Trump to emotional Miss California: You’re not fired

posted at 12:35 pm on May 12, 2009 by Allahpundit

A happy conclusion to a clusterfark, notwithstanding the 11th-hour release this morning of one last round of not-safe-for-work-ish topless photos to try to get her fired. (Prejean’s excuse for the open blouse: It was a, er, windy day.) Trump could have half-assed this with hemming and hawing about how he’s “deeply troubled” by nip-slip photos and outspoken politics or whatever, but not only did he call her answer “honorable,” he went out of his way to rub progressives’ faces in the fact that The One holds the same position she does. In fact, according to one of our commenters, he told the press later, “You should be ashamed of yourselves.” A strange admonition coming from a notorious media whore, but we’ll take it.

Below the Trump vid you’ll find Miss Cali’s statement, the emotional highlight of which comes at 2:25 when she talks about her grandfather. It’s a silly point in two ways — there are no constitutional issues here and there’s no hard proof that she lost the pageant because of her answer — but if there were ever any suspicions that she was in on this circus for publicity reasons, the tears ought to put them to rest.

Note to pageant organizers: If you don’t want your spokeswomen swept up in political controversies, don’t ask them questions about divisive political issues. End of story.

Looks like the only men in the room are the women… Carrie and Sarah. They are the only one with guts enough to speak from their hearts even when it is unpopular. Where have all the men gone? Oh yea… I forgot… they’re on a “listening tour.”

Correction:

PrincipledPilgrim on May 12, 2009 at 6:22 PM

A big “Bravo!” to Carrie Prejean!

And a huge “Boo! Hiss!” to the gay activists and media whose malicious character assassination attempts speak volumes to their character.

chalons on May 12, 2009 at 6:31 PM

Next time they should just ask “Did you vote republican or Democrat”…

I’m still trying to figure out why the pageant employed a gay guy to judge a female beauty pageant. Wouldn’t a heterosexual male (e.g. AllahPundit) be more appropriate?

jediwebdude on May 12, 2009 at 6:13 PM

Because there is this weird idea that gay men are intrinsically fashion savvy. An interest in all-things female does not a fashion maven make.

Mommypundit on May 12, 2009 at 7:03 PM

Thumbs up for Trump for defending Ms. California, but down for wanting Perez Hilton to judge again.

Half a pair is better than none.

greenLibertarian on May 12, 2009 at 7:17 PM

I find it an even trade off. Miss CA keeps her cubic zirconia crown, and Trump chooses the outrageous and very gay-friendly Joan Rivers as his new Apprentice. Both sides won this week boys!

But you must admit, to find the gay ones in a group you must only look for the ones who are best dressed and groomed. Stereotypes are there for a reason. The gays know how to look good!

dcwvu on May 12, 2009 at 7:22 PM

Trump is the epitome of a snake oil salesman. Any woman who enters his scam of a beauty pageant will not have the class of what the pageant has represented over the years. Get in line brothel babes so the Trumpster can exploit you like Jerry Springer exploits the lowest forms of life. Those who have thought the pageant is shallow and degrading to women haven’t seen anything yet. The winner will get what she deserves.

who would be crazy enough to fire this girl???

all she would have to do is show up!!! who cares if she actually works???

especially at the place I work…its bad…if you know what I mean…

dcwvu on May 12, 2009 at 7:22 PM

Positive stereotypes, or countertypes, may be as harmful as negative stereotypes, because they are still oversimplified views of a particular group. Gay men are most often equated interchangeably with women by the mainstream and are frequently stereotyped as being effeminate. While they are attributed as having traditional female interests such as love of shopping and personal style, they promote these stereotypes of themselves and of women, as a parody. I used to find this gender-bending courageous and inspirational, especially since gay men were targeted for abuse because of these same stereotypes (women being weak and defenseless), but less so now that gay men have joined the male abusers.

