Video: New queen of the GOP won’t say which party she belongs to
posted at 1:05 pm on April 25, 2009 by Allahpundit
Please. She’s Christian, supports traditional marriage, and opposes government handouts. If that’s not a Sarah Palin fan, I don’t know what is. You’re a Republican, gorgeous; own it. Even goofier is Obama mega-shill Roland Martin claiming to be a down-the-middle non-ideological independent. But don’t hit him too hard for that in the comments: He defended her on CNN.com this week while the rest of the left was piling on.
Judging by the number of “you know whats” she drops in this clip, I’d say she’s perilously close to developing a Caroline Kennedy-esque verbal tic. Intervention time? Elsewhere, Patterico flags a glamour shot of her giving a come-hither look while showing off her derriere and wonders if there isn’t some religious injunction against that sort of thing. Good question. Maybe she’s simply trying to prove the existence of God? After closely examining the photo, I concede that the evidence is compelling.

After thousands of responses to AP’s religious topics trying to convince him that God exists, all it took was a little Miss Cali showing off her scrumptious behind.
V15J on April 25, 2009 at 1:12 PM
AP,
This is the third time you have seen God. But who’s counting.
Sweetness0726 on April 25, 2009 at 1:12 PM
You know what? She’s only a peg higher on the intelligence scale than Miss Teen South Carolina.
Please…don’t let this one be the face of the GOP.
I’d like to win an election or two.
JetBoy on April 25, 2009 at 1:13 PM
Smart answer. Dude says he is “his own person” as if it were an affront to think otherwise, while wondering if he can just pidgeon-hole (and thus dismiss) her opinion.
Burning question. Let me see, the right answer is: Hypocrisy!!!1!eleventy!!1!. Burn her at the stake, I think. You’re welcome.
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 1:14 PM
You come to my site and insult my future wife?
You’re on very thin ice, very thin ice, very thin ice…
Allahpundit on April 25, 2009 at 1:15 PM
I am mostly conservative and a registered Independent. Isn’t that part of the Tea Party rage? That Republicans are failing us, too?
John the Libertarian on April 25, 2009 at 1:15 PM
Dude. Them’s fighting words. (Also ridiculous).
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 1:15 PM
Nice riff on autotune the news…
John the Libertarian on April 25, 2009 at 1:15 PM
I don’t blame her, really. She has taken so much crap and it’s obvious she’s a Republican (to me, anyway).
Fuzzlenutter on April 25, 2009 at 1:16 PM
JetBoy on April 25, 2009 at 1:13 PM
She’s unintelligent because she won’t support gay marriage?
A little narrow-minded there, aren’t we, JB?

Libertarian? The video was disappointing though.

It is nobody freakin’ business who she voted for in November (if she voted). It’s called a secret ballot.
terryannonline on April 25, 2009 at 1:22 PM
I was kinda hoping she was a libertine…that’s a party I’d like to attend. :-)
coldwarrior on April 25, 2009 at 1:23 PM
She should change the line “You know what” for “Let me clarify this, as i always have said” .
the_nile on April 25, 2009 at 1:23 PM
Good for her, there are enough people out there trying to put labels on others. She’s a smart articulate woman who will alway speak and voter her convictions. She is what the world needs more of, unlike that moron Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr.
Tommy_G on April 25, 2009 at 1:23 PM
Oh, I’m tellin’ KP…
But hey, She’s a beauty!

She’s a liberal, if she becomes the gop queen then i’m outta here
Defector01 on April 25, 2009 at 1:23 PM
Er, what if she won’t marry an atheist?
terryannonline on April 25, 2009 at 1:25 PM
Yes, this is a problem for many Christian girls, as I’m learning.
Allahpundit on April 25, 2009 at 1:27 PM
Doesn’t matter. Some of my friends believe that too but voted for Obama because they felt he would be a better help to the poor people of the world. They tended to forget that Obama wasn’t even helpful to his own aunt and brother, but you know, they voted for the guy anyway.
deidre on April 25, 2009 at 1:28 PM
“I think she’s an independent thinker and perhaps her opinion will change over time”
When she matures and grows and open her mind she will see things correctly…
These people are insufferable!
katy on April 25, 2009 at 1:28 PM
AP,
You don’t have to be Repub to be Christian, support traditional marriage, and oppose government handouts. Nice try, though.
Christien on April 25, 2009 at 1:29 PM
Are you sure that isn’t just the 2K version of “I can’t, I’m busy washing my hair” :)

