I think the whole issue with being had is very telling. The American people are willing to give Obama a chance. They expect the state to step into the fray in times of emergency or peril to keep them safe and their world intact.
That is why most people did not initially have a big problem with Congress coming up with some kind of stimulus plan or even keeping the banking system functioning.
However, Americans really do not like or trust their political class and so the time invariably comes when they begin to think that someone is taking advantage of them or the situation or both.
I think that Obama might find himself facing that sooner than most presidents.

I just followed a Drudge link to an article castigating Obama for cutting funding he voted for as a Senator–federal funding sent to States to help defray the cost of imprisoned illegal aliens. The program never provided more than 20% costs, but now that’s too rich for his budget.

A symbol of independence/federalism/states rights has been the “Don’t Tread on Me”, Gadsden flag. This symbol, the coiled rattlesnake, has received some attention lately as a symbol for local law enforcement to be on the lookout for as a possible “subversive” symbol. If thousands of people had this slogan/bumpersticker on their vehicles, it would send a clear message about limited government, low taxation/fiscal conservatism. I do not know if would promote a social conservative message, however. (just throwing out an idea that wouldn’t involve re-inventing the wheel).

The article said he voted for Hillary’s bill, but it didn’t pass. So they’re for it so long as a GOP POTUS assumes payment in full, before they’re against it when it’s their own left unpaid.
No wonder Obama said he’d be called a cheap skate when he insisted on paying for his entire entourage’s burger order, adding a single $5. tip to the jar. HE IS A CHEAP SKATE. You saw him counting his money, as if he actually budgets ANYTHING. He just can’t let go of funds to do the Government’s business (national defense, infrastructure maintenance); hijacking tax dollars pirated to his own personal causes.
Given Obama’s abusive threats to CA, it is obvious that he will do all in his power to bankrupt each state and the entire nation in order to coerce us into his Federal Socialist Empire. The nerve of the federal government to legislate mandates requiring states to do anything without providing funds; wrong on both counts. Even had the feds provided funding, it is still wrong to mandate state obligations that are not Constitutional, and that are unconstitutional. To rescind and refuse funding is to repudiate the mandate. States are declaring sovereignty for the very reason that survival requires it.

Limerick, please, thank your son, on my behalf, and my families. I like to thank every one that serves, whether it’s here, in person, or in letters. Their hard work, and sacrifice, is never taken for granted with me, and mine. :)
Secondly, I admire your sons letter. Even though he, and everyone that serves, and conservatives, have been pegged as potential threats to this country by the DHS…I admire his bravery, politeness, and restraint in his letter. Kudos to him.

Hey, everyone! I had an idea last night (not being able to sleep per our lengthy discussion on these matters). This would have to be an Allah or Ed thing, but could we bring back that Understanding of the Koran thing (don’t remember what it was called), only this time do an Understanding the following in order:
1) Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. We could start with one a day and open it for places we see each happening. I think this would go a LONG way to battling the trolls as their tactics, once understood, are so pathetically veiled. (Witness Beck’s “guest” the other day after reading just a few of the “rules.)
2) Cloward-Piven Strategy Absolutely foundational to understanding what’s going on here and WHY.
3) The Progressive movement as a whole–starting in the 1913′s… check Beck’s stuff for more.
4) Delphi Techniques of organizers and facilitators
All of this dovetails into “we need to educate ourselves” not so we can fight back with THEIR tactics but so we can understand them and not be on the defensive all the time.
We can fight back with knowledge.

I realize that I am an unusual case in point, hence the “maverick” identity. Nonetheless, Pope John Paul II addressed that issue all the time, to recognize and treasure the inner self in each man and in humankind, just as the faith of many was sparked anew and Americans reaffirmed their identity as “religious” rather than uncommitted. Just as his life’s service brought many people to THINK again, and for the thought to create the sensation of faith, I hope the very best for Pope Benedict XVI efforts to carry on the message of Peace. May he gain alliance from the thoughtful in the Middle East from all faiths. And may the tormented Christians around the world sense the gift of God’s love FROM US as well as from our Creator.

On the ACORN tactics, this is from a Hillary site, but it ties in with the connections I was making bleary-eyed at 3 in the morning:
“During the primaries, Hillary Clinton lost the state of Missouri by the smallest of margins because of ACORN mobilization for Dr. Utopia in the St. Louis area. Clinton won everywhere else, but ACORN delivered the cities for Dr. Utopia. People on the ground in Missouri tell us McCaskill is unpopular in the majority of the state, but that she won the cities in 2006 and that made her a Senator. ACORN worked for McCaskill in the cities. There is a pattern here.”
If you look up the Reid/Ensign battle in 1998, you will find the same thing: The whole state of counties is red (Ensign), two (the two most populous) went for Reid, who won the contest by 428 votes out of 900,000 cast. Interesting question… how many times is this happening? What other “elected” official got elected by the slimmest of vote counts where their greatest “support” was in the cities and at the courtesy of ACORN?

Two Florida cities where ACORN is active made the top 10 list of metro areas with the highest foreclosure rates- Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. If their strategy is to put so much pressure on the system to get it to collapse (stated in Cloward-Piven), what do you do when it DOES collapse? Blame those you strong-armed, of course! This is now making WAY too much sense. Couple this with what they are doing to VOTING in the cities, and wow does it make sense!

maverick muse, I get that (don’t expect fairplay), but the TRUTH is they only have one playbook. Once you know it, their tactics don’t work nearly so well because you see right through what they are trying to do. Case in point. Carrie Prejean. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Rule 11: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don’t try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.

I don’t usually watch Glenn Beck, but have this week. He’s been doing segments on the corruption of ACORN. He had 2 women on yesterday. One a former legal eagle for the group, and another who is an exec in the D.C. offices, of ACORN. She has no real power, but her staff is fighting to keep her.
Why are they a former, and have no real power? Because they dared to request that the books be investigated, and audited for ACORN. ACORN apparently disagrees with opening their books. I have no reason at this point, to doubt these women. They both said they joined on, because they wanted to do good for the world, but they see the corruption, and the wrongs this group is doing, and even said they didn’t need tax payer money to survive. It’s all about the money, for ACORN.
I think he’ll have more on this, next week. I sure am looking forward to seeing where this goes….even though I won’t hold my breath, for any formal investigation to happen. As Glenn said…it’s more important to investigate an athlete doing steroids. *rolls eyes*
