Exclusive excerpts: The Late Great State of Israel

posted at 8:42 am on April 28, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Aaron Klein’s new book, The Late Great State of Israel: How Enemies Within and Without Threaten the Jewish Nation’s Survival, gets its official release today, and I’ll be speaking with the WorldNet Daily correspondent live today on the Ed Morrissey Show this afternoon about it. Aaron gave Hot Air readers a couple of exclusive excerpts from the book to whet your appetites for both the book and the interview:

Israeli policies and follies the past few years have actually been strengthening Iran and emboldening it to surround the Jewish state with Tehran’s proxies, according to a new book released today.

“Of all the grave security threats facing Israel today, Iran is by far the single greatest. Controlled by a fanatical regime of Shi’ite Muslim revolutionaries, Iran today is a semi-fascistic country of more than 65 million whose leaders routinely threaten to annihilate the Jewish state. Its nuclear program, on the brink of weaponization, is clearly intended for hostile purposes. Among global political analysts, no one doubts that a nuclear Iran would be a game changer. It would irrevocably alter the balance of power in the Middle East, placing Tehran and all of its proxies (Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas) under the protection of a nuclear umbrella, and would give Iran the technical option of wiping Israel off the map….

“…Meanwhile, Iran has tied a noose around Israel’s neck that U.S.-Israeli policy has actually been strengthening in recent years. I am referring to concessions to Iran’s proxy war, which is killing Jews and strangling Israel at the country’s borders. The Islamic Republic is the principal military sponsor of the Ba’athist regime in Syria. Iran also directs, funds, arms, and trains the Lebanese Hezbollah south-facing combat group on Israel’s northern border. Iran is the main financial and military backer of the Palestinian terrorist organizations that border the Jewish state’s major population centers….

“…Minimized and little understood is the misplayed fiasco of Israeli diplomacy: how Israel legitimized the tyranny in Syria, ending its isolation even while Damascus plays host to terrorist leaders and furiously acquires thousands of advanced missiles; and how Israel has emboldened Iran to surround the Jewish state, to position its allies on the regional chessboard such that Tehran now possesses the capability to wreak havoc on Israel.”

According to Klein, the great Mideast democracy is headed down a road that, if not altered, may result in catastrophe.

“The greatest threat, the one that magnifies all others exponentially, is that only a few in Israel or abroad are aware of the real extent of the dangers facing the Jewish country—both from within and without,” writes Klein.

“Unless these perils are countered soon,” writes Klein, “the only remnant of the Jewish country may soon be an epitaph: ‘The Late, Great State of Israel.’”

While Klein fingers the Israeli government as often being its own worst enemy, he also shows how policies from the Obama administration and international community harm Israel’s interests and how Iran, Hamas, Palestinian terrorists and a host of other players are poised to end the Mideast democracy once and for all.

If Israel falls, America will be next in line, argues Klein.

That’s a lot to squeeze into a 30-minute interview, but that’s why you should buy the book. Don’t miss the show today, starting at 3 pm ET!

Ezekiel 38:1 The word of the Lord came to me “Son of man, turn toward Gog, of the land of
Magog (Turkey)
, the chief prince of
Meshech (Turkey)
and
Tubal(Turkey)
. Prophesy against him and say ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says Look, I am against you,
Gog (The Antichrist, The Islamic Mahdi, the Shia 12th Imam)
, chief prince of
Meshech (Turkey)
and
Tubal (Turkey).

I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and bring you out with all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them fully armed, a great company with shields of different types, all of them armed with swords.

Persia (Iran/Persia),
Ethiopia (Somalia/Sudan), and
Put (Libya)

are with them, all of them with shields and helmets. They are joined by

Gomer (Turkey)

with all its troops, and by
Beth Togarmah (Turkey)
from the remote parts of the north with all its troops – many peoples are with you.

38:10 “‘This is what the sovereign Lord says On that day thoughts will come into your mind, and you will devise an evil plan. You will say, “I will invade a land of unwalled towns; I will advance against those living quietly in security – all of them living without walls and barred gates – to loot and plunder, to attack the inhabited ruins and the people gathered from the nations, who are acquiring cattle and goods, who live at the center of the earth.”

Sheba and Dedan (Persian Gulf States?)

and the traders of
Tarshish with all its young warriors (unknown but some Meditarrean Naval/marine power)

I will call for a sword to attack Gog on all my mountains, declares the sovereign Lord; every man’s sword will be against his brother. I will judge him with plague and bloodshed. I will rain down on him, his troops and the many peoples who are with him a torrential downpour, hailstones, fire, and brimstone. I will exalt and magnify myself; I will reveal myself before many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.’

If you look at a map of Muslim population, there is a strong arch of Shias from Persia, up into Turkey and down into Lebanon.

Iran is making deals with Turkey, Sudan and Libya.

Egypt is not listed as an ally.. and nor is Egypt an ally of Iran today.

Turkey is over-emphasized. I wonder if that is because Turkey retains the claim to the seat of the Khalifate/Caliphate?

All just a coincidence , I’m sure.

Obama’s world appeasment policy is putting Israel and the middle east in great peril.

Its nuclear program, on the brink of weaponization, is clearly intended for hostile purposes. Among global political analysts, no one doubts that a nuclear Iran would be a game changer.

