Poll: Obamateurism of the Week?
posted at 8:30 am on May 10, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
What was the Obamateurism of the Week? So many choices, and only one to choose. Out of cinco choices, you’ll have to pass on cuatro of them, so choose wisely. If you cheat, though, we’ll have to sic the administration’s best on you. We may even fine you 0.5% of the cost of the prosecution. That would be like a tax cut … if you’re in India.
Previous winners:
- Phony Churchill quote on torture throws Grandpa under the bus
- Torture probe flip-flop
- Obama covers up IHS while quoting Jesus
- Austrian is a language?
- Obama bows to the Saudi king
- 1908 Model T got better gas mileage than today’s SUVs

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

I’m going cinco just because it is exactly the sort of thing W would have been pilloried for.

Trying to influence the voting Ed? ;-)
conservnut on May 10, 2009 at 8:43 AM
Can I vote more than once?
You know Ed, week after week, seeing this stuff drip, drip, drip…
it starts to seem another form of TORTURE !!!!
Be careful, you may be in front of Congress next.
singlemalt_18 on May 10, 2009 at 8:46 AM
Nice set up to the poll, Ed.
I went with the tax cheats being sought by Geithener. While not a humorous slip of the tongue or horrible misphrasing, it is the perfect example of what the Obama Presidncy is.

I concur.
Plus it’s the pure irony of idiocy, yet nobody in the MSM seems to connect the dots. What a surprise.
tru2tx on May 10, 2009 at 8:56 AM
Exactly.
…and the only Obama even does something so monumentally arrogant and clueless is because he will not be pilloried for it by the MSM that voted for him.
cruadin on May 10, 2009 at 8:58 AM
I choose the tax cuts as I certainly won’t get one. I guess I’m not the color of the day.
DannoJyd on May 10, 2009 at 9:24 AM
So many good ones. It’s hard to choose the best from this week.
Nethicus on May 10, 2009 at 9:29 AM
I wish I could view this. My pc refuses to even open the not PC page.
DannoJyd on May 10, 2009 at 9:30 AM
Fixed.
jgapinoy on May 10, 2009 at 9:36 AM
Agreed – too many good choices this week.
I went with the tax cut reference because it epitomizes how squishy the language has gotten and how poor the reporting has been. It ranks up there with ‘jobs gained or saved.’
Peri Winkle on May 10, 2009 at 9:38 AM
It’s getting so that the “Weekly Obamateurism” should become a television show.
Shy Guy on May 10, 2009 at 9:43 AM
All of them are totally worthy. It’s probably time to start Obama’s presidential library of famous F…Up’s. We are barely into four months and the man has enough to fill up an entire building. Let the fund raising begin!
BetseyRoss on May 10, 2009 at 9:44 AM
I went with the Timmy & Charlie tax cheat show. How Timmy ever gave that speech with a straight face is beyond me. Cracked me up.
Kissmygrits on May 10, 2009 at 9:45 AM
Hmmm…What to choose…What…to…choose…
bluelightbrigade on May 10, 2009 at 9:46 AM
Okay…I picked “Cinco de Quatro”…but only because it was merely Freudian…
bluelightbrigade on May 10, 2009 at 9:47 AM
for me, there’s too many choices with substance to fall for the cinco de quatro. That’s simply going the route the libbies did with Bush – actions speak louder than words. I went with the $17 million in budget cuts but could have easily been swayed to the tax cheats chasing tax cheats.

Can we have another category “All the above”?

I’m with Oldnuke, this week in particular.

Tax cheats going after tax cheats is definately out there. Now if Obama would just send some idiots to deal with the idiots in his cabinet.
Hog Wild on May 10, 2009 at 11:21 AM
Is this for real ????????
Something happened… H.R. 1388 was passed yesterday, behind our backs. It wasn’t mentioned on the news… just went by
on the ticker tape at the bottom of the CNN screen.
Obama funds $20M in tax payer dollars to immigrate Hamas Refugees to the
USA. This is the news that didn’t make the headlines…
By executive order, President Barack Obama has ordered the expenditure of
$20.3 million in “migration assistance” to the Palestinian refugees and
“conflict victims” in Gaza.
The “presidential determination”, which allows hundreds of thousands of
Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in the United States, was signed
on January 27 and appeared in the Federal Register on February 4.
Few on Capitol Hill, or in the media, took note that the order provides a
free ticket replete with housing and food allowances to individuals who
have displayed their overwhelming support to the Islamic Resistance Movement
(Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006.
Let’s review…itemized list of some of Barack Obama’s most recent
actions since his inauguration:
– His first call to any head of state, as president, was to Mahmoud Abbas,
leader of Fatah party in the Palestinian territory.
– His first one-on-one television interview with any news organization was
with Al Arabia television.
– His first executive order was to fund/facilitate abortion(s) not just here
within the U. S., but within the world, using U. S. tax payer funds.
– He ordered Guantanamo Bay closed and all military trials of detainees
halted.
– He ordered overseas CIA interrogation centers closed.
– He withdrew all charges against the masterminds behind the USS Cole and
the “terror attack” on 9/11.
– Now we learn that he is allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinian
refuges to move to, and live in…
the US at American taxpayer expense.
These important, and insightful, issues are being “lost” in the blinding
bail-outs and “stimulation” packages.
Doubtful? To verify this for yourself:

I hate Obama no more than he hates me.

Need to be able to vote five times this week.
Jim708 on May 10, 2009 at 1:17 PM
I lingered so long on the “tax cheats,” but just how clueless do you have to be to so casually insult allies?
India for the win!
ThereGoesTheNeighborhood on May 10, 2009 at 1:26 PM
Actually, this isn’t really funny anymore. His actions are cold, calculated, and in your face. :(
califdreamnred on May 10, 2009 at 5:19 PM
The winner,17 Billion in cuts, for the week!
canopfor on May 10, 2009 at 5:50 PM
Had to go with the India Tax Haven. Nothing spells out more clearly how utterly clueless this Administration is about the way that the world works. Outside of government-financed, politically-driven community organizations, that is.
The Obama Presiduncy.

This was the hardest one yet to choose just uno. They are all “winners.” Somebody call Glenn Beck; I need some duct tape so my head won’t explode!
College Prof on May 10, 2009 at 8:07 PM
Probably the only one so far where all the choices could be winners on their own. What a week.

Is there a poll tax? 32 comments in 12 hours… 2283 votes… I’m # 336 for cinco.
ericdijon on May 10, 2009 at 8:47 PM
India is a tax haven!
People there work for about a fifth what American workers are paid. That’s like a massive tax cut!

So hard to choose this week. So many quality candidates!
