Video: Are you ready for Senator Stormy?
posted at 7:55 pm on May 8, 2009 by Allahpundit
I started out a skeptic and now … I’m not sure. She’s articulate, an “entrepreneur,” cares about the children, is eager to listen to voters’ concerns — and opposes the federal income tax. Dude:
Daniels, 30, insists she’s serious. She’s spending her own money on a “listening tour” to hear what people have to say as she considers a possible run, and said she isn’t just starting a publicity stunt to promote her work or embarrass Vitter. However, she said she hasn’t lived in Louisiana for seven years — she currently resides in Florida — and would need to re-establish residency to run…
Daniels backs some issues common to many candidates, including bringing troops home sooner from Iraq and replacing the federal income tax with a national sales tax. Others are closer to her professional background, including pushing to remove child pornography from the Internet and keeping minors from viewing adult material…
“You look familiar. Not your face, though,” said Jody Mathern, 51, a New Orleans man who said he works in the oil industry, drawing laughs from Daniels and a table full of oil patch workers.
Men have always been more likely to vote Republican than women; all she needs to do is peel away her fan base from Vitter and she’s got a fighting chance! Louisiana likes freak-show candidates, too. And who better to draw a libertarian protest vote than a porn star? She’ll start with 10 percent of the vote, easy. Obligatory hacky slogan proposal: “Stormy in 2010: If Washington’s going to screw us, they ought to at least know how.”

“You look familiar. Not your face, though,”
If only this was an x-rated site, I would respond honestly.

Shameful….just shameful
I’m not being the caboose on that train, thank you very much…

Perhaps the state of Louisiana would nervous of “storms’?

She’ll fit right in.
She has experience doing what congress has been doing to us for as long as I can remember.

Better than Franken.
At least she’s an honest whore.

Republicans always get the porn star candidates.
..
..Awesome.
Guess the extra bonus is that it’s hard for people to dig up dirt on them.
Stormy/Carey 2012?
Reaps on May 8, 2009 at 8:07 PM
And who said Louisiana was so flat.
firepilot on May 8, 2009 at 8:09 PM
Surprisingly well spoken and no worries about past indiscretions being exposed. Funny how much more you can get away with when it’s already out there and not dug up by some newspaper.
Daemonocracy on May 8, 2009 at 8:09 PM
Also funny how Dems, even with low standards to begin with, somehow manage to consistently fail to meet them..
Reaps on May 8, 2009 at 8:11 PM
This is a publicity stunt.
On the other hand, I’m sure she’d do better than the Dhimmicrats there now.
Mojave Mark on May 8, 2009 at 8:13 PM
Minnesota already elects cartoon characters to public office. One state doing that is enough.
Mallard T. Drake on May 8, 2009 at 8:14 PM
Seriously. What possible scandal can they dig up on her? Fakeorgasm-Gate?
Tacitus_SGL on May 8, 2009 at 8:15 PM
Pfft. I’ll take a decent looking porn actress over a morally degraded porn writer in the Senate any day.
Although really Allah, is this even newsworthy?
“Whore runs for Senate.”
As if this is the first time.

I’m all for this… Any candidate with prior real world working experience is better then career politicians. Laugh all you want but she’s had success in her field. Think of her as a really really good looking Jack Kemp. ;)
liquidflorian on May 8, 2009 at 8:15 PM
The good news is that there’s very little expectation that goes along with her.

Yeah,,, just wait until the MSM gets through with her,, they’ll expose her as a hypocrite or something,, won’t be long before an old college photo of her going into church or something will be hitting the internet. Then they’ll hunt down some old boyfriend who will swear on a morning show she said “No” on the first date! They’ll tear her to pieces!
JellyToast on May 8, 2009 at 8:24 PM
Barney Frank: Ms. Daniels, we understand that you are currently in a monogamous relationship. We will not tolerate this sort of behavior from our porn stars!

Smarter, more honest, and more ethical than Kennedy, Reid and Durbin combined. This is so crazy it just might work.

Seriously. No populist love for Stormy here?
Allahpundit on May 8, 2009 at 8:35 PM

Hmmmm…this story sounds eerily familiar somehow …
The last time a female candidate did a “listening tour”, that candidate also had a history of slutty behavior, including a famous blue dress with DNA, etc. Oh, wait … that was her HUSBAND. She is still in office, so I guess ANYTHING is possible.