Not in future USA , where sharia rules.
the_nile on April 25, 2009 at 1:33 PM
C’mon…You know what? I didn’t say that.
But, you know what? Just listen to her…she’s no MENSA candidate. But then, these pageants aren’t really about brains.
The GOP is in such disarray, the last thing we need is this…THIS…to be out in front as a party rep.

One act of decency = down-the-middle non-ideological independent
maverick muse on April 25, 2009 at 1:34 PM
She is likely pursuing a career in media so claiming to be non-partisan keeps the most options open. For those opposed to gay marriage it is probably better if she continually points out that her position mirrors the Democratic president and vice president.
dedalus on April 25, 2009 at 1:34 PM
heh… I honestly think she could be a communist and Allah could wrap his mind around it.
Hog Wild on April 25, 2009 at 1:34 PM
Agreed. She is not the most articulate person. She wasn’t even answering the anchor’s questions.
terryannonline on April 25, 2009 at 1:35 PM
The point of this video is that she isn’t putting herself out as a party rep. But hey don’t let that stop you from slamming her.
We both know what we really need is a blonde to lead the party who has a gay hairdresser.
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 1:35 PM
I don’t think a 21 year old beauty queen would interested in a late 30ish dork. :)
Christina_M on April 25, 2009 at 1:35 PM
Just to be clear, anyone who thinks Obama is actually anti-gay marriage is a fool. Obama and this ditz do not share the same opinion.
crr6 on April 25, 2009 at 1:35 PM
lol @ journalists. She implied the questions weren’t appropriate. So yeah, she didn’t answer them. That makes her inarticulate? Hardly.
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 1:36 PM
Ouch! That was a low blow.

I wouldn’t admit to being a Republican either right now now. Assuming, of course, that I were a Republican…
I bet she likes Glenn Beck though.
ornery_independent on April 25, 2009 at 1:37 PM
Oh, but it was how she wasn’t answering the questions. That and the glamour shots. Oh, never mind…. :-)
coldwarrior on April 25, 2009 at 1:38 PM
That’s all well and good. However, there are more articulate responses then “This is about me…”
terryannonline on April 25, 2009 at 1:38 PM
Astounding. She is probably one of the handful of people in this world to understand that expertise in one field and celebrity status do not make one an expert in a different field. Try telling this to George Clooney, Bill Maher and Deepak Chopra.
hailsriram on April 25, 2009 at 1:39 PM
For 21 she deflected the the gotcha questions better than most pols. She’s right…. she not a pol. and the questions were leading. They wanted to nail her and she took the helm and steered right out of it. And the zinger at the end was brilliant when she turned the what party question around to him.
She’s good!!
I give you Prejean and McCain….. not even close!

I think you are onto something Allah, If that photo does not make you believe in a supreme being, nothing will.

