Video: New queen of the GOP won’t say which party she belongs to
posted at 1:05 pm on April 25, 2009 by Allahpundit
Please. She’s Christian, supports traditional marriage, and opposes government handouts. If that’s not a Sarah Palin fan, I don’t know what is. You’re a Republican, gorgeous; own it. Even goofier is Obama mega-shill Roland Martin claiming to be a down-the-middle non-ideological independent. But don’t hit him too hard for that in the comments: He defended her on CNN.com this week while the rest of the left was piling on.
Judging by the number of “you know whats” she drops in this clip, I’d say she’s perilously close to developing a Caroline Kennedy-esque verbal tic. Intervention time? Elsewhere, Patterico flags a glamour shot of her giving a come-hither look while showing off her derriere and wonders if there isn’t some religious injunction against that sort of thing. Good question. Maybe she’s simply trying to prove the existence of God? After closely examining the photo, I concede that the evidence is compelling.

This point isn’t valid anyway. If Obama were a private citizen he would have supported Rosa Parks. But Presidents didn’t really start advocating civil rights until there was significant public support behind them. This validates my point.
crr6 on April 25, 2009 at 2:14 PM
If Obama took that position, he would alienate a good share of the nearly 100% black vote he won. Black people are not buying that comparison at all.
capitalist piglet on April 25, 2009 at 2:14 PM
Vapid airheads belong in the Romney camp??
Uh, Hey promachus, who do you think is more intelligent, Romney or Palin??
You must be dumb dude but you cant bum me out today….I just got FLOOR SEATS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE STAGE for AC/DC when they play in Anaheim.
So, suck on that one.
The Wall on April 25, 2009 at 2:15 PM
She should have invoked Obama’s name when she answered the question. It would have given her cover from the attack she suffered afterwards.
capitalist piglet on April 25, 2009 at 2:16 PM
Yes, it does validate your point. Obama is a coward. You win.
Based on your insightful comments, I no longer think of him as leader, but a follower.
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 2:17 PM
Yes, he is a really courageous man.
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 2:17 PM
Woahhh we agree on something.
When i referred to people being indifferent to it, I mostly meant libertarians. You can find many of them on this blog.
I still don’t understand why you are so shocked at a politician playing politics. This doesn’t make you a “political hack”, and if anything it means you care more about the issue because you’re smart enough not to sabotage it.
crr6 on April 25, 2009 at 2:18 PM
And you are right. ccr6 has shown here that the left doesn’t believe in the comparison either. They just use it for it’s rhetorical power.
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 2:18 PM
I am not shocked. He hasn’t shown conviction on issues that matter. I’m more interested in the tacit acknowledgment from the left that he is a construction. Not a leader, unwilling to take an unpopular position, and willing to lie to maintain personal popularity. I’m not a person to ascribe labels, but that sounds rather like a narcissist to me.
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 2:21 PM
Janeane Garofalo comes 2 mind.

I’d go with James Buchanan for that–Andrew Jackson referred to Buchanan and his male companion as “Miss Nancy and Aunt Fancy”.

Understood. Full credit to you personally regarding the comparison.

Can we stop caring about the political affiliations of actors, singers, directors, comedians, beauty pageant contestants, dimwit daughters, cartoon characters, Star Wars characters, plumbers and pet dogs? Are there no philosophers anymore, only celebrities?

Bizarro No. 1 on April 25, 2009 at 2:38 PM
Did you consider he’s not really defending her but really defending Obama, as Obama’s comment on gay marriage was virtually word for word the same as the 2nd place beauty lady? That would fit in well with him being an Obama shill.
Paul-Cincy on April 25, 2009 at 2:39 PM
While I believe that gays should be allowed to marry, I don’t see how anybody can compare gay marriage to civil rights. Gays are discriminated against in one avenue of life. Blacks were discriminated against in all walks of life. Big difference.

Took me a while, but I figured out who this pig reminds me of.
Jaibones on April 25, 2009 at 2:43 PM
There are big differences, but in both cases the laws worked against each group. For gay people they could be arrested for having sex or gathering in groups just a few decades ago.
dedalus on April 25, 2009 at 2:48 PM
Probably because he, like the majority of blacks, like the majority of Americans, like Miss California, believe marriage is between a man and a woman.

