British MP “jokes”: If Miss California turns up dead, I did it

posted at 6:41 pm on April 27, 2009 by Allahpundit

A no-name backbencher from Labour’s left wing? Not quite: He’s a Tory libertarian who’s in line for a cabinet position if the conservatives take the next parliamentary election. He’s also openly gay, which is one thing he has in common with Perez Hilton; the other is his sneering reference to Miss Cali as a “bitch.”

Like Breitbart, I’m sympathetic to the cause of gay rights, and like Breitbart, my patience has worn thin:

I have a ton of wonderful gay friends – even ones “married” and with children. If gay activists created “A Day Without a Gay” (as they promoted Dec. 10 of last year), I’d be the first to cry “uncle” – even before Cher. So, accordingly, I make philosophical and political accommodations. I’m – as the MTV generation says – “gay-friendly.”

But lately, color me “gay perturbed.” “Gay-friendly,” a term once manifestly redundant, now seems a glaring contradiction…

I fear the vicious and hypocritical path that the activist gay left is headed on will eventually be met with a backlash. If it already hasn’t. Activism goes both ways and somehow the majority has a way of having its say. Unless the gay community polices itself better and registers its displeasure against these pitiful and selective acts of political retribution, many tolerant Americans who hold the same beliefs on marriage as Mr. Obama and the Dalai Lama are going to begin to register their displeasure at the voting booth and through consumer boycotts against those who employ or support the thuggish tactics of Perez Hilton and his ilk.

“A Day Without a Gay” may become a prolonged and mostly unspoken reality. Trust me, I don’t want to throw out all my John Waters DVDs. But if push comes to shove, and if the bullying continues, I’m more than willing to stay at a Ramada.

Note especially the casualness with which Duncan makes his “jokes,” smug in the knowledge that if she had said this about him or Hilton, it’d be a national scandal. I hope The One never has to welcome this turd to the White House as prime minister.

For the record, as a follow-up to Ed’s item earlier today, California pageant officials deny that they told her to apologize or not to mention her faith. I’m skeptical, but stay tuned.

Normally I’d be happy to vote for gay marriage. But with clowns like these I’m turning skeptical. If it’s such an important issue, don’t be @ssholes about it.

In contrast with most members of both CWF and Le Cercle, who hold pro-Republican Atlanticist views, he actively supported John Kerry in the United States’ 2004 presidential election.

Conservative is apparently a word used lightly there. Sort of like “Republican” to describe Lincoln Chaffee or Arlen Specter here.

I’m not hyper anti-gay marriage (though I’d much rather government get out of marriage altogether than for it to change it now that one taboo is no longer so taboo), but this is only proving those who are completely correct.

They said they’d be targeted, and that anything said against homosexuality would be considered hate speech, and that’s exactly what’s happening. These people are acting as though she killed someone. They’re acting as though their horrible reaction to her is justified because what she said is just that repugnant.

I don’t know if there will be a backlash, but people like him and Perez deserve one.

Dude, allah please update the earlier post… I’ve been following the Miss Cali drama really close…

http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2009/apr/27/ca-gay-marriage-miss-california-042709/

But public relations representative Roger Neal on Monday called those claims lies. Neal says he was one of the people who attempted to advise the Prejean. According to him, Prejean was urged to reiterate she didn’t mean to offend anyone, and to use the national spotlight “to heal some wounds.”

Prejean didn’t immediately return a call from The Associated Press.

Google his name… there’s no way he would have told her to recant completely from 1man-1woman marriage…

Make sure you have your speakers on when you go to this…

http://www.nealfamilyministries.com/

http://www.nealfamilyministries.com/bio.html

Roger Neal founded NEAL PUBLIC RELATIONS over 26 years ago representing the biggest names in hollywood and politics, from Bob Barker to Donny Osmond, Lee Greenwood, tv shows, tv specials, movies, President George Bush Sr during his administration serving on the Presdiental Advance Team

What Neal is most proud of is his 35 yr walk with Christ. Neal would meet Lynn Briggs and they would marry, Roger & Lynn Neal would have 3 children Chelsea, Roger jr and Bianca. Roger would help lead Lynn to the Lord and together they would lead their children to the Lord.

….