He’s a politician. Are you really this naive?
crr6 on April 25, 2009 at 1:43 PM

ninjapirate on April 25, 2009 at 1:43 PM
I don’t consider myself a Republican right now either. But that’s because the party has sold out to the left.
OneGyT on April 25, 2009 at 1:43 PM
So both?
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 1:44 PM
Yes and Yes
conservnut on April 25, 2009 at 1:44 PM
Yes , she was a bit nervous so she looped the “you know what” , but else she was good.
the_nile on April 25, 2009 at 1:45 PM
It is possible that she opposes bailouts for a different reason than conservatives. There are actually four points of view. Conservatives tend to oppose the bailouts because they don’t want the government involved in private businesses. Whereas liberals tend to oppose bailouts because they loath Wall Street “fat cats”.
eaglescout1998 on April 25, 2009 at 1:45 PM
loath = loathe
eaglescout1998 on April 25, 2009 at 1:46 PM
Still, siblings can be pretty different politically. For example, my brother canvassed for Obama. True story.
OneGyT on April 25, 2009 at 1:46 PM
We know he’s a liar , but no one targets him for this gay rights thing like they do with this girl.
the_nile on April 25, 2009 at 1:47 PM
Don’t make it seem like I’m trying to belittle her. I’m not. She seems like a very sweet person. I know if I were to ever get on television I would probably sound like a bumbling idiot myself. I was just agreeing with JetBoy that beauty pageants generally aren’t looking for smarts but beauty. I think that is something we can all agree on, no?
terryannonline on April 25, 2009 at 1:48 PM
AllahPundit,
Then I guess you dont know what a Sarah Palin fan is. I am all those things and I sure in hell am not a Sarah Palin fan. I am all those things AND intelligent, thus my aversion to Goddess Palin.
Cmon dude….think this stuff through.
The Wall on April 25, 2009 at 1:49 PM
To those people saying the republican party brand is dead… have you read the comment sections here? You are the brand and some of you people are repulsive… but allah won’t use the banhammer because he wants to make money… it’s sad sad cycle… I wish he would mod it more like gawker… the comments sections add value there, they kill value here…
ninjapirate on April 25, 2009 at 1:49 PM
The fact that she keeps saying:
“you know what? you know what? you know what”
maybe she is a palin fan after all.
The Wall on April 25, 2009 at 1:50 PM
So you really are this naive?
Coming out in support of gay marriage now would do little to nothing to further the cause. Public opinion is still against it, and making it an issue on the national stage would probably only galvanize opposition. In 10-15 years the majority of the country will support it. Then will be the time for action. It’s called playing politics. For what it’s worth I seriously doubt Bush cared about gay marriage either. He was playing politics as well.
crr6 on April 25, 2009 at 1:50 PM
Then is Obama a liar or a coward?
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 1:36 PM
He’s a lying coward. :D
capejasmine on April 25, 2009 at 1:52 PM
Roland is just supporting BO’s position on same sex marriage nothing more!
d1carter on April 25, 2009 at 1:52 PM
So instead of using his considerable cache to further the issue, he reveals himself a coward and a liar. Fine, I accept that. He is who he is.
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 1:53 PM
He was playing politics as well.
crr6 on April 25, 2009 at 1:50 PM
And that somehow justifies hiding your true belief and valuessystem.
In his mind it must. It got him elected.
kingsjester on April 25, 2009 at 1:53 PM
I get this vision of you jumping from a bridge November 5 2012 screaming “What’s the frequency Romney”.
the_nile on April 25, 2009 at 1:54 PM
Most likely, she’s Republican but smart enough to refuse to answer the question. The “Republican” “Christian” “Opposes Gay Marriage” theme is pretty strong in SoCal, and opens one up to attack as she is demonstrating.
As to the photos, it’s not what I would encourage my daughter to do. I’ll be really surprised if she goes too far over the line (Playboy, skin flicks etc.) I’m not going to question her faith over a somewhat provocative photo.
She’s in the public eye because of a beauty pageant. That photo and similar ones are consistent with the pageant/modeling context.

Like Barack Obama, one must have an open mind and be willing to change (on command) over time.–CNN

“That’s a bogus question.”–Mona Lisa Vito
maverick muse on April 25, 2009 at 1:57 PM
Fine, if that’s your position. I mistakenly, apparently, misinterpreted you saying “I agree” to mean that you agreed with what you quoted.
I’m happy to accept you think she’s a sweet person.
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 1:57 PM
Do you honestly believe that if Obama made gay-marriage a primary issue on the agenda it would really “further the issue”? He would simply energize people like you, and for now you would have the polls on your side. Give it a few years.
crr6 on April 25, 2009 at 1:57 PM
She’s a good-looking vapid airhead. I am thinking she belongs to Romney camp.
promachus on April 25, 2009 at 1:58 PM
Obama never fooled me. But moving along, when is he finally going to come out of the closest? If he’s not gay, he’s certainly our most effeminate president evah.
BuckeyeSam on April 25, 2009 at 1:59 PM
crr6 is the epitome of what is wrong with politics. No honesty, no morals, no principles. Anything to win….except waterboarding.

