In cold blood: Taliban gun down couple for “adultery” in Pakistan

Coming soon to Islamabad, a shining example of the glories of shari’a. This is the second cell-phone video of Taliban brutality this month to “shock” Pakistan; the uproar over the first was sufficient to merit a story in the NYT. How is it, I wonder, that people who share a country with these degenerates are more surprised by their behavior than I am? This is who they are, and this is what they do. It’s one thing for Americans to have been sleepwalking about jihadism before 9/11 considering that it was almost entirely an overseas phenomenon, but what’s Pakistan’s excuse?
Too late now, in any case.
Islamabad’s defences are being hurriedly fortified, with paramilitary troops stationed on the Margalla Hills, which overlook the city from the West. In the capital, there are thousands of followers of the radical Red Mosque, where there are now open calls for Islamic revolution at the weekly Friday prayers.
“The Taliban will not stop at Swat. They will come towards Islamabad,” said Hasan Askari Rizvi, a military analyst based in Lahore. “If the army is to take action against them, it is going to be a really bloody battle. And then civil government will be knocked out.”
“Extremist groups based in Islamabad will move from within and they (Taliban) will build pressure from outside.”
According to the Telegraph, the Taliban actually invited a local reporter to record this as a warning to anyone who might see it of what’s coming. The Pakistani military liquidated 30 of them today, to serve notice that taking Islamabad won’t be easy, but there have been what seems like 100 of these halting operations over the last few years all following the same pattern: Tough talk from the government, incursion into the tribal areas, fighting ending in a stalemate, and finally “peace treaty” and withdrawal. I wonder how much territory they’ll get when the treaty ending this latest op is signed. Content warning.

Let the world see what kind of barbarians these monsters truly are. This wasn’t even an execution. How many times do you really need to shoot someone after they are dead?
Horrifying.

LOL! It’s also in the UN’s job description that they are supposed to enforce their own resolutions.
They refused to do so against Iraq, and in fact some of their highest officials were caught in the Saddam Hussein Oil for Food sham.
Gotta simple question for you kid-how old are you?
I’ll be here waiting for your answer. But doubt I will get one.

Obama has a problem. Pakistan has 10X’s the strategic value of Afghanistan yet he is beefing up our forces there.
Everyone on the planet knows he won’t go into Pakistan in force. We don’t have the proper head count or political will.
The result is the Taliban get in Pakistan what they could not gain in Afghanistan, a Sharia state. From this new base the Taliban and Al Queda can keep us busy with cross border incursion for decades.
Another Vietnam quagmire
I don’t want any more American men and women to die trying to save these cave men from themselves. It may not be a popular sentiment but I say bring our men and women home.

Makes stuff like this a lot safer for the perps.

Sorry to be ugly and personal about this, but how you can propose the UN as a solution to this kind of stuff, given their performance over the last 20+ years, is disgusting.

No, you’re pretty much a dumb@$$ lib with no knowledge of history nor wisdom of experience.
Would have been no meddling if the Taliban had turned over Bin Laden and his AQ buddies after 9/11 as demanded. Totally reasonable request on our part since an act of war had been committed by people resident AND SANCTIONED by people in their country. Oh, did I mention the Taliban SANCTIONED and was both supporting and supported by AQ? That made their government complicit and a part of an act of war on a sovereign nation. The fact that we waged a short, high-tempo action to remove the Taliban and preserve as much infrastructure and protect civilians indicates a strong act of compassion by a nation that had been attacked. Had such an act been committed upon the Soviet Union, the negotiations would have been much shorter and the results would most likely have included radioactive waste.
After the Taliban had been ousted, we had little choice but to help rebuild. Nature and politics abhor a vacuum and it was necessary to make sure that AQ was not able to reconstitute itself in Afghanistan.
It certainly has helped the insurgents that the majority of the western media and particularly the US main stream media have been on the side of the terrorists. Had the media rallied support and shown the good things happening, or at least been impartial, the propaganda war would not have resulted in the number of casualties that it has.

President Obama presented his “comprehensive new strategy” for Afghanistan and Pakistan. It was neither new, nor a strategy. Behind all the rhetoric, he just said, I’m sending more troops and more money.
Barack Obama? I heard Lyndon Johnson. The only LBJ touch that BHO lacked was the word “escalation.”
Obama’s approach just stinks of Vietnam.

