Bristol Palin: Abstinence is the answer
posted at 6:05 pm on May 6, 2009 by Allahpundit
An about-face from her comments to Greta in February declaring that abstinence, while preferable, simply isn’t “realistic.” Surprisingly, neither Lauer nor Chris Cuomo at ABC pressed her on the change of heart; doubtless the left will accuse her of doing mom’s bidding but she seems plenty sincere in describing how little sleep she’s getting these days taking care of the little guy. Could be that the full strain of motherhood has since sharpened her appreciation of teen celibacy.
The ABC interview is slightly more newsworthy — she tells Cuomo she never for an instant considered abortion — but this one’s more engaging and features three generations of Palins. In both clips she couldn’t be sweeter, and she does as good a job as one might with the thorny question of whether, notwithstanding her love for Tripp, she’d do things differently if she had it to do over again. If you’re wondering why there’s no CBS clip, it’s because she skipped them this morning — possibly, I wonder, because it’s the network of Palin bete noire Katie Couric. Here’s how they paid her back.

I liked how Bristol & Todd handled Matt’s questions. Levi will be involved, but we’re not talking about him. He tried more than once to lead them down the primrose path, but they just weren’t going there.
Class acts.
Oh, and the intro set up Palin’s “strong” advocacy for “abstinence-only” education. Um… not from what I’ve read.

God bless that sweet girl. Yes, she should have waited but I believe that she will do well as a mother. I’m grateful that she did not consider an abortion, now this child has an opportunity to do great things.
We need more mothers like Sarah Palin.

It is not just the way the media covers politics that frustrates, it’s everything. They can’t be trusted to cover anything, not even a flu.

Yep. Also if you want to increase your black street cred while going into politics in a black district.

Breaking News!! Past Presidents families not perfect little angels. Candidates with families that had actual problems win elections. News at 11.
Ron Reagan
Donald Nixon: Richard Nixon’s ultimately doomed campaign for the presidency in 1960 was damaged by the disclosure that his brother, Donald, had been lent $205,000 by Howard Hughes to prop up his “Nixonburger” restaurant chain.
Sam Houston: Lyndon Johnson’s younger brother, Sam Houston, who openly described himself as a “problem-drinker”, is said to have delighted in passing juicy titbits to the press.
Billy Carter: Billy Carter, an enthusiastic beer drinker, appeared to take delight in embarrassing his brother, President Jimmy Carter, with his behaviour. He was seen urinating in public and is said to have smoked cannabis on the White House roof.
Roger Clinton: Bill Clinton had possibly the most scandal-wracked presidential sibling. Roger, his half-brother, served a year in prison for cocaine trafficking. As governor of Arkansas, Clinton travelled in his official car to orgies with Roger involving drugs and teenage girls.
Neil Bush: Neil Bush, the third of four Bush brothers – George W is the eldest – has the dubious claim to fame of having inconvenienced two presidents, his father, President George Bush senior, and his brother.
He was a director of Silverado Savings and Loan, which collapsed in 1988 costing the taxpayer $1 billion. This led to a grand jury investigation at the end of his father’s presidency.
He was accused of conflicts of interest for failing to disclose personal ties to two borrowers who defaulted on loans, but he was never charged.

Every president has had to deal with unexpected events
that change the course of govt. Also, Obama burned bridges
with CIA and foreign intelligence when he gutted the CIA.
Expect damaging leaks sooner or later.

I respectfully disagree. To me, the issue is Europe’s moronic immigration policies. The model for rational immigration policies is given in the book of Ruth of the Bible: you love as your own the immigrants who assimilate. You don’t accept those who don’t assimilate, as Ezra didn’t upon the return from Babylon.

Note to Palin Gushers, this is why she isn’t getting the nomination.
Speedwagon82 on May 6, 2009 at 6:39 PM
No at the end of the day this and many other factors will be exactly why Sarah Palin will win the nomination.
heshtesh on May 6, 2009 at 7:47 PM
The reason Sarah is having a hard time is because liberals hate God and Jesus. They hate her because she is a Christian. Liberals want their sin to be recognized and applauded.
This nation needs to start praying for Obama and this nation… and stop letting their anger get the best of them like liberals do.

