This guy needs to voluntarily retire or be terminated for cause. He is in a supervisory position and his demeanor effects that people that work under him.

Frankly, a two week suspension is a joke. I have seen my fellow officers terminated for far less than what this guy did. No wonder this guy felt he could abuse this woman with impunity if all he gets is a slap on the wrist from his chief.

He has the “god complex” IMHO and this time he got caught on tape. The fact he never asked why she was calling 911, is not only outrageous it is very disturbing to say the least.

He wanted to teach this girl a lesson and he got away with it, apparently she was unlawfully detained and arrested on a bogus charge on top of everything else this poor woman endured that night.

911 operators have a tough job but this was not an unusual call at all.I have seen and heard far worse without the caller being humg up on or the operator losing his or her cool.

I just have to wonder if this guy was recently transferred from patrol and was assigned in the 911 center for some other reason.

His attitude is what I would expect from a guy that is burn out from working patrol and was mandatorily transfered to a less demanding position due to his “tude”.

The fact the reporter said there was nothing in his file for disciplinary reasons is meaningless. Personnel files are not public record and he could have had been written up for all kinds of problems that would not be made public.

Of course the department is going to say he is highly decorated. They are looking at a negligence lawsuit and I would be willing to bet the jury will not find that a compelling reason to dismiss the case against this jerk.

He apparently has other problems as well like lying which is usually not tolerated by any department. An officer is only as good as his reputation and since he lied for all the public to see he will never be believed in future court testimony.Any defense attorney worth his salt will bring this case up as an example of his integrity. He is done making any arrests because of this and I would not be surprised if his previous arrests are reviewed.

IMHO Lincoln Park PD has problems at the top and this is just not an isolated incident.

He is damn lucky he ain’t facing manslaughter charges, and he sure as fuck has no business with a badge and gun. Time to retire before his God complex does get somebody killed.

I understand that this young lady was upset and under a lot of stress, but one point they always make for 911 calls is to try and remain as calm as possible. That police officer shouldn’t have been the “Good-manners Polizei” and chastise her for her language and she should have tried to keep the swearing to a minimum.

But honestly, this guy is a cop. How many times has he been told to f*** himself? I mean, really, he was acting like he never heard that word before. I think they’ve handled the situation with this guy exactly how it should have. Props to the Lincoln Park PD.

They are both prime examples of why I don’t trust Law Enforcement as far as I can throw the car they’ll arrive in.

Clearly, neither of them has the temperament or judgment that we should expect from any mature and responsible person, let alone a person who claims that their job is to “Protect and Serve”. That’s protecting and serving at it’s finest, I’d say.

If that’s the best Lincoln Park (in whichever State) can find, I’m thanking The Lord I don’t live there!

I hope the girl and her family sue and win big considering that the police department isn’t handling things as they should.

My final decision, after going over most of the thread is, he should not be fired, because of his record, but he should transferred to a position where he can’t interact with the public. Again.

No actually he won’t. He violated procedure and recklessly endangered a civilian’s life because he didnt like what she said. What if he hated cheesburgers and she said cheeseburgers three times and then he hung up on her?

His behavior is that stupid. He should be terminated at once. As a law enforcement professional he has a DUTY to perform his job regardless of his PERSONAL issues. Cops by the way have some of the worst gutter mouths I have ever heard.

This type of extreme stupidity is not only dangerous to citizens, but also costly to the citizens who have to subsidize such jackassery in paying out $$$ in court costs and jury awards.

Yeah, he did. I don’t care how many years he’s been on the force; he needs a reminder who he’s serving and how to handle stressful situations.

As I said, there IS NO EXCUSE, at all, for HANGING UP on a 9-11 call! And to CURSE at her? And hanging up again, and again, and not even bothering to find out what the emergency was? Give me a break! This guy ought to be canned ……