Maybe she got perturbed by what some person said from that group that tried to advise her… and got rid of their who representation… but she needs to explain what happened…

I’m tired of the “gay rights” canard. Homosexuals already have equal rights. They earn significantly more per capita than heterosexuals. They have positions of power in a wide array of fields. They already are equal under the law.

Is their lifestyle socially acceptable? Yeah. Is it condoned and encouraged in the public schools and in popular culture? Yeah. “Not that there’s anything wrong with that” is the only acceptable way to end any normative or factual statement about homosexuality in public. Heck, even Ms. Cali had to append the perfunctory, “Hey sorry if I offended anyone!” when expressing her opinion. When’s the last time a homosexual said anything of the kind when defending his position? Never. And they never will.

Now they’re joking about killing Ms. Cali. So much for Matthew Sheppard and the horror of joking about killing someone over this issue.

The only place where homosexuality is not coddled and kowtowed to is in the church, and even then only the most conservative churches.

I worked with a non-profit for a few years. One year our biggest annual event was approaching under the threat of a small group of gay/lesbian activist interrupting the weekend with sit-ins, and other similar tactics.
-
Their complaint; they wanted special mention and attention during the event. We sat down with them to discuss their concerns. It took forever to even get past the opening statements and such because we were constantly being called out for using the wrong language.
-
Reasonability applies to friends and neighbors perhaps, but activists by nature stir the pot just to stir the pot.

ninjapirate on April 27, 2009 at 7:43 PM

The amazing thing to me about this entire movement is the flippancy with which the gays dismiss the ‘slippery slope’ argument. They say it has nothing to do with polygamy.

The reason that it is amazing to me is that ENTIRE SOCIETIES in this world are centered around polygamy. . . even the Mormon religion used polygamy to increase its ranks here in the USA. ALL Muslim societies (over 1 billion people) understand polygamy as acceptable. Polygamy is practiced in the Bible.

Yet gay marriage has NEVER EVER ANYWHERE been a part of society. If it were to become reality here, it would be a first in the history of the world. . . and yet somehow if you don’t think it is a good idea, there is something wrong with you.

I’d support polygamy with a lot more ease than I would gay marriage. There is not an argument for gay marriage that does not include the ability for people of different cultures to practice polygamy as they do in other countries.

As far as I’m concerned, if gay marriage is legal, I’d demand polygamy to be legal.

ThackerAgency on April 27, 2009 at 7:48 PM

Anyone care to bet that the Shadow Minister for Humour here has never said the same thing about Muslim imams preaching real hatred against homosexuals in Britain?

And with polygamy legal, I’d marry an army of women (likely foreign until they marry me and become American) and live off of them and the fruits of their labor. Polygamy is the greatest invention in history for men – and it isn’t just about sex. . . it’s about family and raising a family in a stable environment.

ThackerAgency on April 27, 2009 at 7:52 PM

dugbru on April 27, 2009 at 7:37 PM

The vote was close and they’ll probably win another vote sometime in the next few years, unless the courts move ahead of that time.

In the past when the majority of voters have been opposed to Constitutional rights for some groups, the courts have stepped in. That is happening now in state courts. One can argue whether they should in this instance but a democracy without an enforced Constitution isn’t worth much beyond the results of the last election.

ThackerAgency on April 27, 2009 at 8:02 PM

Sounds good. It is enough of a challenge staying on the same page with my wife. If I had to settle disagreements between her and my additional wives I think I’d go crazy. Most married guys I know are just looking to escape to their man caves or get in 18 holes of golf on a sunny day, rather than have an affair or add a wife.

dedalus on April 27, 2009 at 8:09 PM

I understand the whole. . . ‘take my wife. . . please’ jokes.

But imagine if your wife could go to another of your wives (being in the same family) to address grievances rather than depend on you as a punching bag or sounding board all the time. She might prefer it and another wife could act more as a referee on your side.

Again, MARRIAGE is about FAMILY – PERIOD. Children need a stable environment in order to be raised properly and create good stable families of their own.

I contend we essentially practice polygamy here anyway. . . multiple marriages and divorces. They just aren’t all at the same time so it’s ‘acceptable’ that way.

Marriage turns ‘love’ into an ownership proposition. People shouldn’t own each other anyway. . . but family should be committed to each other come hell or high water.

