Radio silence: Limbaugh ignores Sykes

No joy in Dittoville tonight. I don’t get it.

Talk-radio fans and political junkies buzzed in anticipation about what Mr. Limbaugh might say on his national, three-hour radio show.

Instead of retaliating against Ms. Sykes, Mr. Limbaugh spent much of the show praising former Vice President Dick Cheney, who on Sunday was much kinder.

Politico caught this bit near the end of the show and assumed he was referring to Gibbs’s statement:

During his show Monday — his first since Saturday night’s dinner — Limbaugh alluded to the dinner just once, calling it “showbiz for ugly people, that’s what politics is.”

There was, however, a mysterious moment during the show’s final minutes, when Limbaugh interrupted a dialogue on fiscal policy and, in a statement seemingly directed at his prodding producer, said, “How can they be running a response, when I didn’t respond? Well, there isn’t going to be a response!”

Why doesn’t he want to respond? Sykes is small potatoes, admittedly, but it’s not Sykes who’s the problem actor here. It’s Obama, for laughing stupidly at material that obnoxious and then having his own press secretary lie to the press corps about how The One supposedly believes it’s no laughing matter. This is as golden an example as you’ll ever have of shameless leftist hypocrisy over demonizing one’s opponents, and all the more so given Obama’s crap about “changing the tone in Washington” during the campaign. And Limbaugh’s going to punt on it? Any insight into what’s going on here, Rush fans? You know his thinking better than I ever will.

Update (Ed): I didn’t ask Rush about this during our interview because, well, he was interviewing me.  Besides, if he wanted to talk about it, he had three hours in which to do it today.  My guess: it’s small potatoes, as I wrote yesterday.  Why add fuel to the fire and give Wanda Sykes credibility and a platform?  As for Obama laughing at the joke, well … res ipsa loquitur.

Something for Obama to ponder as he takes a drag from his Kool.

Wow a simplistic fat joke

Congrats

Making jokes about 9/11 is stupid, and Obama shouldnt laughed.

That said, what Obama did isnt even remotely close to as offensive as Bush’s “Where did those darn WMD go?” jokes. Obama made a brief mistake in the moment. Bush actively took part in a skit about how he foolishly got us into a war which has killed and maimed thousands of Americans.

Rush is a man of character, principal and values. I’m very proud and happy that he did not even acknowledge what was said. Rush is passionate and I’m sure they were expecting to see some of that. Way to go big guy!

And Obama foolishly pumps more troops into Afghanistan. The Afghans took care of the USSR as I remember and we have luke warm support from the NATO countries.

While Bush’s comment was not advisable I imagine he got sick of hearing about the WMDs that many many people thought Iraq had. It is common to make jokes of such supposed mistakes. So I would not put much into it.

Wanda Sykes is a donut, and a stale one at that.

Obama was the one caught on video laughing at 9/11 jokes – the story is his reaction….not Rush’s non reaction.

I hope the GOP is collecting a file of this stuff for 2010. A nice shot of Scare Force One flying over panicked New Yorkers running for their lives in downtown Manhattan, then cut to a clip of Obama laughing at Wanda Sykes’ joke, would make good fodder for a commercial.

I think I was absolutely correct, and the first to mention that Rush was using his airtime to rehab Cheney’s image.

Score one for me, none for you, whoever you are.

Pretty lame – the lefties on Guardian Talk are more vicious by magnitudes than you are, and I don’t back down to them either. Whoever you are.

Cheney is disinterested in PRing himself. People like you don’t recognize patriots when you see them – which is one of the reasons we’re entering the twilight zone of Obama’s new facism.

“As for Obama”…”[w]hy add fuel to the fire and give” him “credibility and a platform?”

Another hilarious liberal. Hey, we can go to Hawaii, Obama still has the blow connections as he sure blows as a president. Remember, libs always give people a second chance, right? Except when a conservative has a problem.

I got it now an ACORN does not fall far from the tree.

Come on lib. You forgot war for oil, pipeline in Afghanistan, feed the corporate machine…and HALLIBURTON no bid contracts. Get it together!!!

Obama claims sainthood and in typical liberal hypocrisy:

1. praises the troops and cuts medical funding.
2. laughs at drug addiction of others and HAS A
HISTORY OF DRUG ABUSE.

3. Talks to Israel about support and Jerusalem as its
capitol and the next day talks to
the arabs and claims a 2 party solution with Jerusalem
split.
4. Claims to be a Christian and supports infanticide and
shuns the national day of prayer.
5. Claims to want to talk with Iran during the primaries,
denies it and now wants to talk with Iran as other
dictators call him a moron.
6. Cinco de Quatro?
7. TELEPROMPTORS R US. the guy is horrible away from the
prompter. No wonder he blew the inaugration oath.

AND YOU BUFFOONS CLAIM HE IS SMART? Bush could at least talk without a prompter.

dthorny on May 13, 2009 at 4:58 AM

Rush is doing the right thing. Ignore it. By not acknowledging the comment drives the left up the wall because that is what they are waiting for so they are justified to call you a racist or some other derogatory label.

Remember-”We must confront stupidity and ignorance otherwise it goes on thinking it is alright.”
