Gore to Cheney: I waited two years to attack Bush!

posted at 8:29 pm on May 15, 2009 by Allahpundit

Well, no, he didn’t. And in all likelihood, the only reason he waited as long as he did was because it would have been bad form to knock Bush while he was dealing with 9/11. And, as Ace notes, unlike Cheney, Gore wasn’t being threatened with prosecution by Bush for his actions while in office. And also unlike Cheney, Gore’s criticisms of Bush were gratuitous policy disagreements, not matters about which he had inside information and felt obliged to correct the record as Cheney does vis-a-vis whether torture works.

But aside from those things, it’s exactly the same situation. Hey, let me know when Cheney shows up in Saudi Arabia to pummel Obama in front of the Wahhabis, okay? Click the image to watch.

Gore wasn’t being threatened with prosecution by Bush for his actions while in office

Because Al Gore was irrelevant as the vice President and after he left office.

Exept to the global warming truthers.

Kralizec on May 15, 2009 at 8:37 PM

Why anyone in their right mind would listen to a single word AlGore has to say is beyond me.

This is the guy who invented the internet, was a combat veteran of Vietnam, was a poor tobacco farmer (hard to do when living in the exclusive Fairfax Hotel in DC nine months out of the year), and on and on and on…

He has made a fortune from selling non-regulated securities (carbon credits) and has a personal carbon footprint the size of many nations.

Why give AlGore any kind of forum at all?

coldwarrior on May 15, 2009 at 8:38 PM

wccawa on May 15, 2009 at 8:38 PM

Boy, Cheney really really got under their skin with his media blitz, didn’t he? For a guy who is an irrelevant liar, and harmful for the GOP, he sure can shake the political landscape. Go get ‘em, Cheney.

If I recall correctly Gore spent those years trying to figure out what he was going to do for the rest of his life after blowing what should have been a cake-walk election.

He got fat, grew a beard, thought about teaching college and then made a little movie.

Speaking of which, Bill Clinton promised us that those troops would be home “by Christmas”. That was 10 years ago.

notagool on May 16, 2009 at 9:58 AM

George Bush didn’t come into office claiming he had a mandate to change America as we know it, as the Obama administration has done. George Bush didn’t set out to undo every policy of the previous administration in the first hundred days. George Bush didn’t have an ambitious plan to spend trillions while denouncing debt, or federalize whole industries, or threaten to create an internal security force equal in size and scope to the military.
In short, America doesn’t have the luxury of waiting to see what this current president is going to do. He is doing it now, in blitzkreig style, and GOP is too disorganized and demoralized to mount an effective defense. \
Dick Cheney is doing yeomans work pointing out the potential risks of Obama’s policies, and is rightly defending his administrations decisions from attacks by the current president himself (who apparently will never stop campaigning).
Bear in mind that when the currnet liar-in-chief says that we need to undo “the failed policies of the last eight years”, he really means to undo the successful policies of the last 233 years.

As long as Dick Cheney is given public forum to speak out, I hope he continues to do so. Where do you suppose we will be in two years, if there isn’t at least one voice of reasonable dissent?

OneEyedJack on May 16, 2009 at 9:58 AM

Al Gore lives here (I will not mention his neighborhood) in Nashville. I have met him on a few occasions. I never question what his motives are (they are so obvious), but do question his sanity. His perception of reality have long been in question since the 2000 debacle. The democrats had the Florida election so rigged that they failed because some democrats could not go through with it. Daley stole the 1960 election and is very responsible for getting his puppet elected this time. Politics has always been corrupt and our country will only suffer more as the corruption increases.
