Jeff,

I'll go slowly this time so that maybe you can follow along.

First off, I never said his approval rating has fallen below 60%. I said it hasn't fallen below 60% in a while. This is in response to your claim that his gallup approval rating was at 56% the day the post you cited was written. That is incorrect. Again, look at this link.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/113980/Gallup-Daily-Obama-Job-Approval.aspx

You'll notice that it's NEVER been at 56%. His job approval today is 65%. Last Friday it was atleast 65%.

You cite that USA today article. great. Gallup did say 56% said he was doing a good or excellent job. But as I said before, that's not the same as his job approval rating

The woman in the post you cite compares the 56% good and excellent marks to past president's job approval ratings. It's a false comparison. Now, if she compared that 56% to past president's combined good/excellent ratings -- fine. But she didn't. She compared it to their job approval ratings. Obama's job approval rating is higher than 56% and higher than most of the presidents cited "100 day" approval rating.

Do you honestly not understand this?

Again, I asked you to provide a link because I had a sinking suspicion you were full of sh*t.

Shipley

I don't respect someone who uses gratuitous profanity in their speech, Shipley. It's a sign of intellectual and moral laziness.

Now, you claimed that Mr. Obama's Gallup approval ratings have never fallen below 60%. You are incorrect.

Yet last week's USA Today reported:

USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds 56% say [Obama] has done an "excellent" or "good" job as president vs. 20% who rate him as "poor" or "terrible." An additional 23% say he has done "just OK."

Shipley is flailing.

Sad.

Okay I know this isnt an Obamateurism but I just saw this video on the comcast homepage and almost choked on my coffee. It’s AP video of a bird having hatchlings outside the Whitehouse doorway. I didnt know where else to post it and I wanted to share. I sent the link to tips@hotair maybe we can get a section on here for over the top press coverage of “The One” we can call them “O”gasims or something. Be warned this marshmallow fluff and cotton candy sweet.

These polls are getting tougher. Too many Obamateurisms! At some point it's going to have to be "Obamateurism of the Day". But that would be too much... a little Obama goes a really long way.

Obama is the beneficiary of a monolithic hive mind Democratic base. No matter how many times he stumbles, no matter what he does, no matter what excesses he takes, 92% will be there to goosestep off the bridge for him when the time comes.

Look to the crosstabs for his approval among moderates and republicans. He is a dismal failure propped up only by the unyielding yes-man mentality of Democrats.

I was swooning over some lovely Palestrina last weekend myself.

Are there any classical music blogs that link to some well-produced videos?

I'm with the rest of your cheering squad, hawkdriver. Be safe and make it clear to those who wish us harm that goodness and freedom trump evil and despotism.

Thanks for the AmThinker link on Ginsburg, maverick muse. It will come in handy when our next SC vacancy occurs.

I'm a Puccini fan, myself. But, for some strange ethnicity-driven reason, I find Richard Wagner just plain great music.

Your verb tenses are confusing. Are you saying his approval was or is in the mid-60s?

It’s important, because you’re calling my source a bogus comparison when in fact it was correct at the time it was written.

Today his approval rating is 65%.

And no, it was not correct at the time it was written. Here's the gallup tracking of his approval rating. As you can see, it was in the mid-sixties last friday when that poll was written (and hasn't dipped below 60% for a while). It may have actually been higher than 65%.

Again, you're apparently too dense to see that it's a false comparison. They added together those who say he's doing a good or excellent job to get the 56% number, then compare it to the job approval number (which is not come to by adding the "excellent" and "good" numbers) of past presidents.

It's a false comparison. If you compare Obama's job approval rating to the numbers the woman uses, he does very well:

April approval ratings in first year in office
Bush now 62%
Clinton, 1993 55
Bush, 1989 58
Reagan, 1981 67
Carter, 1977 63
Nixon, 1969 61
Obama 2009 65

Again, I asked you to provide a link because I had a sinking suspicion you were full of sh*t. No surprise I was right.

Your verb tenses are confusing. Are you saying his approval was or is in the mid-60s?

It’s important, because you’re calling my source a bogus comparison when in fact it was correct at the time it was written.

Today his approval rating is 65%.

