The French have an odd notion of boycotts. My good friend Scott Johnson at Power Line discovers this video of a “boycott” action in France organized, apparently, by Europalestine.com, or at least publicized by them. Take a look at the uniformed thuggery that takes place in a French grocery store:
If anything, the translation makes the entire event look even more stupid. They screech about Carrefour carrying products that they say originates from stolen lands … and then they steal the products. They even steal flowers that have no origin labeling because they might be Israeli. I guess flowers don’t grow in Flanders Field any longer.

Yeah, you go ahead, unfortunate for you the fascist Islamic hordes won’t be impressed that you are a Dungeons and Dragons master, but instead will only laugh at you before they cut your infidel head off in the name of Allah!
And Franco actively aided in helping French Jews cross the Pyranees into Spain to escape the Vichy regime.
Remember that the next time some mindless leftist drones on about how “evil” Franco was. They are still pissed at him at this and for exposing that the Spanish “Republic” was just a front for Stalin.

I think that was an Elmore Fudd reference, not a D&D reference.
OK, since we are swinging into Francophobia and Franco-philia, I’m going to have to come in and set the record straight.
Firstly, those who think the French are wimps have never been to Verdun or the Colmar Pocket. Granted, the French public has been in a considerable decline, but the blood of Charlamagne, Clemenceau, and De Gaulle still is present, and we will need it all to soon.
Also, the reason they didn’t install a Gauleiter had nothing to do with efficiency concerns. A Gualeiter was a civilian post in charge of the military, and was primarily dedicated to administration and ethnic cleansing. In Prague and Warsaw, this was all well and good.
However, France was a different case, because the Western Allied counter-invasion hung over German planning for the four years until it actually happened, and Northern France in particular (which was the old, Pre-occupation of Vichy boundry) was particularly troublesome, given the number of partisans running around.
As such, Germany (correctly, in my opinion) viewed the installation of a Gauleiter as being inappropriate for a region where the military had to have pre-eminence. Which was the reason the Guerilla War and Genocide in France was far more irregular and ad-hoc than elsewhere. Indeed, as the frontlines came closer, the Gauleiters were generally relieved of their powers in favor of military commanders, even following the July plot.
Yes, the Anti-Semitism that had plagued Dreyfuss did condemn many of his co-religionists to death at the hands of their own “countrymen,” but many were also saved due to the staunch (and sadly denigated) French resistance.
It is no coincidence that the same two sides are now reappearing throughout Europe once more.
Also, PimFortuynsGhost:

Not really. He openly let his men kill as many refugees as they pleased, and those he did allow through were usually locked up in rather unpleasant Internment Camps that were FAR nastier on average than the Japanese camps here and in Canada, or the Boer ones during the 1899-1901 War.
Remember that the next time some mindless leftist drones on about how “evil” Franco was.
Oh, I will. I will also remember the many dissidents and GENUINE Right-Wing Republicans Franco put to the sword during his coup.
They are still pissed at him at this and for exposing that the Spanish “Republic” was just a front for Stalin.
Some of them are, and they deserve to be called out for it.
But that does not change the fact that Franco was ultimately a tyrant who destroyed any hope of Spanish Democracy, caused the marginalization of the moderates within the Republic (thus FORCING the “Republic” into Stalin’s hands) and generally comitting actions that would have hung him at Nuremburg.
Sometimes, the people our opponents denigate… actually deserve it.
So sad to watch mindless drones do the dirty work for tyrants. Those useful idiots are going to be sooooo disappointed when they see what their radical Islamic overlords have in store for them a few years down the road. Let’s agree now: Not one drop of American blood will ever be shed again to free these fools from a tyranny of their own creation. Not one drop.
There is an easy cure for this kind of behavior. Arrest each one that steps out of the store without paying. Then apply the Islamic standard of justice by cutting off a hand.
One of the many things that I am proud of here in America is that blatant criminal conduct like this is answered by our police. Probably eight times out of ten our police would at least see that the merchandise was returned to the store even if the perps weren’t necessarily arrested.
Recently, I’ve seen a number of clips of the London police being routed, actual retreat from crowds made up of adherents to the religion of peace. I was embarrassed for the bobbies.
Most French people are not fools or cowards or moonbats. Their elites are all three, but that’s a only the majority of the top five percent or so–not unlike the U.S. of A…….
The Usual Half-Truths about WWII are being recycled again. A minority or undetermined size cooperated with the German occupiers, but thousands more fought and died in the Resistance. And keep in mind, this was OVER SIXTY YEARS AGO
Especially in the north of France, there is a great deal of real affection and appreciation of what American soldiers did in the Summer of 1944. There are several cemetaries of Allied soliders ( mostly American ) and they are lovingly cared for–and always spotless.
All I saw (video) was a bunch of well-fed stupid people acting irrationally and destroying someone else’s property, including good food that would otherwise be eaten for nourishment.
There’s a lot to be said for people who destroy food, use food like a political football, and the problem France seems to have is that too many people there are fed well and have, unfortunately, too little regard for the “worth” of food and how much energy and work it takes to produce it. This can also be said of the U.S., where so many extremely well-fed people complain about how much they dislike the place, but ask for even more.
I don’t like to blame “the French” (as in, all of them) for acts like this one caught on film, which looks entirely stupid (where was law enforcement, anyway), but, the nation overall continues to appear spoiled due to living too well and unfortunately, for a nation that seeks to uphold their onw language and culture so fastidiously (also their cuisine), they sure have allowed a Muslim infiltration that doesn’t appear to care one whit for anything French any more than they do anything at all.
Extreme damages of socialism; England has the same problem.
I saw this asked earlier, ‘Why are the t-shirts written in english?’
Blacksmith8 on May 7, 2009 at 7:06 PM
Ha, I thought the same thing.
Maybe it’s affiliated with the same people in CA (”amercianapparel.net” [or .org, maybe]) that’s funding and organizing so many of the pro-illegal-aliens’ protests in the U.S. They make t-shirts…
This group — no linkage from me but here’s the name of their site, “americanapparel dot net” — who are agitators for illegal immigration, or, more specifically, for eradicating our U.S. border and removal of legal restrictions on people mostly from anywhere else to use the U.S. to…make more t-shirts, etc.
I’m betting it’s associated with those idiots in the video.
The fact that the shirts are in English, and the wearers are French cretins, is a great opportunity. I’d like to start a sub-thread in which we try to come up with the best text for the shirts that would make them look maximally stupid without them being aware of it. It would have to be something kind of subtle, I mean Zionist soccer team: kick an Israeli today! probably wouldn’t make it under the radar. Maybe something like Boycott Israeli soap and you can stink like us! Eh, the muse is not with me. Anyone else?
Question: Why is there no “Made in Palestine” labels?
Answer: Because they don’t bleeping make anything, they buy weapons and try to blow stuff up. If they actually tried to make things to feed their people or help their people, then they might not be in this mess
