The dumbest segment ever: CNN on Obama’s “swagga”
posted at 6:19 pm on April 29, 2009 by Allahpundit
To cleanse the palate, a dose of flava. Had Megyn Kelly pulled this on Juan Williams over at FNC — replete with rap intro and gratuitous fist bump — you’d have seen lefties immolating themselves in horrified protest at the cartoonish stereotyping. As it is, this isn’t half bad as a microcosm of the media’s coverage of The One’s first 100 days: Consumed with style and barely trying to conceal their admiration. When you’re fourth place in the ratings, I guess it doesn’t matter what you do; no one’s watching anyway. Click the image to watch.

In both a protest against religious license plates and a possible revenue generating vehicle for state workers who’s pay has been cut, Al Lawson, a Florida state representative wants a “Can a Brotha Get a Break” license plate. Everything is mainstream now.
I wonder how much revenue it would generate? Better this then another stimulus bill.
Cindy Munford on April 29, 2009 at 6:33 PM
Good God! What a mess CNN has become. I worked there for 15 years and never saw something as awful as this. Even through the Clinton years when the Executives at CNN had a direct line into the Oval Office, it never got this bad. If I was Mary Matalin and Bill Bennett, I would give notice as soon as possible.
This fawning over Prompterbama is getting old. You know it will not matter what he does I think the MSM is acting this way because they see the writing on the wall. Just after the mid-term elections Prompterbama will order Fox News Off the Air! The media will be controlled by the White House like the census will be. ACORN volunteers and the television unions will own the networks.
I might be a bit sarcastic but come on… Obama owns the big banks, the big car makers and soon the big newspapers. NBC can’t meet rent in DC? Geez, has GE bank accounts been drained by CEO Cheesemelt? Maybe that’s why John Madden retired, NBC Sports could not afford his contract. Plus, I guess the Olympics will be on ESPN/ABC in the future. Once a great network GE has run it into the ground..
Prompterbama! Thank God there is only one.

Everything for the “black man” except the leash and the organ grinder.
“Shuck and Jive” my man, she should have put on the black face.

right2bright on April 29, 2009 at 6:46 PM
What??
That wasn’t the Cartoon Network?
That “black-ish” anchor is window dressing for the hipsters they hope to draw to their pathtic money pit network. Why else would he yuk it up at his race’s expense?
He is merely one of DOZENS of iconic cafe latte male models scattered on the pages of ever Macy’s catalog across the media spectrum. Anybody else noticed that trend?
Sickening.

Sloan Morganstern on April 29, 2009 at 6:59 PM
Easy, now.
My astute observation of ads from WalMart to Neiman Marcus is spot on and while you see a personal problem, I see an marked uptick in pale skinned black men splashed all over print media.
Perhaps it is YOU who have the “personal problem”.
seejanemom on April 29, 2009 at 7:00 PM
Does this mean black-sploitation films are back in vogue? If so I guess I’ll have to pick up a copy of Blackula on the way home if I want to hang with the in-crowd!/
Liberty or Death on April 29, 2009 at 7:03 PM
Let me get this straight. Incoming freshman must endure a diversity indoctrination upon entering college just in case they may decide to do something in black face during the four years or so that they are there, but CNN shuffles out black men to entertain us with the stereotypical black shuck and jive?
And we’re the racists.
Jvette on April 29, 2009 at 7:05 PM
I thought it was Pretty Fly (for a white guy)!
Christien on April 29, 2009 at 7:05 PM
Light-skinned black people have been appearing in magazines quite a bit for the last 25-30 years or so. I shop too. You may have just started noticing because of him.
I have a lot of them. However, you’re the one who called it “sickening,” so I can only guess at what yours are.
baldilocks on April 29, 2009 at 7:06 PM
I am telling you, it was no different then her being in “black face” and the “black-ish” guy should have gotten up and walked out, if he was really a “black” MAN. But he sat there and was humiliated and made fun of by the “white” woman.
If someone like Hannity had done that, OMG, hell to pay.
And you can bet a man like Juan Williams, would have shaken his head and dressed her down…but then she wouldn’t have done that to a “black man”, just a “black-ish man”.
What I would think the black community has fought so hard against, they are now embracing…interesting times.
right2bright on April 29, 2009 at 7:07 PM
Ahhh…such is life on the Democrat’s Plantation.
First Dems tell capable black people that they can’t function without their handouts, then they lampoon them on national tv.
That poor anchorman plays into it because he is so “domesticated” that he can’t help himself.
Sickening x 2.

To be honest, one of mine is splitting my infinitives.
PLEASE PLEASE go back to the original comment, and notice that I STARTED talking about the “Cartoon Network” quality of the CNN piece. GOD STRIKE ME DEAD, if (apparently only in my head)that is not what I was calling “sickening”.
I should have put the part about print ads in a bracket or something….sorry. Genuinely.
Ed will vouch for me. I am NO racist.
And besides, baldi, I thought at SOME point you were part of The Cotillion, too. I’d never diss on a sister. OR a Black American, just for the hell of it.
NEVER.
seejanemom on April 29, 2009 at 7:14 PM
And the distressing part is the role of the “HOUSE ******RS” that have now bought into that role.
Of course Jackson and Sharpton and others were already there, but now there is a new “boy” in town.
How long will it be until the “folk” began to realize they are still on the outside looking in, hoping now that one of “them” throws them a scrap or two.

You’re SO, SO, NOOOOooot an idiot. You are one of my heroes. Seriously.
I accept no apology from you because one is not warranted.
I will share your sadness at this “duping of the masses” and I have shared the frustration with (here it comes) my black Conservative friends.
I cannot know the ACTUAL frustration, but I have heard it from them >>> how hard it is to be a THINKING member of a group otherwise expected to go alng with the herd.
Most of my Conservative black friends are military members, and it is doubly painful for them having to follow what WOULD and SHOULD be a matter of PRIDE for them (the first black President)—but they do it with a heavy heart.

You’re right, that will happen to some and it won’t be pretty, but there will always be others who keep believing no matter what. Just look at all the women who gathered outside the courtroom every time R Kelly had a court date. And that was after the videotape of what he had done to that young black girl was widely seen.