Conservative Voice on May 12, 2009 at 9:02 PM

Yeah, me too. Honestly, I’ve lost a lot of respect for her. First, sleazy pictures, then she lies about it. And a completely ridiculous lie at that. I’m glad she didn’t lose the crown, because they were going after her for a terrible reason. Still, I am very disappointed and really hope she found her faith after dabbling in soft porn.

Isn’t this why Vanessa Williams lost her crown?

And I had such hopes that she was a person I could hold up as a role model for my 11 year old daughter. At least I still have Sarah.

pannw on May 12, 2009 at 10:05 PM

Oh good grief. She’s a model. She didn’t pose in a men’s magazine. There’s a difference.

But still a cutie pie.

Unlike her detractors, who need couth implants.

I agree she looked much better without those ridiculous grapefruits on her chest.

As for lying about the pictures, she has something in common with Dr. Laura now.

I think the worst thing is the thought police state we live in.

deewhybee on May 13, 2009 at 12:54 AM

What is the point of having a gay male judging a female beauty contest?
It’s idiotic, like having a vegan PETA member judging a cattle stock show.

TexasJew on May 13, 2009 at 1:22 AM

She may not be a role model Christian yet, but she sure is a role model for fighting political correctness. You go, girl! Hope conservative politicians are taking notes.
And as I said when this first came out, she won! What’s the name of the new Miss USA?

Christian Conservative on May 13, 2009 at 2:38 AM

I’m so sick of ‘The Donald’.

But, I do admire his stand to fly his big U.S. flag down in Florida.

I’ve been trying to remember when individual Citizens have been publicly smeared and attacked so violently for their beliefs and not involving things taken as racial slurs. Until Joe the Plumber last year, I can’t think of any?

Trump to emotional Miss California: You’re not fired

Thumbs up for Carrie Perjean, who shouldn’t have lost ANYTHING whatsoever over some misguided gay (_O_) with an agenda. My disappointment, and a BIG thumbs down to Donald Trump for playing the middle of the road, by inviting gay freak Perez Hilton back again, as a judge.

Religious_Zealot on May 12, 2009 at 11:27 PM

Do you have young children?

You know, if you are a zealot, I have to wonder to what religion you ascribe if you think those pictures in any way make this woman a role model for young Christian girls.

Sometimes the truth hurts. She made a huge mistake making those pictures, made it worse by claiming it was something it wasn’t. She has fed right into the liberals hands by appearing to be a hypocrite, and I’m sorry if you don’t like hearing it, but she does. Devout Christian women do NOT pose nude. They also own up to their mistakes and show a little repentance rather than blaming the wind.

But go on and call me a Sorros plant. You make yourself an idiot when you attack the truth, even if all the other devout conservatives on the site agree with you.

And to be clear, as I said before, I’m glad they didn’t take her title. I’m glad she stood up to the PC/homosexual mafia. There is hope for her yet. I just hope she realizes the pictures were not a good thing; that she doesn’t need that to be successful; that she’s too good for that sleazy crap, and doesn’t do it any more.

She’s young and none of us (me included) are perfect, but as of now; she goes into the same category with the other ‘celebrities’ who provide a bad example for my little girl. I am most sincerely sorry about that.

So let me get this straight…

…you want to come after ME after you decide to accept hook, line and sinker all the crap coming from the left…

…and showing not the least bit of forgiveness or understanding?

I wonder, when you read the Bible do you skip over all the letters written by Saul/Paul because of what he USED to do?

And you probably think that the disciples were bad role models because of the things THEY used to do.

So, please don’t lecture me on faith when you’ve got a huge plank sticking in your eye.

Religious_Zealot on May 13, 2009 at 8:55 AM

I say keep it up!! They will fill the airwaves with poo-pooing whats right and keep looking like asses. The libs are just showing what kind of scum they are. With this girl and Palin fighting for whats good in America, and being overly attractive in doing it, well, I think we can tip the scale in our favor and get on with restoring whats good.

Religious_Zealot on May 13, 2009 at 8:55 AM

I’m sorry, but are you actually reading my posts? Let me repeat myself.

