Let it come out at some point in the future that someone in the Obama administration had authorized the waterboarding of militia members and other assorted “domestic right-wing threats”, and you wouldn’t bat an eye.

Oh that isn't true. After all, aren't our liberals friends doing their best to get Bill Clinton arrested for his use of "extraordinary rendition"?

I think there is a better chance that Obama will be dragged into Blago's crimes than there are that Bush and Cheney will face censure.

After all, the same CIA and military that operated under Bush and Cheney is still out there. They are still risking their lives. I doubt very much if Obama wants to go after the very people he depends on everyday, especially when the whole issue is partisan driven crap anyway.

I think he is jerking you around strangelet. Just like the military tribunals, etc. He is laughing his ass off at people like you.

Sucker!!

Ireland exposed priests too, that goes to show what you know. Anyone can bring a lawsuit for anything. Hell there were people bringing lawsuits to prove that Obama is not an American citizen too. So what?

I swear strangelet sounds more like getalife every day.

The obvious thing is that George Bush said the same thing, the US does not torture. And here strangelet is saying the same thing Bush did while calling him all sorts of names in the process.

I think the lawsuit is nonsense. I think what strangelet is partisan nonsense. And I think the depth of strangelet's hatred and need to be vindictive is mind boggling.

I think what the left did to Bush was character assasination and I can’t be for that. I’m not saying coservatives shouldn’t play hardball, I’m just saying there should be rules and regulations. And below the belt character punches shouldn’t be allowed.

terryannonline on May 2, 2009 at 11:21 AM

Well I am for that. That is of course if the Leftists had any character left to assassinate.

I say take everything they've done and put it under the spotlight and microscope simultaneously. They put themselves up for the image of saint. Let's see how they stack up.

Point is: Obama's a Chicago gangland thug. An arm of the outfit. Nothing less. To treat him like nothing less is to be dishonest.

So let's treat him like one already! Let's look at what he's done. Let's look at the possible connections. Treat him the same way that a zealous DA would look at a man with possible mob connections. And when we find something: drag him to the court of public opinion and the mercy of the jury there.

And btw strangelet, Bush is and was a pro life Republican, anyone who says he used to be a Republican should understand that Bush's stand on embryonic stem cell research was in keeping with his party's policy. And besides, I think that adult stem cells have thus far shown more promise for real usable treatments, however if private research groups can make a lot of money off of this research, there is nothing to stop them. Where are the donors?

Not only that someday there might be a commission to find if the Obama administration broke the law in regards to TARP. There might be people who think that attorneys who gave sanction to the bailouts were not only wrong, but should be prosecuted.

BTW, I don't believe you were ever Republican and if you really give a damn about embryonic stem cell research you would give Bush credit for being the first president that ever gave any federal funding to it all and he never outlawed it or anything of the kind. The Abu Ghraib law suit is ridiculous. And I think you must be very young, otherwise you would know that nothing that is done today can compare to the kind of interrogation that took place for decades during the cold war. Somehow people like you kept quiet about it when you saw no political advantage in pursuing it.

strangelet:

I doubt that, and if there is it might not turn out like you want. Imagine when all those memos are released and it turns out that thousands of lives were saved. Then what? Will you wish them all dead?

The problem with people like you is that is all a game to you. You do not know or care about the repercussions. If these attacks are not stopped and people die here, on our soil there will be retribution. The only way to save lives is to stop the attacks before they happen.

I think that interrogators are always trying to find new and better ways to get information without killing people.

If there is an investigation, Bush might not be the torture President, he could be the president who saved thousands of lives in spite of people like you.

A truth commission is going to be bloodbath for the GOP.
Two reasons–
1) Abu Ghraib soldiers lawsuit.
2) Half of the intelligentsia of the GOP agrees that Bush and Cheney institutionalized a secret torture program that violated the treaty Reagan signed off on.

strangelet on May 2, 2009 at 2:44 PM
A truth commission will also tell us how many of those suddenly-sanctimonius Democrats were in the loop. Which is why there probably won't be one, after they've reflected on it long and hard. Ex post facto law. Why, some day attempts to instituite Card Check and nationalized health care could be called treason. A slippery slope I don't think the left wants to try, if they have any intelligence at all.

I was a republican, and torture, hESCR, and Iraq are some of things that made me vote for Obama.
Like most of my demographic.

And you know something strangelet, your chronology is off. The US Senate, dominated by Democrats voted to give the President authority to invade Iraq more than a year after we went into Afghanistan. In that year Democrats did not do or say anything that would lead anyone to believe that their policy in Afghanistan was any different from Bush's. They did not ask for more troops to be sent in or anything else. The whole idea of not doing enough in Afghanistan vs Iraq came much later when Iraq war opponents were looking for something to complain about.

Christian Conservative:

I think Bush thought the office of the President was above all that. He might have been wrong in some ways, but since Obama has taken office and acted like he won American Idol rather than the White House I have to say I miss some of that dignity. Especially when Obama starts smirking at Tea Party protesters. Bush did not do that to anti war people.
