Even now you occasionally see “B-29-san” in childrens’ shows; usually as a menacing boogeyman but occasionally (and even creepier) as a cartoonish spirit of peace. Steven Den Beste had a post about it a few years ago with pictures of the latter (it was a post about the Yamato as I recall). How broken did it ultimately get?
