I would never use the term “bastard” when referring to a child, it’s not up to them how they came into the world. That said, children with only one parent do seem to get into more trouble than kids form traditional families. I remember twenty years ago when Farrah Fawcett was heralded as a courteous woman for having “a baby out of wedlock” (my age is showing). Sadly, her son has been in and out of trouble most of his short life. Makes you wonder.

Don’t sermonize people about basic English. “Bastard” is a legitimate word for an illegitimate child. Just like “gay” means “happy”.

Just because a word hurts one’s feelings doesn’t change its definition, and certainly doesn’t mean it can’t be used.

If Hollywood put all of its ‘virginity is for suckers’ energy into promoting ’saving sex till marriage,’ I bet we’d see a very different, much more lopsided statistic.

Dubious. IMHO the only affect it would have, is that it would influence kids to have sex later — which isn’t a bad thing.

But I still agree Holly “wood” (heh) is still promoting sex-ee-ality way too much.

In this one weekend I will be celebrating, 34 years of marriage, Mother’s Day, daughter’s birthday and husband’s birthday. What could go wrong?

My own take on sexuality is that what the other person “thinks” really isn’t my business.

But, maybe that’s a remnant of a long-term marriage. We just rather enjoyed that part of our lives.