And no, it was not correct at the time it was written. Here’s the gallup tracking of his approval rating. As you can see, it was in the mid-sixties last friday when that poll was written (and hasn’t dipped below 60% for a while). It may have actually been higher than 65%.

Again, you’re apparently too dense to see that it’s a false comparison. They added together those who say he’s doing a good or excellent job to get the 56% number, then compare it to the job approval number (which is not come to by adding the “excellent” and “good” numbers) of past presidents.

It’s a false comparison. If you compare Obama’s job approval rating to the numbers the woman uses, he does very well:

April approval ratings in first year in office
Bush now 62%
Clinton, 1993 55
Bush, 1989 58
Reagan, 1981 67
Carter, 1977 63
Nixon, 1969 61
Obama 2009 65

Again, I asked you to provide a link because I had a sinking suspicion you were full of sh*t. No surprise I was right.

I’m voting the Monroe Doctrine as it’s demise is an absolute retraction not only of our international diplomatic rights, but is an absolute dissolution of our national sovereign rights. Without sovereignty, there is nothing, no need for national defense, intelligence, nada.

THAT dissolution of our sovereignty is what Obama’s blabbing, whining, persecuting and prosecuting is all meant to burn and flush.

I seriously debated choosing the Monroe Doctrine, too. Personally, I don't think that Obama could articulate what it is. (Maybe Gibson or Couric could interview him to find out.) He doesn't have a knowledge of American or world history to support how much of our policy has come about nor the justification for it.

Obama is pushing the memos' issue in order to push and eventually cede the decision to the UN or the ICC. Not only is Obama pandering to his rabid nutroots' base, who are bent on vengeance against all things Bush, but Obama is a puppet for Soros, who promotes the dissolution of nation.

Obama does not see the United States as a beacon of freedom or of exceptionality. That the leader of our nation is so patently averse to our nation's fineness while ignoring blatant, horrific abuses of power by other nations in the past and currently is a sad statement of how Obama ever rose to the position of power that he wields.

maverick muse on April 26, 2009 at 1:44 PM

Marc-André Hamelin is a favorite pianist, primarily for works by Charles-Valentin Alkan, an extraordinary, reclusive, French, Jewish composer. I mentioned Hamelin as his performance of Liszt's Un sospiro will show up at the top of You Tube. For Liszt, I don't have a favorite pianist, as I enjoy many different interpretations. I once played piano.

I enjoy listening to all Western Classical Music traditions, from Medieval chant to contemporary, like Górecki, Pärt, et al. All except for opera. Happy to discuss any of this any time, but there are just so few Hot Air Classical Music threads. I think it's a conspiracy.

The truth is that they are doing EXACTLY what they set out to do……which is to destroy the power and traditions of the USA, and create world chaos, which will be another “crisis” which they intend to exploit.

notagool on April 26, 2009 at 11:41 AM

Speaking of crisis, surprise: Obama administration has officially declared a national health crisis due to swine flu.

Let me ask a question: what's the first thing a competent President does when the country is in real crisis?

1. Solve the problem.
2. Order a criminal investigation of your predecessor.

Bzzzz.

Obama is a marxist hack. But you knew that.

That’s the percent of people who say he’s doing a good or excellent job.

Tom_Shipley on April 26, 2009 at 1:00 PM

By the way, notice Shipley wants to count someone as approving of glorious historic leader when respondent says Obama is doing LESS THAN a good job.

This is what liberals have done to our education system. It's all about feelings. Stretching semantics to the limit to satisfy the leftist's infantile fantasy. Reality: optional.

They claim Obama’s Gallup approval rating is 56%: It’s not.
That’s the percent of people who say he’s doing a good or excellent job. His approval rating is in the mid-60s and higher than many of those they compare them to.

It was a bogus comparison and you were too dumb to realize it.

Tom_Shipley on April 26, 2009 at 1:00 PM

Your verb tenses are confusing. Are you saying his approval was or is in the mid-60s?

It's important, because you're calling my source a bogus comparison when in fact it was correct at the time it was written.

Oh wait, you aren't talking about the hack poll that was released this morning showing glorious leader to have approval in the mid-60s?

Oh please tell me Shipley didn't fall for this morning's freak outlier.

Shipley, a guy could never go broke underestimating your judgment.

God bless you son.
