Lauria allegations of threats corroborated

Business Insider reports that more than one Chrysler senior creditor has corroborated Thomas Lauria’s allegation that the Obama administration threatened them with public attacks if they didn’t surrender their contractual rights. One of their sources says that the Obama team comprises some of the worst “ends justify the means” people he’s ever encountered (via HA reader Geoff A):
Creditors to Chrysler describe negotiations with the company and the Obama administration as “a farce,” saying the administration was bent on forcing their hands using hardball tactics and threats.
Conversations with administration officials left them expecting that they would be politically targeted, two participants in the negotiations said. …
The sources, who represent creditors to Chrysler, say were taken aback by the hardball tactics that the Obama administration employed to cajole them into acquiescing to plans to restructure Chrysler. One person said described the administration as the most shocking “end justifies the means” group they have ever encountered. Another characterized Obama was “the most dangerous smooth talker on the planet- and I knew Kissinger.” Both were voters for Obama in the last election.
One participant in negotiations said that the administration’s tactic was to present what one described as a “madman theory of the presidency” in which the President is someone to be feared because he was willing to do anything to get his way. The person said this threat was taken very seriously by his firm.
Well, that’s certainly reassuring. The man at the helm during one of the biggest economic crises in decades is a madman who will act in an unpredictable and irrational manner if he doesn’t get his way. It sounds like they paint Obama as either a lunatic or a petulant child.
As Glenn Reynolds says, the country is in the very best of hands.
The story now has more than one source, and mounting testimony — albeit understandably anonymous testimony, at least at this point — that the White House tried threatening senior creditors instead of doing their job in enforcing the law. Not only do they not realize that their responsibilities do not include building business plans for private enterprises, but also don’t include assuming the role of Michael Corleone and acting like organized-crime thugs. Actually, the way the White House made Obama sound, maybe Sonny Corleone is a better analogy … or perhaps Fredo.

Some of the current worship of powerful executives may come from those who admire strength and accomplishment of any sort. Others hail the display of Presidential strength simply because they approve of the result reached by the use of power. This is nothing less than the totalitarian philosophy that the end justifies the means If ever there was a philosophy of government totally at war with that of the Founding Fathers, it is this one.
- Barry Goldwater
Republicans should start calling for Obama’s impeachment for abuse of power. What Obama has done is far worse than what either Nixon or Clinton did. Would they get very far? Not likely, but it would be the right thing to do and, if there is anything left of the founding fathers floating around someplace, it would make them happy.

Some say Obama is a pragmatist. Not at all. Rather than respecting the nature of reality in-itself, the way of life, if you will, he wants to impose a liberal vision onto the country, as much as he possibly can, by as extreme a means as possible. He doesn’t respect differing views or ways. He’s dangerous.

I wonder how bad the problem would be if states got rid of all the non-essential stuff they fund.
My friend’s parents had a reduction in their income which they responded to by getting rid of cable t.v., cooking a lot more at home and being more efficient with the food they buy (fewer scraps, more left overs) and going without luxury items.
They are still able to save just as much as they were before because they cut the ‘fat’ out of their budgets.
If state governments went through and cut all the funding to programs that they really have no reason to fund in the first place, they could mostly likely make do with their current tax receipts. Heck! Many of them could probably lower taxes even in the current economic climate because they’d need a fraction of the money they currently need.

Obama is too weak to pull this kind of shakedown. It was some combination of Axelrod, Rattner and Emanuel. I bet one of them was playing good cop, probably Rahm since he is already on fed tapes in the Blago scandal. This is how business gets done in Chicago. If you want to start a business, get a permit, or fix a ticket you have to play ball. I’m just suprised the administration was after a better deal for the UAW and not more money for the DNC. I’m guessing a haircut for Chrysler’s creditors would put billions into the pockets of the unions, which would grease some compromise on card check.