Captain America on April 25, 2009 at 3:13 PM
As shocking as this might seem to all the ‘flavor of the week’ type people out there….
I don’t really care if she’s democrap, republican, or independent. These days the key isn’t so much the party as much as where you are on the scale ranging from libtard on over to religious right wingnut.
She seems conservative enough, but I always have a problem with people that inject too much religiosity into their political viewpoint. There’s room for it, yes, but only in so far as your religious background is the foundation of your morality, not that christian politicians are best or any such thing. That’s no better than having a god hating anti moralist as president pretending to be christian.
Anyway, I’m getting sick of the trend here, every time someone comes to the public eye with a solidly conservative view they get labeled as ‘the new republican king/queen’. I’m bored and nauseated by that now. Lets try highlighting where all the common points are amongst ALL conservatives and try to get that common sense drilled into the republican party so it can draw more general support and stop highlighting single individuals. The more you scrutinize an individual and hold them up as a party standard, the more dangerous and destructive it is when negative things about that one person come to light. The whole conservative movement gets branded with that one persons negatives.
This is one reason why I’ve stayed away from the republican party. I’m never going to vote for a liberal or democrap, but I’m independent and that’s not looking like it’s going to change any time soon based on the republican’s behavior. Why can’t they learn?

BillaryMcBush on April 25, 2009 at 3:58 PM

Oppression is oppression.

I hope she say’s “I voted for Obama”. It might force the media to finally admit Obama’s stance on Gay Marriage.
marklmail on April 25, 2009 at 4:09 PM
Maybe you’re the bigot. You obviously can’t acknowledge that black people suffered atrocities far worse than not being able to get “married”, and being given the choice of legally identical civil unions instead.
Oh, the horror. Spare me.
capitalist piglet on April 25, 2009 at 4:11 PM
If gays feel oppressed it is because their lifestyle is behavior based rather than race based. Not the same.

But again, i ask you why equal rights for one group but not for all? I personally don’t care i think the human race is an infestation on the planet. But since you seem so concerned about civil rights, how come your concern stops when it involves

Oh i think there are plenty of homosexual scholars who will be happy to educate you on the attrocities they faced throughout history and still do today…you do know there was a whole group of those gays who had to wear pink triangles on their arms on the way to the ovens along with the jews right? You do know that they hang you in iran for being gay…go watch the videos…i would say there are plenty of examples that you choose to ignore because it suites your purpose, just like denying the holocaust suits the islamic extremists purpose.

The victim cards are flying today on Hot Air. Let’s rise above that stuff guys.
Dr. Manhattan on April 25, 2009 at 4:44 PM
I am not a defender of the ghetto culture. Again, that is behavior based. I am talking about discrimination purely on the basis of race as opposed to behavior. It is not the same.
Rose on April 25, 2009 at 4:47 PM
You know what, r4l? Yeah…she has the chick cooties. Eww.
And you know what, Jailbones? Yeah, she’s a doll. As long as she doesn’t, you know, talk.
JetBoy on April 25, 2009 at 4:50 PM
Discrimination is discrimination. Its no different if you get denied a promotion, housing, a job, because you are black versus because you are a female or because you are gay or a jew.
Honestly Rose, do you think the Ovens cares what color meat they were cooking in germany or if the meat was straight of gay?
BillaryMcBush on April 25, 2009 at 4:50 PM
I am talking about civil rights vs. gay marriage. They are not the same. What the Germans did was horrific. But denying gays the right to marriage is not even comparable.
Rose on April 25, 2009 at 4:52 PM
No you specifically said:
But ok, lets play that way. Lets deny blacks the right to get married, we can offer them civil unions too. That work for you? after all marriage is not a civil right issue according to your new definition.
BillaryMcBush on April 25, 2009 at 5:06 PM

ousoonerfan15 on April 25, 2009 at 5:09 PM
let me just say that personally i think marriage should be fully removed from the legal lexicon and all unions should be considered civil unions. Lets put marriage where it belongs, as a religious commitment and leave it up to the churches to be responsible for it.
You willing to give up your right to be legally married and change it to civil union?

