Trump to emotional Miss California: You’re not fired
posted at 12:35 pm on May 12, 2009 by Allahpundit
A happy conclusion to a clusterfark, notwithstanding the 11th-hour release this morning of one last round of not-safe-for-work-ish topless photos to try to get her fired. (Prejean’s excuse for the open blouse: It was a, er, windy day.) Trump could have half-assed this with hemming and hawing about how he’s “deeply troubled” by nip-slip photos and outspoken politics or whatever, but not only did he call her answer “honorable,” he went out of his way to rub progressives’ faces in the fact that The One holds the same position she does. In fact, according to one of our commenters, he told the press later, “You should be ashamed of yourselves.” A strange admonition coming from a notorious media whore, but we’ll take it.
Below the Trump vid you’ll find Miss Cali’s statement, the emotional highlight of which comes at 2:25 when she talks about her grandfather. It’s a silly point in two ways — there are no constitutional issues here and there’s no hard proof that she lost the pageant because of her answer — but if there were ever any suspicions that she was in on this circus for publicity reasons, the tears ought to put them to rest.
Note to pageant organizers: If you don’t want your spokeswomen swept up in political controversies, don’t ask them questions about divisive political issues. End of story.

It is all about the pub for the Donald…
d1carter on May 12, 2009 at 12:40 PM
I wouldn’t call it an “excuse”. She was wearing a vest, right? And she was trying to keep herself covered, right?
So she lost the battle a couple of times. It happens.
capitalist piglet on May 12, 2009 at 12:40 PM
Gotta admit, she looked good in the TMZ pics.
FlyoverJ-HawkFan on May 12, 2009 at 12:40 PM
Of course the fun part will be the reactions to the news, not necessarily the news itself. Perez drawn little pee doodles on a picture of The Donald yet? I have never been to his site and don’t plan to start looking now.
Marcus on May 12, 2009 at 12:41 PM
No he’ll just draw pee doodles aiming for his own mouth. His hero must be Maplethorpe.
FlyoverJ-HawkFan on May 12, 2009 at 12:43 PM
I think it was great that Donald Trump said that the president agrees with her view. I think it was great that Prejean said even the secretary of state agreed with her view as well.

i hope this dosen’t mean that somebody is going to start leaking topless Trump photos to the media, YUK!

That it does.

And another thing. : )
I think this does speak, though indirectly, to constitutional issues.
There are other countries in whose footsteps we seem to be following that are getting uncomfortably restrictive in terms of speech.
We don’t want to go there. This whole episode should serve as a warning.

For the first time in my life I am not proud of my country. In fact on Nov. 4th I took my military decorations that I coveted, along with my rank insignia and ribbons and threw them in the trash.

What’s this “WE” stuff, Allah?
Aren’t you a proponent of gay marriage?
Religious_Zealot on May 12, 2009 at 12:48 PM
I think Trump handled this beautifully, and I think Miss Cali will now discharge her official duties with grace and responsibilty.
But perhaps after november when shes replaced we can look forward to her appearing in one of these.

I’m pretty sure that the Donald and Perez are good buddies. One of this seasons episodes on the “Celebrity Apprentice” featured Perez as an expert at getting a video to go viral for some kind of detergent.
Yeah…..I watch the goofy TV program. It’s a great advertisement on botox gone bad!
Knucklehead on May 12, 2009 at 12:50 PM
Isn’t there a very strong push for laws against hate crimes in this country?
Isn’t homosexuality a “class” that would be “protected” in said hate crime legislation?
Thus, couldn’t/wouldn’t speaking out against gay marriage be considered a “hate crime”?
Religious_Zealot on May 12, 2009 at 12:50 PM
Trump made the right decision, but I’m betting the hetrophobic media won’t leave it alone. Miss California’s speech is very classy.

Ronald Reagan would be proud of a young girl standing up for her beliefs, coming from his home state.
I don’t see what the big hoopla is all about.
This after all, about an (almost) naked woman….. something we have all seen numerous times at the beach.
She believes the same as 0bama does, so everything is cool.
Oh! I know what this is, this is a publicity stunt by the Whitehouse to reinforce Obama’s Christian view of the traditional view of marriage!
Aaaaah yes! I think I hit the nail on the head!!

From the headline thread:
While I am joyful that the right decision was made…
…I’m now going to find a dark corner and quietly weep over a nation where it is headline news when a woman gets to keep her job when she voices her honest opinion (and one held by the majority of Americans).
Religious_Zealot on May 12, 2009 at 12:52 PM
Miss California’s statement was strong, confident, and conclusive. In fact it was the polar opposite of Mr Hilton’s immature, screetching, diatribe. I am proud to have this woman represent California.

