Rush to Pelosi: It’s time to go

Not only is it good strategy, it’s a matter of feminist pride. All kidding aside, I wonder if gender politics aren’t helping to keep the vultures at bay for her. If she’s pressured to quit, Steny Hoyer would likely replace her, and having the first woman Speaker muscled out in favor of a man wouldn’t be very progressive at all. Then again, The One’s almost certain to name a woman to the Supreme Court so he’ll get plenty of cover from that. Fire photon torpedoes!

You’ll be pleased to know that the Speaker of the House’s charge that America’s intelligence bureau is serially corrupt made it all the way to page A-18 of the New York Times today, so if there are any Times readers stumbling across this post, you might want to check our archives to get caught up before listening. Exit question: How bizarre is it for conservatives to be demanding her resignation for prevaricating about a policy they support full-throatedly? I know, I know — “it’s not that she condoned waterboarding, it’s that she lied” — but if the left forces her out, it won’t be because she’s a weasel. It’ll be because she didn’t have the moral acuity to throw caution to the wind after 9/11 and shrug off the odds of more attacks all so that Khaled Sheikh Mohammed wouldn’t be pretend-drowned. Click the image to listen.

Drug addict needs to get off the radio. He is in no position to talk when sober people are talking. Drug Limbaugh will never get a good job if he wasn’t on the radio because most good paying jobs require DRUG testing.

He will fail miserably

nice343 on May 15, 2009 at 5:04 PM

Thanks for sharing that, kid.

Limbaugh doesn’t need a job. He could walk away from his radio gig today and never have to work another day in his life.

You’re obviously jealous because you’ll never be able to do the same.

Man, what I think we have here is a troll seriously off his game today. We are all discussing a compelling story about political corruption, national security, the CIA, etc and the best you can come up with is to snark about Rush’s past addiction to pain pills? Its almost as if you have nothing to add to the actual conversation at hand. Truly sad days indeed.

If the left forces her out, it might simply be because they’re genuinely concerned about (arguably) the second most powerful person in the United States being in a borderline psychotic state. This honestly might be less a political issue than a psychiatric one.

From a purely partisan standpoint, though, wouldn’t it benefit the GOP to keep the disturbed socialist woman around? I’m sure the people at large have been comfortably sheltered from yesterday’s little shock-drama, but in the event things get weird enough to not sweep under the media rug, which they really might, her apparently deteriorating state of mind can’t be a good thing for her party.

For my part, though, I’m not sufficiently partisan to believe now is the right time in the history of this land mass (I’m not sure “this country” is the correct phrase anymore–I don’t know what country this is) to have a mentally unstable person holding the legislative till.

Blacklake on May 15, 2009 at 5:23 PM

The libs control the psychiatric profession. It’s much more likely a new disorder designation for people like Ms. California is created, than Pelosi’s mental stability is questioned. Be very careful of the state’s ability to decide what is normal and what is mental illness. I believe the psychiatric hospitals in paradises like the USSR and Cuba were full of political prisoners deemed mad by the state.

izoneguy on May 15, 2009 at 5:37 PM

“From a purely partisan standpoint, though, wouldn’t it benefit the GOP to keep the disturbed socialist woman around?”

That’d be assuming that her job doesn’t really mean anything. Bad things can happen when a person this unhinged is in a position this powerful; and those things will be bad, regardless of the purity of your partisanship.

(Again we see Rush putting country over party, although in this case it’s most literally a no-brainer.)

We are demanding her resignation after hearings to last through the summer in order to preoccupy the House so that it won’t be able to pass cap n trade or socialist medicine or another shamnesty bill this year. When the enemy is seriously wounded you don’t allow the enemy to go back to recover so that she/he can come back somewhat recovered with guns blazing. You finish off the enemy. You don’t know what can happen in a year’s time or so. Republicans should be plastering this all over Nancy’s District.
It is not odd to be demanding her firing over her lies on a policy we support. She lied about supporting the policy lambasted all republicans for supporting the policy libeled our fine men and women by calling them torturers and then libeled the CIA by calling them liars, and implying they were perjurers and intentionally misled Congress. We demand she go, eventually, like around Thanksgiving, so that we have a pro American Speaker, not an anti american loony tune Speaker. We need to get rid of her because she should not be in the line of succession to the highest office in the land. We saw with the President and Biden, that they travelled together in violation of protocol. Imagine if some terrorist got advanced word that Biden and Obama were traveling to the pizza joint and was able to blow the place up. Nancy would be the Acting President now. Could we afford that?

When questioned about Larry Craig’s bathroom “footsie” incident – Bob Beckel had this comment …

“Those who live by ‘family values’ … die by them”

**Democrats have no problems with Homosexuals who play footsie in airport bathroom stalls – in fact, they covet their votes. However – they lit onto Craig because of his hypocrisy.

We have a similar case here with Nancy Pelosi. The Democrats live by the “Terrorist’s Rights” credo. Well, more importantly they lived by the “Do anything to make Bush fail in the war on Terror” credo – and here we have Nancy Pelosi – who had a chance to uphold that credo for her base – and she failed to do so.

The fact is … the speaker has been at the FOREFRONT of public criticism of the Bush administration for it’s terror fighting tactics. Now here she is – complicent in them!

It’s beautiful man.

She needs to be crucified if she doesn’t go willingly.