For most of Western history it was either that way or simply a contract between families.
dedalus on April 25, 2009 at 5:13 PM
she aint no democrat. Dems dont oppose government handouts and stimulus bills. She said she does.
ousoonerfan15 on April 25, 2009 at 5:14 PM
But the gays are comparing the struggle of blacks with the struggle of gays trying to get marriage. In the United States blacks have had a long history of discrimination because of their race. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Race has noting to do with it.
Rose on April 25, 2009 at 5:15 PM
Denying blacks the right to sit up front on a bus is not comparable to cooking a homo in an oven either or hanging them or stoning them, or picking one up and beating him and tieing him to a fence post and leaving him out in the winter for 3 days till he dies like they did to mathew sheppard in the past few years here in this country.
You see i can do the same thing by cherry picking.
The marriage issue extends beyond being able to wear a dress in church without shaving your mustache (no offense lithuanian women but i am referring to guys here). It extends to hopsital visitation insurance inheritance community property all from the marriage right.
btw don’t you find it funny that civil rights and civil union share the same word?
Discrimination is discrimination no matter how you color it.
BillaryMcBush on April 25, 2009 at 5:16 PM
No, YOU are trying to equate all the suffering that blacks went through over 400+ years here to one issue for gays – the marriage rights issue…
…not the gays.
Lets face it your homophobia prevents you from veiwing them as people with the right to the same rights as anyone else.
BillaryMcBush on April 25, 2009 at 5:18 PM
Carrie Prejean on Hannity a few days ago: “Me and my dad watch your show everynight.” Come on, she’s one of us; she’s a conservative. Do you blame her for not saying she’s a Republican? First of all, most of us here aren’t happy with the R party either, why should she be. Second, she’s been adamant about staying on topic about her answer about gay marriage, nothing else. Just because she doesn’t answer and says her and Obama have the same opinion on gay marriage changes nothing.

My guess Conservative 1st, Republican 2nd. Like a lot of us these days.
She told Sean Hannity, “my dad and I watch your show every night.”

BillaryMcBush on April 25, 2009 at 5:35 PM

Guess who wrote this?
“Obama soared to victory on the hopeful promise of a new era of bipartisanship. During his inaugural address he even promised an ‘end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.’
“Too bad it took all of three days for the promise to ring hollow.
“Start with Obama’s big meeting with top congressional leaders on his signature legislation — the stimulus — on the Friday after his inauguration. Listening to Republican concerns about overspending was a nice gesture — until he shut down any hopes of real dialogue by crassly telling Republican leaders: ‘I won.’ Even the White House’s leaking of the comment was a slap at the Republican leadership, who’d expected Obama to adhere to the custom of keeping private meetings with congressional leadership, well, private.
“It’s only gone downhill from there. The stimulus included zero Republican recommendations, and failed to get a single House Republican vote.
“It’s not just the tactic of using Republicans for bipartisan photo-ops, and then cutting them loose before partisan decisions, that irks Obama’s opponents. The new president wasted no time rushing forward with policies and legislation guaranteed to drive Republicans nuts. The first bill he signed into law was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act — a partisan hot-button that drew all of eight Republican supporters in the entire Congress. Then there was the swift reversal of Bush policies on abortion and embryonic-stem-cell research — issues dear to the Republican base.
“And when Obama and the Democrats in Congress took up SCHIP — the children’s health-insurance bill that Republicans say vastly expands government’s role in health care — they had an easy chance for real bipartisanship. After all, the bill had been hashed out in the previous Congress, and a bipartisan accord was reached before President Bush responded with a veto. Did the Obama team push for the compromise version in the 111th Congress? Nope. They went back to the drawing board, ramming through the Democrats’ dream version.
“Of course, the lack of bipartisanship isn’t limited to Capitol Hill. Obama has taken gratuitous swipes at the Republicans who recently decamped Washington, blaming President Bush for everything from the economy and the war to the lack of sufficient puppies and rainbows. And who could forget the Rush Limbaugh flap — in which Obama’s top advisers, including chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, orchestrated a public relations campaign meant to undermine the Republican National Committee chairman, Michael Steele, by framing talk-radio personality Limbaugh as the real head of the Republican Party.
“For now, Obama’s back-pedal on the bipartisanship promise just makes him look insincere. But the real consequences of the mistake will be felt soon enough. As Presidents Bush and Clinton could tell him, congressional majorities do change — and at some point, Obama will need Republicans on his side. He’d be smart to spend his second 100 days making up for the serious snubs of his first.”

Well,I like her, especially in this political climate!
She knows she’s being ambushed, and she knows the CNN
infoDude is trying to set up her answer!
I’ve said it before,Republicans have to stop being set-up
for the Lefty soundbites!
Unfortunately, the Right have to hear the question, evalute
which way the Lefty is trying to set them up,and answer
accordingly!
And of course, thats if the Republican isn’t hit with more
idiot questions while he or she is still in the process of
answering!

shomegirl, thanks alot for that. Only Sarah Palin could take Obama to task like that. I am glad she wrote a small article for that large piece in the post. Glad to see she is still doing this.

Who knows? Being well-heeled and going to better schools doesn’t make one more intelligent. Who do you think was more intelligent, Lincoln or McClellan?
