Terry, if you’re wondering why you’re getting a bunch of sarcastic responses, it’s because you’ve scuttled the debate in classic lib fashion by declaring certain historical facts off-limits. You make sweeping statements about conservatism moving too slow for America, and then when we ask for examples, you either a) can’t provide any, or b) provide the common example of slavery, and then accuse anyone who chooses to engage you on the subject of injecting race into the discussion. And every historical example we might give (comparing current presidents and candidates to those past, which is a valid and instructive exercise)is void, because it means we’re not focused on the future.
Hence, I can only conclude what I always have: Conservatives study history, and Liberals invent it.