While the U.N. Security Council does little to sternly warn Iran, even our U.S. (Obama) policy is to “make nice” with “man caused disastrous” nations like Syria, Lebanon, and Iran’s proxy-funded fighters Hamas and Hezbollah. Why doesn’t President Obama do a photo-op of Air Force 1 flying over a nuclear bombed Israel as a preview of things to come?

Even still, for Olmert to have continued on as PM as long as he did was ludicrous. When a government’s policies have been wholly discredited they should lose support in the Knesset, or at the very least the PM resigns. That’s the way a parliamentary system is supposed to work.

Prophecy is fun. If you missed the timing you can always alter your prophetic vision to fit the facts at the moment or as they unfold.

Israel’s Arab cheerleaders:

It is a strange situation when Egypt and Jordan feel it necessary to defend Israel against American criticism. But this is the situation in which we find ourselves today.

Last Friday, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee that Arab support for Israel’s bid to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is contingent on its agreeing to support the rapid establishment of a Palestinian state. In her words, “For Israel to get the kind of strong support it’s looking for vis-a-vis Iran, it can’t stay on the sidelines with respect to the Palestinians and the peace efforts.” As far as Clinton is concerned, the two, “go hand-in-hand.”

But just around the time that Clinton was making this statement, Jordan’s King Abdullah II was telling The Washington Post that he is satisfied with the Netanyahu government’s position on the Palestinians. In his words, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has “sent a message that he’s committed to peace with the Arabs. All the words I heard were the right words.”

…As one American who recently met with Persian Gulf leaders explained last week, “As far as the Gulf leaders are concerned, Israel cannot attack Iran fast enough. They understand what the stakes are.”

There are prophecies against other nations – Ammon (Ezek 25:2-7), Moab (25:8-11), Edom (25:12-14), Philistia (25:15-17), Tyre (Ezek 28:1-19), Zidon (28:20-24), Egypt (Ezek 29), and mount Seir (Ezek 35).

The title to this post reminds me of a video report of similar nature which offers an extensive historic perspective – Farewell Israel

is an historic journey, from the birth of Islam, through its 1,200 year reign over the civilized world, to the last 300 years of Islamic decline, overtaken and dominated by the West — then humiliated by a Jewish state. Islam’s historic trials with Jews, and its relationship with conquered non-believers, help illustrate the Islamic world view – all through the eyes of Muslims.

This film

reaches the unavoidable conclusion that Western and Israeli misunderstanding of Islam is leading to a coming war – which will have devastating consequences for the West, and worst of all for Israel – Farewell Israel!

In the Old Testament, Ethiopia is Cush/black. The People of that region were considered by the Greeks , and others, to be white people with black faces because they do have similar facial features to caucasians. I believe that the Egyptians also had the same view.

My point is that the word is yet another code.

Yes, skin color is not the sole determinant of race. East Indians are mainly Aryan, for instance, though many of them are quite dark. Hair texture, facial bone structure and other things besides melanin content define race.

Akzed on April 28, 2009 at 10:29 AM

OldEnglish, I think you oversimplified a bit in regards to the people / mandate aspect in Israel. The Kadima platform of Sharon was very different than what we got, please keep in mind that Sharon was incapacitated by a stroke and Olmert took over pledging Sharon’s mandate which had been very tough, yet what we got after the elections was a massive swing left that let most disillusioned, and we tried for 2 years including mass demonstrations to get that govt out of power.. It is not as easy to do as one may imagine unfortunately..

This is reflected in the massive showing of the right wing in this recent election, where even left of center voters voted for the center right precisely because of the security challenges facing us.

I like Aaron Klein very much, he does minimize here from this exceprt the awareness of the people of Israel as to the situation.. We have been preparing for over 5-6 years now, we did engage Hezbollah for this reason, we did engage Gaza for this reason, we did bomb the nuclear facility in Syria, we are prepared to engage Iran (this is a last resort measure). It is very much eyes open here, Aaron needs to please keep in mind that we are a small nation, facing multiple enemies of the worst sort, with nary a voice of support internationally, constantly demonized when we act or even if we don’t.

We have been ramping & preparing for these challenges with full awareness, it must be said these things take time. The US which dwarfs Israel ramped for nearly a year before Iraq & to face certain challenges, this is just a reality..

Sorry for the long post, we are prearing here for our independence day celebrations, there is great spirit here, Israel is strong and we will prevail over the hordes!

Thank you for the enlightenment -it would seem that your politics is more complicated than most people have to endure. I must admit, i thought the recent swing was more to do with the failure of the attack on Hezbollah, than anything else.

Have a great celebration!

Hmmm . . . there’s nothing new here. No shocker, given Aaron’s history. I liked this book better, the first time around, when it was called, “Will Israel Survive?” By Mitchell Bard.

Sadly, Aaron Klein has a history of making stories up–like the FOX News paying ransom story he had to backtrack from–and plagiarizing the rest, as he has made a career of ripping off Israeli newspapers (something well known to Israelis, but apparently not to you, Ed), my site (here and here, among others), and other sites (including Bizzy Blog and Sweetness and Light) for his “exclusives”. He also has a history of inventing stories and pretending to be someone else to create stories that didn’t exist. More here. Glad to see he’s no longer pushing the “I’m an Orthodox Jew” marketing claim after he got exposed as a fraud in that category, too.

Thanks for enlightening us, Ed, that this is your kind of “journalism.”