Oh yeah! ALRIGHT!!!!
This gaggle of goons is the gift that keeps on giving.
I have no doubt that Bristol will be every bit as effective in teaching abstinence as Sarah was in teaching Bristol abstinence.
Sarah had to get married…Bristol had to get married…so on and so on….
The apple doesnt fall far from the wheel, does it?
Can these buttbrains even think straight?
“Hey everybody, I am Bristol Palin, and my baby, Trigggg, is the most wonderful blessing that God has given to me. Trigggggg is indeed a blessing from God and I am soooooo thankful for this blessing that I am holding in my armes *sniff*. I am soooooo thankful for this blessing from God named Trigggggggg.
Now, I am here to tell you to choose abstinence only. Do not do the wild thing. It is so wrong and you will be so sorry.
Oh look at my blessing from God named Triggggg…I am so happy and thankful for Triggg…Now remember..be abstinent..it is right to close your legs tight..oh look at my blessing Trigg….I dont know what I would do without Trigg I am SO THANKFUL FOR THIS BLESSING…uh, be abstinent, its better or something.”
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!
The only reason NBC is showing this creep show is to help the liberal cause. They know that the Palin Comedy Show guarantees liberal success.
Every fool knows that people learn moral lessons from role models. Role models are people you respect, not people who failed and now want to tell you to do what they say not as they did…nobody respect that.

That’s what REALLY burns my biscuits…if any family should have ways to persuade a redneck bum who impregnated their daughter and is shirking his responsibility, it should be Bristol’s.
Oh well. I guess at least it’s an object lesson to young women – get knocked up and if daddy won’t be responsible, nobody can make him. Not even if your mother is a governor!

Trolls, admit it. Your bone with Bristol Palin is that if she had decided to abort her baby your problem with Sarah Palin would have been instantly solved and the Messiah would have no opposition to impose his permenent reign on America (once Obama browbeats 38 state legislatures to repeal the 22nd Amendment).
That the Palin family proved not to be hypocrites may be the Obama’s undoing and the salvation of America.

Yep, they’re hypocrites. Do as I say on TV, not what I do in my house, or in the back seat of Levi’s car.
The whole thing is just like everything else associated with that Palin Goon Squad…nutty, self-righteous, and stupid.
The right thing to do, the traditional thing to do, the moral thing to do, the conservative thing to do, the best-thing-for-the-baby thing to do would have been to put the baby up for adoption. Read Ann Coulter’s most recent book for a terrific review of fatherless children, single mother babies, etc.
But, no…she wanted a pet. Hell she even gave the poor kid a pet name…Trigg or Trippp or Rover or Spot or some damn thing…I cant keep these lower echelon types straight any more.
And that goofy ass dad sitting next to her with his cheesy forced smile. You know DAMN well that he is thinking “I dont know why Sarah is making me do this..but I gotta do what she says or the free ride, the gravy train is gonna get mad.”
Dont these people have any shame? Why are they on NBC?? It doesnt help…I mean, except for comedic purposes, and to help the liberals make the case that republicans are inbreds.
We need GOOD people showing our children how to live. We need SUCCESSFUL AND INTELLIGENT people showing our young people how to live…..not losers who arent as intelligent as the average junior high school kid in my area.
Damn, this comedy horror show just doesnt stop. You would think these clowns would know better. “oh, I am not here to talk about my personal life, I am here to show the world my blessing baby and to tell teenagers to stay abstinent or else they will get a blessing like I have in my arms”.
Every week, I hate these people a bit more…and feel a bit more estranged from the grASS-roots of my own party.

What about Augustine? He’s not in the “lower echelon” of any Western academic theory, and uttered the famous prayer “grant me continence and chastity, but not yet” after fathering a child out of wedlock and before becoming an influential Bishop. You’ve probably heard of his works in your illustrious educational career.
Or didn’t he have the right to address moral issues, after his hedonistic decade?