Let me remind you – TRENT LOTT was forced to resign as Majority Leader of the Senate for saying these words at Strom Thurmond’s birthday party …

“When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn’t have had all these problems over the years, either.”

Through some extrapolation – that statement was taken to mean that the country would have been better off racially segregated for all these years. In fact – Lott was simply saying something nice about a very old guy who was about to die.

But he was forced to resign for it.

Pelosi has done much worse. She has pointed an accusing finger at the Bush administration for actions she endorsed through her silence. She then LIED about knowing. Now she’s LIEING about the CIA not telling her.

She needs to go – she’s done far worse than Lott did.

When a Democrat President lies under oath to a Federal Grand Jury about sex.

Despite the fact that the same President’s Justice Department had already successfully prosecuted another Federal employee (a woman, no less) for doing the exact same thing.

That would be the same Justice Department that confirmed that Iraq and al Qaeda were working together a full 3 years before 9/11.

Pelosi has done so much damage to our country with her rabid politics and overweeing ego that divisiveness is her middle name, no matter how much she coos about bipartisanship.

HondaV65: You sum up quite well why this woman needs a day of reckoning. She protects her own party members from valid ethics inquiries. Does anyone remember “Censure”? Magua’s belly would warm to watch it squirm because it doesn’t get to vote.

Never Again!

Drug addict needs to get off the radio. He is in no position to talk when sober people are talking. Drug Limbaugh will never get a good job if he wasn’t on the radio because most good paying jobs require DRUG testing. He will fail miserably

mine does not, and if they tested around here nobody would be employed very long. We self-medicate in order to watch the trolls self destruct and take our country with them.

and i bet i made 4x what you did last yr skippy.

so get off your mom’s computer, get a job, and earn some respect instead of demanding it

Allah, where’s the love, man?

I’m timestamped at 7:42am with my essay this morning, “New York Times, Nation’s “Paper of Record,” Rejects Frontpage Coverage of Pelosi Scandal”!

Pelosi’s problem now – if indeed she either supported or acquiesced in the interrogations back at the time – is that she is either a gutless creep for not having the courage of her former convictions, or she’s simply trying (and not too well at that) to take political advantage.

Whatever the case, she needs to go.

seanrobins on May 16, 2009 at 12:34 AM

most good paying jobs require DRUG testing.

I guess that’s why these Leftists have so much time to spend out protesting…because drug testing has kept them on the dole.

seanrobins on May 16, 2009 at 12:37 AM

I don’t know, Jim. Sure, it’s great to have such an obvious fool in her position, but how often do we get the chance to make one of these b*stards choke on their own corruption?

Kensington on May 15, 2009 at 7:27 PM

What do you think is happening right now? Let her choke in the midst of all her fallen brethren. Let them gasp at the stench. Watch them scatter and snarl.

Jim Treacher on May 16, 2009 at 1:32 AM

I disagree with Maha Rushie and Mr, Newt too

As long as Nancy Pelosi keeps maintaining her foolish lies, the GOP will probably make even bigger gains in 2010 than in 1994.

Keep it up, Nancy! The GOP is rooting for ya!!

Dear goopers, what a shock, pillboy himself calling for Pelosi to resign. I’m sure the Democrats want to take advice from an overweight, thrice divorced, ex drug addict, partisan hack, neocon. We wait in anticipation for the grand wisdom that Jobba the Hut dispenses with every day. Better bring more than pillboy to this fight, he’s just another rightwing loon that Americans quit listening too long ago. Only the hardcore koolaid drinkers still worship at the feet of this hatemonger. Hey Rush, how’d that Operation Chaos work out for your party? The gop got spanked in 06 and 08 and what do they do in response? They give more credibility to a man who has driven away moderates and independents. But hey goopers, if you insist on going deeper into the political wilderness, by all means, be my guest. The gop continues to alienate anyone that critiques the party, even the party faithful! As their numbers shrink, all thats left is the wingnutty of the wingnuttiest, total loons. All the while totally ignorant of the self-destruction. So goopers, do you think that if you prove Pelosi lied, that somehow that will stop your freefall? You might win a news cycle or 2 but after that your problems will still all be there, they ain’t going away.

athensboy on May 16, 2009 at 10:03 AM

Pelosi comes off like a baseball player who denies steroid use. Despite her gigantic muscle growth, hitting twice as many home runs, her trainer seeing her inject, her dealer admitting he sold it to her, her teammates and manager noticing the injections in the locker room, her husband divorcing her from all the ‘roid rage.
“No, I never did steroids. Everyone else is lying.”

It would be nice if “Nice 5:04 PM” understood the full story.

Rush told the truth about his problem, sought professional assistance using his own money, and recovered.

Nice 5:04 PM represents what is wrong with the current leadership in Disfunction Central D.C. He speak untruths without bothering to find out the facts and follow up.

We need a better quality of trolls. ‘Grow Fins’ was doing well yesterday. He/she was actually making arguments instead of trolling. “Nice,” however, probably is incapable of that. Too bad.

because most good paying jobs require DRUG testing

I think anyone receiving a government check should be required to undergo mandatory drug tests in order to continue getting that paycheck. This would include all those who are unwilling to work to receiv their paycheck (ie: Welfare).

Yes, this is off on a tangent, but I couldn’t help it. I work for the government and I am willing to submit to a drug test. It’s in my work agreement.
