He owes our intelligence community his loyalty as their record is absolutely clear, Bush having gone to extraordinary measures to keep all accounts on the books. Obama must not play Brutus with our national security.

Clearly, Gingrich was not holding back many punches, despite having met with the president this past week to discuss education policy. His quips were aimed at Democrats in Congress as well, as he derided leadership in that party for not moving to stop the enhanced interrogation policies they currently criticize.

“They have had control since January 2007,” he said. “They haven’t passed a law making waterboarding illegal. They haven’t gone into any of these things and changed law.”

In February 2008, the Senate voted on the Intelligence Authorization Bill, which would have outlawed the use of waterboarding. President Bush vetoed the measure.

Then a few months later, her aide is briefed (why the aide? Did she not think the briefings were important enough for her to show up?) about actual waterboarding being used.

At some point, she must have been told Zubaydah was waterboarded 83 times in August ’02.

Why did she not raise all kinds of he!! at some point about not being briefed that waterboarding was actually being used in August, particularly if she were briefed on this specifically just a month later in September?

I cannot imagine anyone receiving classified briefings about a planned subject finding out later the subject was not just planning but reality, and not getting PO’d about it not being briefed.

Maybe she was busy throwing her weight around at the Pentagon over her military flights back to San Fransicko.

In the end, I still think this is fall out from her catfight with Jane Harman.