ThackerAgency on April 27, 2009 at 8:13 PM

No kidding. I voted for their damn Prop 8 because I figured they’re entitled to as much misery as straights. But after seeing their hissy fit, stomping on old ladies in Palm Springs, methinks — screw you. You just want to hijack the institution to sue churches for making you feel bad about yourselves.

I hope The One never has to welcome this turd to the White House as prime minister.

Obama would give him lotion, tissues, and an autographed picture of himself.

Ah, yes, I remember well the dark days of 1995-1997, when I lived with two gay men in a ghetto. During the day, we would eat feral cats and dodge Church patrols bent on ‘turning us straight.’ Even though I am hetero-sexual, I know for a fact i was targeted by Governor Booosh for re-education. I’ll never forget my public humiliation when I finally left the gay ghetto..I had to demonstrate my hetero sexuality so I could join the mainstream. I left my roommates my ration card and my transistor radio..and I’ve never looked back. Now that gays are being given basic civil rights, I’m able to look myself in the eye again. Thanks to people like you AP, my roommates won’t have to eat garbage and burn animal carcasses for heat anymore. Free at last…

What we really need is some kind of cure for homosexuality. We need to isolate the gay gene and then use all this federally funded stem cell research to find a solution to wiping it out and replacing it with the straight gene. Yes, this would impact certain areas of the economy – ticket sales for musical theatre and Barbara Streissand albums would decline steeply but we could allocate TARP funds to lessen the strain.

This is the Audacity of Hope.

Then you also have something in common with this schmuck guy.

The irony here is as England is quickly turning into Londonistan with all the caving in to Muslims and their cries for Sharia law, this stupid queer is going to be stoned to death in the street. Man, some people are just too stupid. Darwinism really does work. With this homo, it’s now working at least twice, gay and stupid pretty much knocked this bigot out of the gene pool…..

I always thought a “bitch” was the one on the receiving end of a gay relationship. Maybe these gay guys are unconsciously revealing inner desires towards her that they can’t understand themselves.

What rights am I guaranteed that gays do not currently have?

You can probably have your marriage recognized by the state while they probably can’t.

All these liberals do realize that both Obam and Hillary are against gay marriage, don’t they? Does that make Obama a b!tch and hillary a cu-t?

I often wonder to myself why a certain sexual preference is given a right. Homosexuals like to call a person a bigot if they do not agree with their position, but lusting after someone of the same sex is not a race and certainly has not been proven to be genetic. I know the Gay community claim this has been proven, but it has not. If this were the case, I guess they could also prove that other sexual attractions are also passed on in our DNA, like Bestiality, Pedophillia or even prefering blondes.
My main concern is what is being done to the religious community. Every time I read a paper it seems some politician is attempting to criminalize religious beliefs by making it a thought crime etc. Also I see a lot of rage from Homosexuals and non-believers directed at people who try to practice Gods commandments.
I used to have the attitude that what they did behind closed doors was between them and their maker. But now they are not satisfied with that deal, instead they are in our school systems indoctrinating our children, in Government writing our laws and in our courts interpreting rights that don’t exist. I really think that people should not be afraid of thinking about this issue and taking a stand.

According to SCOTUS it is if you marry someone of the opposite sex.

Gays, gays, gays….. I wonder who’s more intolerant? The Taliban, or the current gay spokespeople?

Honestly, I’m not sure which I would rather be under. There’s no question that the militant gays, if they ran everything like the Taliban does, would act fairly much the same. I probably would rather be under the Taliban though. At least many of my beliefs are okay under the Taliban–a strong family, faithfulness to God, etc. And when they execute me for praying to someone other than Allah, I’m a martyr. When the gaystapo executes me for being “intolerant,” they’ll do their best to be “politically correct” about it. I.E. they will try to destroy me body, soul, spirit, and erase my family name from history.

Hyperbole? Just look at the current gay leaders actions and tell me that if they had sole power to do what they want, I’d be wrong.

Marriage turns ‘love’ into an ownership proposition. People shouldn’t own each other anyway. . . but family should be committed to each other come hell or high water.

ThackerAgency

You’re trying to make “ownership” sound negative. Would you feel better if we call it “belonging”? For almost 36 years my wife and I have belonged to each other. Love and committment is a form of ownership, whether you want it to be or not. I sense that you are arguing against the abuse that people can heap upon their “belongings”. If that’s your point, then no disagreement here.
