Via This Ain’t Hell, here’s the best thing you’ll see today. We already knew from the surge that Petraeus was a miracle worker — but evidently we didn’t know the extent of it. Forward this to a vet you love.

Thank you Brian & General Paetraus for you dedication!

Currahee!

To Stand Alone. Independent. Self Sufficient. Heroes.

The exact opposite of where we are today. Coincidence? I think not.

Elections have consequences.

Ugh…you should have warned us about the little CBS commercial at the beginning.

That Lt.Brennan just made me feel guilty about some of the petty bitching I do in my life sometimes. He is a man who when faced with a difficult challenge stood tall and took it head on.
I wish I had half his courage.

Currahee!

Wow! Best thing I’ve ever seen out of CBS. We are praying for all our military and their families. Thank You Lord for Brian Brennan and all those like him. And thank You for General Petraeus and for giving him a word of wisdom.

P.S. to Hawkdriver — Hope you see this. You’re still in our thoughts and prayers. Stay safe!

I don’t want to pretend to be like any of the great men and women in this video, but as I often find myself feeling that I am standing alone, surrounded by people who have lost their senses, I think that word “Currahee” is going to be on my mind a lot from now on.

Maybe we conservatives need to think about that word… Currahee. We don’t do the group-think thing all that well, but I do think we believe in individual responsibility and honor, and this seems like a good reminder of it.

Probably being happy to be a well-respected military general who’ll go down as one of the greatest, rather than being torn apart by the left for daring to oppose Obama.

My father was a 32 year Air Force veteran who served his country through three wars. This is one of the few things that would have made him proud of his country today. I’m just glad he is not around to see the cavalier treatment that our military heroes are receiving from this abysmal administration.

ThePrez on May 9, 2009 at 3:30

If Gen. Petraeus ran for the republican nomination (is he even repulibcan?), I don’t think anyone could come close to him, not even Sarah Palin or Bobby Jindal.

deidre on May 9, 2009 at 3:55 PM

What`s Petraeus doing in 3 1/2 years?

ThePrez on May 9, 2009 at 3:30 PM

No.

Petraeus is not a politician and would not want to become one. He is, at heart, an academic, and has said his dream job after he retires from the military would be a college dean/chair of a department. I think he mentioned the school of international studies at Princeton or something, but I don’t recall exactly…

Muswell Hillbilly on May 9, 2009 at 3:57 PM

I saw this same video clip posted on another fairly popular left-leaning blog site. The lefty’s and lib’s on that site jumped on it and viciously lambasted and lampooned the video, and the people in it.

They attacked General Petraeus and referred to him by his MoveOn.org nickname from that NY Times full page ad they took out such a short time ago, General BetrayUs.

They made fun of that soldier, that hero, and his entire family. They quipped how the soldier was ‘a redneck from a redneck family’ and his family was so loathed by the soldier, that’s he wouldn’t wake up for them, but he’d wake up for the man and the organization that trained him to be a ‘murderer’… because he’s been brain washed.

And so much more.

I was deeply disappointed in what I read there. I was very saddened by it. Because there were, and are, SO MANY individuals at that site and throughout this country, and within our very Governemnt, who earnestly want our country and our way of life to fail and forever disappear. I can’t even fathom how so many could want something so terrible, not just for themselves, but also for their own families and for their entire country.

So I watch this video again, and it waters my eyes again, and I remain unashamedly avowed and resolved to my very core to support my country’s founding principals as well as in my wholehearted appreciation for those who yearn for the preservation and advancement of peace, freedom, and democracy so deeply that they’re willing to honorably do and endure terrible things to advance the means to the ends.

I just hope and pray that the means soon become unecessary and I pray that the end to conflict and terrible things in order to achieve peace and freedom around the globe would hurry up and end… without surrending to appeasement and dishonorable means and literally surrendering to those that make it all so irrefutably necessary.

As for the politics, the Left’s insatiable need to tear down the military will yet be theirs and Obama’s undoing. You simply cannot piss on the military non-stop and not eventually find a ten foot steel pole rammed up your ass. As it has so many other times, our support for the military will be the key to the GOPs revival. Just wait for the Obama Jump the Shark moment, it will come.

BTW, the liberal media can destroy anyone. They destroyed Rick Santorum because he was too squeaky clean. He didn’t have any scandal so they attacked him over an issue. One issue and Republicans abandoned him. They’ll do the same thing to Gen. Petraeus.

Heart warming and from CBS? What a great young man, as are all our men and women in the military. History repeats itself. I see General Patraeus as a VP in an election cycle down the road. Eisenhower did it and Patraeus fits the mold of a great man and a great leader.

“Where did we find such men? They are typical of this land as the Founding Fathers were typical. We found them in our streets, in the offices, the shops and the working places of our country and on the farms.

We cannot escape our destiny, nor should we try to do so. The leadership of the free world was thrust upon us two centuries ago in that little hall of Philadelphia. In the days following World War II, when the economic strength and power of America was all that stood between the world and the return to the dark ages, Pope Pius XII said, ‘The American people have a great genius for splendid and unselfish actions. Into the hands of America God has placed the destinies of an afflicted mankind.’

We are indeed, and we are today, the last best hope of man on earth.”

I also doubt the General has political aspirations, but if he did, he’d have my vote in a heartbeat. As for the MSM attempting to destroy him, I think he’s the one person they can’t. In fact, I think it would backfire tremendously. He has too many skins on the wall. He did the impossible in turning around Iraq. He immediately jumps light years in front of anyone in terms of foreign policy and national security. He’s a West Point grad and smarter than any of the current crop, including the Messiah. In a debate, Obama would look immensely weak in comparison.

I know the MSM has absolutely poisoned the political atmosphere, but that mainly allows them to sway votes when the electorate is given two poor choices (e.g. Obama and McCain). If a clear leader like Petraeus emerges, there’s little they can do, try as they might.
