Audio: Gingrich goes thermonuclear on Pelosi

Duck and cover before listening so that the force from this blast doesn’t knock you off your chair. Sample quotation:
“She is a trivial politician, viciously using partisanship for the narrowest of purposes, and she dishonors the Congress by her behavior.”
“Speaker Pelosi’s the big loser, because she either comes across as incompetent, or dishonest. Those are the only two defenses,” Gingrich said. “The fact is she either didn’t do her job, or she did do her job and she’s now afraid to tell the truth.”
Actually, there’s a third defense — that she’s telling the truth about the CIA having misled her, a remote possibility that seems ever so slightly less remote today thanks to Tom Maguire catching Porter Goss and Richard Shelby using weasel words about what and when, precisely, they knew. Still, yesterday’s question remains: If poor, innocent Madam Speaker is the victim of a CIA cover-up on a central moral question of the war on terror, why’d she wait four years to mention it? The prospect that intel officials might be suppressing evidence they’re required to disclose to Congress would seem to me somewhat more momentous than whether Pelosi first heard about waterboarding in the fall of 2002 or five months later, yet only now does she think to bring it up?
I’m obliged to link this New Majority piece claiming to have seen details of the briefings that fully support the CIA’s account, but it’s just vague enough and anonymously sourced that I wouldn’t put too much stock in it. Proceed with caution. Click the image to listen.

When Newt is good he is very very good.
Would it not be funny if the CIA had audio of these so called briefings?

Pelosi raises the revulsion factor to a new level. I’m glad somebody is finally calling her on it without couching their terminology in diplomatic language.
Pelosi is a disgrace, an absolute disgrace.

Gingrich was just too easy on Pelosi.
;)
It is great to hear Republicans confronting these idiots again, as Gingrich and Cheney are now doing, and others also beginning to follow suit. Heaven knows, the Left sure needs confronting.
My overall impression is that they’re far too presumptive in assuming they’re the jewels in some giant crown, immunie to any culpability on any of their radical (and today’s Left is extremely radically Leftwing) plans and deeds.
So, glad to read Gingrich isn’t mincing any words, though I believe he can go more harsh on Pelosi and it’d still be reasonable.
This morning, there was a “former CIA” guy who I wished had shouted down the idiot Democratic spokesperson lady who just would not stop talking over everyone. Her remarks were ludicrously uninformed — she was actually sitting there lecturing the world before a CIA Agent about what the CIA should/would/oughtta’ and the CIA guy exclaimed, “you don’t know WHAT you’re even talking about” (which was true).
This same Demo spokeslady, by the way, just last week pronounced all the huge spending by Obama/Dems as “not spending, we’re investing in our future” (by increasing debt to taxpayers!). The woman’s a Publicist or some such thing…
Anyway, great, Gingrich, come on swinging and stay that way. Steele isn’t going to make a dent.

What did she know, and when did she know it? Subpoenaes. Sworn testimony. Perjury.

A lot of things not to like about Newt. One thing I do love though, is his ability to take the fight verbally to the Democrats like no other. None of this collegial crap, just honest speaking of the truth, even if it’s not polite.
Makes me long for the days of the 104th Congress and the Contract With America.

Gingrich is still a worthless fake and sell-out. But he’s right about Pelosi, though I’d hardly call what he said “thermonuclear.” He’s just telling us what everyone — including the left — already knows.

Newt 2012!
davenp35 on May 15, 2009 at 2:23 PM
That is PRECISELY why this bomb Newt just dropped is so significant. He really did try to work with Pelosi. I think everyone wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt and give her some space in her first term as Speaker. Her skanky DailyKos partisanship and moonbattery could at least be somewhat explained away when there was a Republican president. But her behavior since Obama was inaugurated has been revolting, and indeed has tarnished the great office of the Speaker of the House. Kudos to Newt for calling her out.
rockmom on May 15, 2009 at 2:24 PM
Let’s hope this doesn’t mean the end of Nancy. We need her as Speaker. The GOP’s best weapon at this point.