Any pre bankruptcy get together, where folks are expected to take haircuts on their positions, always turn into longshoremen with ice picks–that’s a given. What is never a given is to be threatened with the IRS/SEC by a US government representative.
As I said yesterday that is akin to calling Tony Soprano.
Sadly with the MSM dry humping Obama all day this allegation and the subsequent death threats will never be looked into. It reminds me of the raw FBI files found in the basement of the White House with Hillary’s crew all over them creating a enemies list an extreme felony that absolutely no one was prosecuted for.

I think that those of us who believe in objective truth all saw it coming. But it’s not ignorance; it’s wishful thinking. So many Americans wanted a president of African descent so badly that they were willing to accept anyone who came along and who was not Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton and they weren’t willing to look too closely inside the mouth of this gifthorse.
I also think that a great deal of racism is involved but not in the manner that is usually pointed out. Some white Democrats who aren’t around black people that much think that a “clean, articulate” black man is some kind of anomaly. (Heck if those were the lone criteria for having a president that’s black, we could have voted for all the American men in my family over 35 or for my fiance. We would have had at least two chances of getting a conservative.)
Thing is, when lots of white Democrats think of black men, a black guy like Willie Horton is conjured, in spite of the fact that good law-abiding black dudes are all around them. So in order to redeem themselves of their “racial sins,” they vote for the guy that’s “clean and articulate”; the One who isn’t “too black”; the One who they might let their daughter go out with; the One looks like he’d never dream of breaking the law.
Turns out he’s the biggest pick-pocket there is.

Wouldn’t this be like the Watergate of this era? Isn’t this the holy grail type of scandal that every reporter hopes comes his way?
So why isn’t every news source jumping in all over this? Why isn’t there a vigil of reporters at the White House waiting to get at the truth?
It looks like the liberal corruption of University journalism departments started decades ago has paid off handsomely.

Well … That is a major part of the Obama plan – overwhelming debt to END “Federalism” and “States Rights”.
A lot of people think – “What is Obama going to do with this massive debt?”
The answer is – it’s part of his plan to “reshape” America.
He cannot “reshape” America and consolidate power at the Federal level unless he first ends “states rights”.
He’s going to do that by creating a “debt crisis”.
Americans pay income taxes to two sources, one is to the Federal Government and the other is to the State they live in (there are a few exceptions).
I’m convinced part of the “stimulus” was designed to get states into a “hyper-spending” mode. The federal government encourages the states to spend more on programs like unemployment – but the federal dollars only last a few years and after that, the state must either reduce the benefits or raise taxes to pay for them. If they can’t successfully do either – then they will be back to asking for a bailout from the Federal government.
But at the same time – the massive FEDERAL debt is racking up – and taxpayers are getting KILLED by paying income taxes to both the Feds and the State.
At that point – the argument will be to END ALL STATE TAXES. Everyone will pay Federal taxes and then the dollars will be apportioned to the states out of the federal treasury. This will be the most efficient route to paying off Federal and State debts since the feds will collect all income tax revenues and apportion them according to need.
But it will end the 10th Amendment and States Rights as we know them.
Folks – a big part of the “Obama Doctrine” is to force a crisis that has only ONE solution – Obama’s solution – the socialist solution. You see this being used time and again – he just used it last week to give Chrysler to the Labor Unions. He gets exactly what he wants – to reshape America – and at the same time he gets to say that his solution was the only possible solution to the problem. He’s an expert – the guy is a radical genious and he’s obvilously studied many of the Communist greats – like Mao, Lenin … Etc.

The Strange Case of Professor Obama and Mr Hussein is a real life drama playing out in the aftermath of the Presidential election of 2008. It is about the dilemma of the American citizen who sees strange dissonances between the new found Messiah, Professor Obama, and the misanthropic Mr. Hussein. It is a vivid portrayal of a split personality, split in the sense that within the same person there is both an apparently good and an evil personality each being quite distinct from the other; in mainstream culture the very phrase “Obama and Hussien” will come to mean a person who is vastly different in moral character from his public speeches and his behind the scenes actions.