I am still trying to figure out why the stinkin sack of Democraps on the left think its HORRIBLE JUST HORRIBLE for a beautiful young woman would pose partially nude for modeling shots…
yet…
These same self serving double standard dipshits better known as liberals have NO PROBLEM AT ALL watching 50 year old Bulldykes who are out of shape, unshaven slovenly and frankly ugly as dog butt march down the Gay Parade Routes in San Farisky and NEw Yawk Ceetay with their saggy wrinkled milk sacks swinging in the breeze and fully exposed for all the world to see as they flap from side to side slapping against their sweaty beer bellies under their rainbow flag.
btw, i am gay so don’t bother flaming me as a homophobe. I am just a saggyboobphobe.

I still don’t think those photos look like her, but I agree with her on the photographer.
Esthier on May 12, 2009 at 12:56 PM
This is what makes the reaction on DU so funny. They are almost ready to stone this young woman to death, but they are completely dancing around Obama’s position on it. Someone mentioned that Trump pointed out her agreement with Obama at the beginning of the thread, and that was it. The rest was pretty much “STONE HER!”
I find this fascinating. Nothing can touch that guy with his followers.

She may not be the most polished speaker in the world and perhaps does not have the intellectual gravitas that others do, but she seems to speak some truths there that the polished intelligentsia won’t speak or perhaps don’t even understand. Where does that come from? Character? Faith? Honesty?
Maybe “gravitas” and intellectual pretension aren’t all that after all.

I used to not care if they got married or not. Who am I to dictate marital issues when I’ve been divorced three times. But since the Prop 8 lunacy and a young woman answering a question honestly (finally) I hope they get nothing ever. The only thing I support about homosexuality and government now is abolishing all sodomy laws since government has no business in our bedrooms.

As far as “hard proof,” how about Shana Moakler, the co-director of the Miss USA Pageant, telling CBS News:
I don’t have a link for that, but I transcribed it just now from an April 21st Dennis Prager podcast. He played the audio.
But that sounds like a pageant official admitting point blank that Miss Prejean lost the contest when she answered the question.
Kensington on May 12, 2009 at 1:10 PM
In my opinion, as a photographer, she’s being honest. Those shots are the type of inadvertent “peekaboo” shots that happen quite often in shoots involving skimpy clothing. She’s trying to keep herself covered not show off the world what God gave her.
In my experience shots like that usually get filed away never to see the light of day… I for one agree with Ms. Prejean the behavior of the photographer in releasing those shots is reprehensible.
While he (or she) is probably within his (or her) legal rights releasing those photos was in my opinion unethical.

The left sees us as their only real enemy. I wouldn’t chuck any of my decorations, but I sort of stumble over The Soldiers Creed these days. I don’t feel like I support all the people of the United States.

I do understand your anger. I have, on many occasions, since I left the Marine Corps in 75 after 18months in Nam as well, considered the value of my medals and ribbons . If you remember those years, I had several reasons to toss them. I did not , for one simple reason, I needed them as reminders of an honorable, in my mind, duty I performed. I cared not about the population of this God forsaken country at that time. My son is now in Iraq and I know now that by his seeing my decorations, he is more proud of me and his and mine respective services, than I could have hoped. I thank you for your service , all the same.

ExTex on May 12, 2009 at 1:21 PM
Any future discussion of the question by Prejean should simply echo what Trump said, in that her views or gay marriage are the same as the president’s views. Just giving that answer forces the media and the gay community to either take the question higher up in the pay scale, to Obama himself, or just drop their harassment efforts against Prejean (though I expect if she does follow The Donald’s lead, they’ll simply try to continue the harassment without trying to get into the subtext, in order to keep Obama out of the issue).

They hate the fricking military — they’re just too afraid to say it.
They think the military just brainwashes young men into killers.
As I said, they will never EVER admit it.
I’ll never forget at the weekly rally I attend, some left-tard came to me cause I called him a douche. Got in my face and tried to fight, and when the vets came to defend me, he said to them:
“Eh Im not gonna waste my strength on you guys (pointing to the WWII vet) — yea, you’re gonna drop dead one of these days anyway.”
I felt sick. How can people do that? Easy — they hate America, hate the military, and hate soldiers.
So yea, Hawk, Flyover, don’t let the dumb f*cks get you down. There are more people here in the US that love the military than do not.