I’m sorry but hearing a former congressman say something about “dishonroing the Congress” is simply laughable. I think that ship sailed a LONG time ago. What is ithat about honor among, um, thieves?
But well said otherwise…too bad he sat on that couch with the liar.
changer1701 on May 15, 2009 at 2:26 PM
The CIA has been backstabbed, scapegoated, deceived, used and abused since the 1940s. Equally, they are used to dealing with duplicitous, two faced, self serving, lying statesmen. Consider their runup with Carter.
I would not be in the least bit surprised if the CIA has an audio file of the entire meeting archived along with the powerpoint slide presentation. Bitten once by a viper, you learn to put on welding gloves next time you have to handle it.
I suspect they will wait for the dear congresslady from San Francisco to thrash a bit more before the scabbard is unsheathed.
kurtzz3 on May 15, 2009 at 2:27 PM
Sorry, she is a menace to the Republic and must be stopped by any means necessary. Her head on a pike, I say!

matthew26 on May 15, 2009 at 2:27 PM
I haven’t seen too much trolling on any of the Pelosi threads defending the slime ball. Not much to defend. “I was a couch with Newt when those briefings took place.”
kirkill on May 15, 2009 at 2:27 PM
Sorry, but if you couldn’t figure out what Nancy Pelosi was all about back in 2006-2007, you’re not smart enough to deserve the attention of the American conservative public.
Newt is an idiot.
2Brave2Bscared on May 15, 2009 at 2:28 PM
I kinda doubt it. They probably thought Pelosi was a dumb bimbo that they didn’t need to worry about too much. Certainly she is an intellectual midget compared to Jane Harman or Pete Hoekstra or Porter Goss.
rockmom on May 15, 2009 at 2:28 PM
Hell, they probably have the Airhead hooked up to a polygraph, confirming that she has been duly advised of the use of waterboarding – and videotape of every second of the briefings.
OhEssYouCowboys on May 15, 2009 at 2:28 PM

I have the vague suspicion that Gingrich would criticize Pelosi for wearing Hermes, not Armani, if it would poll well with the mainstream (it’s all about “controlling the conversation!”).
At least now. He was a warrior, once, and this is pure old-school.

When Richard Nixon got caught in his Watergate lies, good Republican leaders, such as Barry Goldwater, putting nation above party, went to him and told him that he had to go.
Nancy “Milhous” Pelsoi (aka, Richard Nixon on
botoxsteroids) has now been caught in her Waterboardgate with more lies, and more contradictory lies, than Richard Nixon ever was, so where are any good Democrat leaders to go to her and tell her she has got to go?Hello, President Obama, is this above your pay grade?
MB4 on May 15, 2009 at 2:35 PM
Name another Republican who could eat up Obama in a debate (or ANY of his policy wonk advisors). Name another Republican who acts as aggressively as Newt does. He may have taken some actions in the past you don’t like, but as far as being an asset to conservatism in general, there aren’t many that reach his level.

Gingrich = House Speaker
Pelosi = House Liar.
(Have I mentioned that Pelosi is kept in office by people who practice the bizarre hobby of scrotum inflation, publicly?)
BobMbx on May 15, 2009 at 2:35 PM
She is the dumbest politician I have heard speak in a very long time. I cannot believe how the media goes on and on about the anti-intellectualness of Sarah Palin when they have so much material w/the mentally midgeted Speaker of the House!
JAM on May 15, 2009 at 2:35 PM
The very notion of Nancy Pelosi finding out that someone had pulled the wool over her eyes about doing something that she claims she was so strongly against, and keeping quiet about it for four years is absolutely preposterous. Especially if it had anything to do with the previous administration, for whom she’s had nothing but contempt for since day one. So no, her story isn’t the least bit believable. Good for you Newt. Let’s hear from the rest of the party about this two-faced liar.
scalleywag on May 15, 2009 at 2:36 PM
I asked this in another thread: Where the hell are the Republicans?
Thanks to Newt and Cheney for speaking out, but frankly, they “have nothing to lose” since they are not in office. But Boehner, Cantor, McConnell, etc. should be out there condemning her. They do have something to lose – their next elections.
Brat on May 15, 2009 at 2:36 PM
We need to encourage the Blue Dogs to do just this. It will both benefit their party and their country.

Well, that is almost understandable if you keep in mind the entirety of the event. It’s not everyday a Speaker Of the House accuses the CIA of lying on live TV.