There’s something that I really like about her…I can’t quite put my finger on it….but, I’d like too!

I would sooner vote for an admitted porn star who stands on principles than a “traditional” candidate who is only in it for the fame and fortune.
I mean, really….. Stormy Daniels or Arlen Specter?
UltimateBob on May 9, 2009 at 2:51 AM
It’s a hell of a lot more moral to exchange money for a service, than it is to rape the taxpayers and tell them it’s for their own good. Which is what our current ‘leaders’ from both parties are doing.
At least she had an honest job.
UltimateBob on May 9, 2009 at 2:56 AM
morbidly curious, reads through entire post, even listens to part of interview.
c’mon folks, this is a novelty thing. hate vitter all u want, but if the 100s of thousands of bayou staters who make up that branch of the gop can’t field a candidate other than her to challenge him, well, any & all of the PLETHORA of scorn that will be heaped upon them will be deserved …

3- If she lye’s down on the job, then it will be to serve.
4- we are being f’ed by the Dems that we expect it. (she is so much better them them)
Seriously we are in trouble and we have to kick out the so call republicans that are reaching across to the dems. We need to stop the socialist that are in control of our country and elect only conservatives that fall in line with what Conservatism stands for.
The damage is here and it will be very difficult to undue what has taken place and what will, if the king has his way .

The CNN lady treats her like a serious candidate. That says all that needs to be said about CNN.

RMR on May 9, 2009 at 8:50 AM
This is gross. I can’t wait to talk to all you gentlemen on some social conservative threads!
Get wisdom, guys. Pursue what is right and good. Find a good woman and marry her. If you are married, stop looking at this smut and pretending that you’re being faithful to her. Drink from your own well.
This woman, however legally she does this by her own volition, is someone’s daughter. She is someone’s baby. Condoning her behavior, laughing at it, supporting it in secret or public with your dollars and mind is supporting the further decline of our society and the value of women. Do you have daughters?
I do.
Mommypundit on May 9, 2009 at 8:56 AM
And she made her decision to do what she did because when she was a consenting adult, my kids will likely do stupid things at some point when they become adults, they will do things I agree with and things I do not. That is life, so please, spare us the “shes someones daughter” lecture.

FAIRTAX.
RightXBrigade on May 9, 2009 at 9:31 AM
I said that.
But you men have a responsibility to be self controlled. I don’t really expect that from liberals, actually, or non christians. What I do want is consistency within social conservatives. Thus, my opening line.
I hate duplicity and contradiction within myself and really want to work against it. But, when I see men supporting this, laughing at it, then talking about family values on another thread, I call foul. My prerogative.
Mommypundit on May 9, 2009 at 9:55 AM
This is fun.
It’s whimsical.
It’s a good test of what we mean by big tent political party. (Feel free to snark about where the big tent is).
Could she do a better job than those in DC? Sure, she could.
Should certain legal professions disqualify one from running for public office? Probably not.
Whatever. Let’s move on now, she shouldn’t be the Republican candidate for Senate.
Leaving our personal morals at the station, let’s let this train of thought leave the station and see what happens a little down the tracks. Social cons in LA would be outraged and at the very least stay home on election day. Win for Dems. Social cons at the national level would pressure the RNC not to give monetary funds to this race, or face diminished contributions. Win for Dems. We’d be faced with Democrats on TV taking the moral high road (and the press would let them without questioning their hypocrisy), pointing out to America that this woman is the new face of the GOP, see how far they have fallen.
Media outlets that have been “neutral” would turn rabid the second she became the candidate. Huge win for Dems.
So, let’s have some fun here, then put her in the rearview and move on.
OneEyedJack on May 9, 2009 at 10:07 AM
I don’t want a candidate to “listen” (aka hold their finger in the air to see what way the wind is blowing). I want someone who articulates solid principles, which are not subject to change (with the understanding that the legislative process usually requires compromises) just because of shifts in popularity.
The Monster on May 9, 2009 at 10:17 AM
Absolutely, if she has to listen to decide what her platform is she has no business running. We need leaders who have a platform of beliefs already in place.