The hell we do. We need good mothers who lived reasonably moral lives and who teach children abstinence and know what their children are up to they arent banging in their own house.
If Bristol was taught properly she wouldve given the baby up for adoption so the baby could be raised in a normal two parent household…not carted around by this hypocritical freak show.
The Wall on May 6, 2009 at 9:35 PM
Sometimes adoption is a good solution. I can’t imagine why you would think that in this situation. The baby has a huge family, two parents, and I can’t picture how that is a bad thing.
AnninCA on May 6, 2009 at 9:38 PM
Obama is honest about his Fascist tendencies: for example his threats levelled against the bondholders of Chrysler. It is the MSM which has been continually dishonest in keeping many Americans in the dark to the nefarious radical agenda of Obama and from understanding the blatant reality of the ends justify the means.
technopeasant on May 6, 2009 at 9:40 PM
I’ve looked at this thread with some idea as to who is a parent and who isn’t. I raised my kids to the best of my abilities, hopefully gave them a good moral compass and idea of right v. wrong. I cna’t be with them 24/7 and know what they are always up to when they are out on dates. Bristol and Levi gave in to feelings and hormones as many young people do and unfortately without protection are now paying a price for thier actions.
We, all od us, left and right, unfortunately have decided to make sport of these two and thier child. We need to leave them alone to deal with thier deceisions and get on with thier lives.
Everyone’s kids make mistakes and yes they even change thier minds as they get older and wiser. It’s called growing up.
For those of you who are enjoying throwing stones at these kids and to those in the media who are making sport of them, you all need to get on with your lives and quit acting like paragons of virtue.

Yeah, I know not many people care about what I have to say but it seems to me that it’s not even really an “about-face” on Bristol’s part since before she basically said, “everyone should be abstinent until marriage, but that’s not realistic,” meaning that not everyone will be abstinent. That never meant she didn’t think everyone should be abstinent until marriage or whatever like she said today, and i just don’t really see the contradiction.
OK – back to your childish arguments.

In the non-surprise of the century, a teenage boy who knocked up a girl – but isn’t paying child support or doing 3 am feedings – advocates for having lots of sex.
In the second non-surprise of the century, a teenager messed up.
In a nice surprise, that teenager was responsible. She did not “make the problem go away,” nor foist it on the system; she is living a very unglamourous life, raising a child, and giving that child a big, loving family while pursuing her education.
In another non-surprise, idiots (here, liberals) think that anyone who ever made a mistake is hypocritical for saying that it was a mistake. There is a saying that the fool does not learn from his mistakes, the smart man does so learn, and the wisest learns from the mistakes of others. Bristol is giving young people a chance to learn from her – if not as an example, then as a warning.
In another non-surprise, cruel people fail to see how that takes more maturity and courage than denying that any mistakes happened in the first place. That they fail to see that their attitudes show far more about themselves – and their lack of character – than it does about the object of their derision is yet another non-surprise.

Ed, Allah…
Take a moment to review this thread. ‘The Wall’ has gone way beyond the realm of tasteful, intelligent conversation. This guy needs a spank, preferably off this site. I’m still sort of new here, but even a novice like me can see the need to boot his ass off this site.
Repectfully,

Heh. Abstinence suddenly becomes very realistic when you have a newborn in the house.

Don’t think it’ll happen. It’s part of why I respond to him to clearly show his idiocy.
Wall’s been spamming Palin threads for months, I think he got a warning for “trailer park” or “white trash” or something, but keeps showing up with his haughty attitude and tries to find the line, then just put one toe over it.
Kind of like referring to “park” earlier, then saying he meant “ball park.”
Sure you did, genius.

Speaking of getting pawned…
Haven’t seen you’re retraction of “everybody knew I was just kidding on the GreenRoom thread.”
Or a response as to why St. Augustine had a positive influence despite his youthful indiscretions.
Or why it’s no big deal that Nancy Reagan wasn’t married at the point of conception, but it’s disqualifying for Palin.
I’m also not sure how you’re rant “proves” whether portlandon is being honest about his Mormon background and missionary service.
It’s also kind of curious how you’re so smart, and everybody else is dumb, but you keep making basic factual, spelling/grammatical, and logical errors in each thread you infest.
Oh, and as a final point- Kind of hypocritical to suggest that you’d “love” to leave the Palin’s alone, if they’d just retreat from the public eye, yet when you get your errors smacked down you start whining about being “stalked.”