A few random thoughts on the subject…
Our trolls are getting more simplistic and their posts shorter. It’s a sure sign that some of you are getting easier to bite the lure.
If the CIA had contingency plans for evacuation of Paki nukes, Obama should request them, and update that plan. But who would blame the CIA for losing them, given their recent treatment at the hands of the current administration?
The Paki ISI has always been sympathetic to the Taliban, going back to before they had that name. During the russian occupation of Afghanistan, the ISI did more supplying and training of Afghani’s than the US, mostly to keep them in the fight for their homeland, as the refugee problem in Wasiristan and Swat was becoming untenable. And now, a lot of the pakistani army is comprised of men from these tribes that have gone Taliban. To expect them to fight against bretheren may be asking too much. So the genie is out of the bottle. Who is to stop them now?
OneEyedJack on April 26, 2009 at 8:55 PM
The saddest part is that this happened while we were looking right at them. We could have excused Afghanistan because we weren’t paying attention. BUT THESE WERE THE GUYS WE WERE FIGHTING AND ‘DEFEATING’ SINCE 9/11.
I hate to be a Harry Reid ‘the war is lost’, but if this is winning, I’d hate to see losing. Guess what, now Obama can legitimately say something was ‘Bush’s fault’ because this was.
America gets ZERO strategic value in allying with Pakistan. NONE in the world, NONE in the region (actually it puts us in a box in the region as a natural enemy of India).
Sorry for writing so long. I know people don’t read long posts. But it’s funny now that we are asking India to remove their troops from the Kashmiri/Pakistani boarder because there isn’t supposed to be a Pakistani Kashmir. Pakistan has for DECADES said that they weren’t fighting IN Kashmir, but they supported the ‘will of the people for an independent state’ separate from India. They have ALWAYS denied direct involvement in a war in Kashmir. . . NOW our Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton is asking India to remove their troops from the India Kashmiri boarder so Pakistan can move its troops to fight the terrorists.
so now, according to OUR secretary of state (and other senators as well who have been fed this same line) Pakistan is ENTITLED to a state they have DENIED BEING INVOLVED WITH since they broke from India through a ‘war of independence’.
The inmates are ruling the assylum.
I love America, I am thankful to all the people here who read my stuff. . . but I don’t have a whole lot of hope for a competent military response with our most powerful military force in the history of the world. We’ll be too busy telling everyone how awful we are to keep people around the world from being awful. I can’t believe we apologize so much for being so awesome.

One more thought. The truth of the Taliban and Islam’s tenets is laid bare in these snuff videos. This isn’t the only one, nor is this the only place where these atrocities happen. A free press, interested in passing information to its interested public, would not ignore it.
OneEyedJack on April 26, 2009 at 9:01 PM
To his credit, Obama noted Pakistan’s importance. Then he got all the solutions wrong.
Start with his inane — but touchingly American — statement that “the people of Pakistan want the same things we want.” Oh, really?
How many readers think Sharia law would be a good idea? How about beating the crap out of women just for yuks? Or stoning them to death because they smiled at the wrong time? And let’s ban alcohol, bare arms, dating and jobs for women. And grow those beards, fellas!
Yeah, we’re tight. We’re such good buds that, while the Pakistanis protect the worst elements within the Taliban, manipulate our key supply line and pander to terrorists, Obama wants to guarantee Pakistan’s stunningly corrupt politicians $1.5 billion in aid every year. Plus military aid.
Why on earth should the Pakistanis help us when we reward them lavishly for screwing us?
And since it’s still our policy to punish those who aid terrorists, we need to punish ourselves. We bear a portion of the responsibility for every Pakistan-backed terror attack on India. Why? Because the Pakistanis know that, no matter how brutal the deeds of their terrorist auxiliaries, we’ll step in to “mediate” and prevent the Indians from retaliating.
Want a truly fresh strategy that would work? End all support of any kind to Pakistan. Close our embassy. Do what makes military sense and reduce our forces in Afghanistan to a level that can be supplied by air. And concentrate on destroying al Qaeda, not on “owning” village X. (Obama’s approach just stinks of Vietnam.)
Imagine how different the situation would be if we weren’t Pakistan’s strategic prisoner and didn’t stand between Islamabad and Delhi. What if the Pakistanis had to behave responsibly and stop sponsoring terror attacks against India — or face India’s wrath? Nuclear war? Pakistan would vanish, India would lick its wounds. And the Pakistanis know it.

I have a simple suggestion for our Secretary of State. She’s a New Yorker, they (Bill) have an office in New York. Hillary needs to take a day in New York and a 100 dollar bill. She needs to find one of those shell games on the streets of New York. When she finds these people playing their game, she needs to stand there and watch them for about 2 hours. If she thinks she knows where the ball is, she should put that 100 dollars down so she can double it.
I believe that this exercise might finally get her to understand what is going on in Pakistan. Here’s a hint, there’s a team. The guy switching the cups around has a partner who gambles and wins some and loses some. The Taliban’s partner is the PAKISTANI GOVERNMENT.
Please Ms. New Yorker Clinton. I beg you to learn what you need to know when dealing with Pakistan. I wish we would stop giving them money. . . we get nothing for it but a knife in the back.
It’s funny how they say we don’t get anything from waterboarding terrorists, but somehow we are getting something for BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to Pakistan.

