them?"

But then I realized that the hand they truly count on to feed them is the one who will take my money and give it to them. They probably think the government machine is more reliable than the free market and working for a living. I wish they could see what communism ultimately does for the little guys though.

I've been frustrated, looking for a decent stove to buy since ours is arcing and sparking. Where I'm at I can't find anything, at least in online ads. I read somewhere that in communist countries nobody has any incentive to produce anything so there's just no stuff for people to buy. One gal said when she was in the Soviet Union people would see a line forming and they'd get in line, not knowing what people were waiting to buy but willing to stand in long lines for the chance to buy ANYTHING.

And I've already seen things that make me wonder here. For instance, I was looking for some plain hard rubber casters at Wal-Mart. They were out. I asked when they were going to get some more. They weren't. I'm in a small enough town that I suppose they figure it's more cost-effective to order when somebody asks, maybe... But it makes a person think.

Somebody was talking about the amount of goods that get shipped by boat all over the world. There's some index of that. Maybe somebody knows the name of it; I forget. Anyway, they were commenting that goods just aren't being shipped. I don't know how to evaluate the accuracy of what they said, but they were predicting that there were going to be shortages because the financial world is so unpredictable that manufacturers just aren't producing.

I wonder what union households make of all this.