As to forgiveness, I am all for it. Not that she needs mine, but I haven’t seen where she has admitted to doing anything that needs forgiveness. Granted, I don’t follow every single link to stories about her (particulary since I don’t really want to see anymore sleazy pics), so maybe she has, but did she not blame the wind? If that is something made up, I am happy to apologize. However, I’ve seen the pictures. There really is only one way to explain them. Has she? If so, I’d like to know where, because believe it or not, I want to support her.

However, I think many of you are doing with her what Palin supporters are accused of; refusing to admit there is anything at all wrong with what she has done. Apparently you don’t think there is. I disagree and stand by my position. I don’t want my little girl thinking posing nude to entice people to lust is anything but wrong. Maybe I am the religious zealot, but I take my faith seriously, and in turn, expect those who claim to share it to do the same. It’s that whole bringing scandal thing I keep trying to shield my children from and that gets more and more difficult to do.

pannw on May 13, 2009 at 10:21 AM

However, I think many of you are doing with her what Palin supporters are accused of; refusing to admit there is anything at all wrong with what she has done.

You, of course, are missing the point.

First off, secularly speaking (which is the view point of the left), she didn’t do ANYTHING ‘wrong.’

Whether she committed any ‘sins’ is open to discussion and depends on who you believe about the photos. Miss Prejean has stated that some of the pictures where photoshopped (and looked it!) and others were outtakes from a prior photo shoot that weren’t supposed to be released to the public.

But again, the REAL point has nothing to do with her sins.

As a human being, she of course has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (just like you and I).

But we need to very much remember that THAT isn’t the point.

First off, the left doesn’t really care or knows about real Christian values. Thus even ENTERING into a discussion about it is to lose the argument. Never discuss a topic on your enemies terms.

Second, we should be laughing our heads off at the left trying to convince us to be morally outraged. As has been said, these are the same people that think that it’s A-OK to take a fetus that somehow survived an abortion and just leave it in a trashcan to die. I’m certainly not going to allow them to discuss morality with me until they understand that killing children is wrong.

Third, the issue was and continues to be her view on gay marriage and the left’s display of “tolerance” and “diversity.”

Or, to put it another way:

As I said earlier, I do believe a theological argument can be made that it is a sin to pose provocatively for the public. Now, it should be noted that such a conversation is full of annoying gray areas (where do you draw the line between normal, acceptable clothing and clothing that provokes feelings of lust?)

However, I’m not going to have that discussion now because that’s EXACTLY the kind and type of discussion the left WANTS us to have. The point being that it distracts us from the REAL issues going on here.

Religious_Zealot on May 13, 2009 at 10:58 AM

I don’t give a rip about homosexuality per se. I don’t much care what people do in their spare time so long as I’m not involved or affected.

On the other hand, I despise militant homosexuality because it does involve and affect me. The bastards seem to be intent on radically reforming the very basics of society – family and moral beliefs – so that they will be not merely tolerated, but instead lauded and approved. At the same time, those of us who differ in opinion are castigated as bigots and “homophobes” (an amusing term that stretches to imply that we were actually afraid of them instead of indifferent, amused, or determined to resist the imposition of a culture which will be radically intolerant of us.)

The homosexual Kulturekampf has changed my opinion, all right, but not in the way that may have been desired. I now view homosexuals not people to be tolerated despite their different views and mores, but instead as intolerant social revolutionaries allied with organized crime who intend to create a society in which I will have neither a place nor a voice. And that, rather than their spare-time private recreational practices, is what I find to be intolerable about homosexuals.

For what it’s worth, I think you are absolutely right. We can applaud Carrie for standing up to political correctness and standing for her rights to speak and even for thanking God publically and declaring her Christianity. But so many Christians actresses, models and others have done things which are detrimental to their ability to be role models as Christians. They somehow get “seduced” by the Hollywood culture to think it’s OK to be in a position where their witness is compromised. (Of course, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” So if we restrict everyone who has sinned from active Christian leadership, no one will be qualified.) I’m all for Carrie and hope that she becomes a real Christian role model. Perhaps this incident will help her to do so. I pray so.