Given the situation in Pakistan right now, try to think what India may be going through. Taliban with nukes does not in any shape or form bode well for the world’s largest democracy. One thing that I find hard to comprehend is: why China is silent in all of this. Previously, specially wrt Kashmir, they have tried to work with Pakistan (sharing the spoils of the land India gave up). I am not sure why they think a Pakistan overrun by Taliban can be of any advantage for their soaring economy.

A UN outside of the UN? Counter-productive.
What is needed instead is a concerted effort to fix the problems of this UN. One thing we need to do is not be “bigger” than every other nation in the UN. The “Security Council” set the precedent that only the “big boys” matter. Hence, when we step back we hardly ever are able to garner support. Add to the fact that the Council usually consists of Western Powers, China, and the Soviet Union. From that point it isn’t a mystery why the UN is a joke.
If every country has an equal voice, period, then the UN is much more viable.

For better or for worse as bad as Bush’s invasion of Iraq was we could have used the line of thought on Afghanistan and we would have been golden.
If Bush would have stuck in Afghanistan and built it into the middle Eastern version of Japan these problems would have been wiped out. Once the modern version of Afghanistan was completed and everyone in the immediate area saw the progress that a truly westernized version of Afghanistan come to light all of the other countries would have immediately started to erode from within.

Actually, it’s not that simple.
(1) There is hardly any overlap between the products sold between India (primarily software and IT provider + some R&D in VLSI) and China (manufacturer of cheap goods).
(2) India is a large market for the Chinese as far as cheap manufactured goods is concerned. I have been to India recently for business reasons, and I could not believe how much their new supermarkets have been flooded by “Made in China” products.
So, I would not quite buy that argument…

Talk about faulty logic… A good 90% of Afghan villagers are illiterate.. Women die at childbirth at a rate of about 1,600/ 100,000 live births. The infant mortality rate is the second highest in the world. Most remote villages don’t have access to health care. Most of the country relies on UN food aid to survive. The country is landlocked and doesn’t have any major natural resources (i.e. oil). How is such a country going to become Japan in five years? At least Iraq has an educated middle class and a major source of natural wealth.

Nice friends you have there Mr. Obama.

What, no national debate on torture in Pakistan? I thought the video would show them sitting down and discussing the finer points of international law… /sarcoff
We have these extremists living in the US too…and we are wasting time worrying about waterboarding, playing loud music, and keeping the lights on.
WAKE UP!

This is the world getalife should experience before making such pratt-ish remarks.

Liberals are under the delusion that one can pick up a turd by the clean end

You’re reaching.
Two can play at this game, dipsh**.

I blame their lack of strict gun laws on this. This sort of violence wouldn’t happen if they had an assault weapons ban.

As a former un peacekeeper. All I can say is you have to be kidding.

These are the moderate taliban clinton and obama love.

I’m not endorsing adultry, but shooting them in the back is a little harsh. By the way for all of you lefties who are afraid to get someone’s hair wet, shooting an unarmed person in the back when they’re running away is against the Geneva Convention. Otherwise, they call it murder. Religion of peace MY SWEET ASS!!!

Sharia law coming soon to a city near you in Minn. Think your new senator will stop it? The least they could have done was put one between the eyes. I wouldn’t shoot a dog like that, but don’t think these guys can shoot that good. If this is an example of international law, they can keep it.

You have a point. I assume you felt this way about Rwanda in the 1990s, too. Right?

IF YOU’RE GOING TO DRIVE THE TOUR BUS THROUGH THE BOWELS OF HELL, PLEASE DON’T PAINT THE WINDOWS BLACK. ALLOW THE WORLD TO WITNESS THE SAVAGERY THAT PASSES FOR “CIVILIZATION” IN THESE ISLAMIC CESSPITS. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THESE PEOPLE HAVE PLANNED FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD, AND YES, THAT INCLUDES YOUR TOWN, YOUR STATE, AND YOUR NATION.
PS— Where are all of the liberal trolls? Are THEY leading the protests over this barbarianism? Or are they simply pissing themselves that someone might actually mention the name of Jesus the Christ in public? TROLL CAUTION ADVISORY: Christian believers and the Bible are what stand between YOUR sorry asses and your life in an identical Islamic paradise.

All too true, but the larger problem with surrendering Pakistan lies in the possibilities this stuff creates.

Imagine nukes in the hands of people who act as the above video shows they do. Sadly, this is the future we were warned of.