Mister Ghost on April 25, 2009 at 2:01 PM
You are changing the question. I didn’t say he make it a primary issue.
I asked if he lied about it. According to you he did. I asked if he was a coward about it. According to you he is. Ironic, isn’t it, that Tom Hanks has more balls then Obama.
He does have popularity, he’s managed to get considerable support for his economic plan among the populace by using nothing more then his personal cache on the late-night talk shows, etc. He ran from this issue.
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 2:01 PM
Is it just me, or does Miss California actually seem smarter than the CNN reporter? What a world…
DarkCurrent on April 25, 2009 at 2:02 PM
haha yeah. I was waiting for the obligatory endorsement of torture at the end of your lecture on “morals and principles”.
crr6 on April 25, 2009 at 2:02 PM
He’s certainly a liar. But I think it’s unfair to call him a coward. He’s not afraid to come out and lie every day, is he?
gh on April 25, 2009 at 2:04 PM
This is the best part. If Obama were on the bus with Rosa Parks, he would have said ‘sit down, give it a few years for the polls.’
Courage.
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 2:04 PM
Heh gh, point taken.
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 2:04 PM
That’s you crr6. Not an honest bone in your body. My morality is not killing little babies and I am principled enough to believe that US citizens come before the comfort of terroist.
You would too if you were interested in what is right for this country instead of winning elections.
Vince on April 25, 2009 at 2:06 PM
So Obama is a liar instead. Can’t argue with that.
capitalist piglet on April 25, 2009 at 2:06 PM
Tom Hanks isn’t president. It’s a lot easier to “stand on your principles” when you don’t have to govern. Being pragmatic does not mean you are a liar and a coward. It’s simply smart politics.
Anyway, yeah I see your point on the economic plan, I just think that the gay-marriage issue is particularly volatile, plus it’s an issue where the opposition is much much more energized than those supporting it. People who support gay-marriage usually do so out of indifference, whereas people who oppose it do because they believe it’s fundamentally wrong. With an incendiary issue like that it’s better to pursue it when you at least have the polls on your side.
crr6 on April 25, 2009 at 2:06 PM
Don’t you guys always freak out when we compare the gay-rights movement to the civil rights movement?
crr6 on April 25, 2009 at 2:08 PM
Lol, brilliant play off of the autotune thread.
nickj116 on April 25, 2009 at 2:08 PM
I’m a Christian, and I don’t have an issue with the glamour shot. The bikini she wore in the pageant isn’t a problem, right? Is she supposed to dress like a character from “Big Love”?
capitalist piglet on April 25, 2009 at 2:10 PM
I know several black people who hate that, for obvious reasons. Are gay people using separate lunch counters, restrooms and water fountains, and I just missed it?
What an absurd comparison. Give us a break.
capitalist piglet on April 25, 2009 at 2:12 PM
This actually isn’t true. Moreover we have been fed the idea that Obama is willing to tell the hard truths (for example LAT actually wrote this headline: Obama mixes optimism and hard truths). You can’t your cake and eat it too; either O is another political hack or he is a principled person. The cache he enjoys is because people think he is transcendental and principled. But you are assuring us that he is just another political hack who games the populace.
What this says to me is that the left doesn’t believe that gay marriage is a civil rights issue. If it were, Obama would not be a coward on it. What that means, is that they 1) they insult the actual civil rights movement, and 2) they cannot be trusted on language concerning morality.
Spirit of 1776 on April 25, 2009 at 2:12 PM
I think education is more of a civil rights issue then gay marriage.
Regardless, I’m talking about what Obama thinks, not me.
