The obligatory “Palin launches legal defense fund” post

In which I try to earn cheap brownie points with the readers who hate me because they’re convinced I hate her by dumping some Hot Air traffic into her donation box. Her legal bills stand north of $500,000 with more coming; the maximum allowable contribution at the site is $150. Figuring an average donation of $20, and assuming that she does the smart thing by calling in to Rush’s show on Monday to put out the word, I figure she’ll be fully paid up by, oh, say, before the show’s over. But let’s poll it. Assume, for predictive purposes, that she doesn’t call in.

In other Sarahcuda news, she parted ways with her DC-based fundraising consultant today in “the latest sign of a divide between the governor’s official Alaska staff and those advising her on the national level.” Cutting loose a tie to the Beltway? I don’t know if this 2012 thing is happening, kids.

I think the average donation will be approximately $148.75.

AP is like the father of a teenage daughter who refuses to allow the star robust high school QB to date his daughter, but once he learns that he suffered a season-ending knee injury decides he can now trust him for he would now be hampered by crutches and not mobile enough to carry her away and ravish her.

$150 sent.

Whether Gov. Palin runs for Prez in 2012 or not, whether she truly is the Deity’s gift to conservatives or not, whether you are a stalwart supporter or not, NO ONE deserves the petty, vicious, epic nastiness that she has been subjected to ever since she strode on to the stage at the RNC convention.

Unlike most of the Republican establishment, she’s NOT filthy rich, therefore these frivolous lawsuits present an unfair burden upon her and her family. Hence my donation.

Besides, every donation is a spit in the eye to the mean-spirited, lily-livered, spineless, ethically-challenged Democrats who are responsible for filing the idiotic complaints, and dang it, that’s just plain fun. :::evil grin:::

I just donated the max of $150.00. I don’t know if she has any intention of running for President and I would not blame her one bit if she said “no thanks” but I will always support her. She has been willing to put herself out there trying to lead by example with integrity and true conservative principles. She has been unfairly slandered denegrated and mocked because of her faith and her decency and her walking her walk and that cannot go unanswered or stand. God bless her.

CCRWM on April 24, 2009 at 8:15 PM

I, too donated $150.00 and plan on making a donation to SarahPAC as soon as I get paid.

I agree with CCRWM, she has been put through so much that as a fellow conservative woman I feel that I owe her my support no matter what she decides to do.

Point 1: I don’t believe the good Gov can call in to Rush Monday, because she’s not allowed to publicize the fund. I don’t know if that means only the Gov can’t or if nobody can, so maybe Kristan Cole will call. She called in to the local Eddie Burke show today, http://www.kbyr.com, so maybe she can. And will.

Point 2: The Gov doesn’t seem to be at all cowed by these intimidation shenanigans if this video from a Wednesday night speech on Kodiak Island is any indicator:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDMQY0terbc

Point 3: She visited the Kodiak Missile Defense base while there. Pix here: http://www.gov.state.ak.us.

Since North Korea seems to be a nuclear power now, this base is critical to U.S. national security.

Oh and btw, my sympathies are with you for having to live in a crumbling state with crippling taxes. Perhaps you should consider moving to Alaska, which is in pretty good shape financially right about now since its governor put $5 billion dollars in savings last year.

Run along and collect your check from Axelrod now.

23-hours of dark in winter. 23-hours of light in summer. Biting blood-thirsty flying insects the size of small trucks every summer? Snowmobiling to work 6-months of the year? Living with perpetually drunken Eskimo’s for neighbors the whole year? 50-100 miles to the nearest grocery store and gas station? Police response times an hour or more? Fire/Ambulance response times an hour and a half? And absolutely nothing to do, except for scrimshaw and lumberjack festivals, even in the ‘big city’ for the entire year? Yeah. No thanks there chief.

…good shape financially right about now since its governor put $5 billion dollars in savings last year.

hrh40 on April 24, 2009 at 9:03 PM

If not for the unique to Alaska oil pipeline from north of the arctic circle, the Governor would have nothing but swap-meets and quilting bees to run the state on.

Speedwagon82 on April 24, 2009 at 10:19 PM

shomgirl, some people will never change their mind about Palin. Others will not change their minds until she appears on various “talking head” shows (such as the Sunday morning talk shows)and shows a high level of competence on the issues. If she does run in ‘12, she’ll face a large group of competitors; they will debate one another probably a dozen times. If she goes toe-to-toe with the competition on the issues, people will change their minds.

I’m willing to do that.

Cutting loose a tie to the Beltway? I don’t know if this 2012 thing is happening, kids.

When that “tie” was a former consultant for McCain’s disastrous 2008 campaign, I’d say Sarah is definitely making moves to position herself for 2012. This consultant unfortunately was not making the grade so SarahPac is bringing in new people.

Better to make changes now than to wait too long like Hillary Clinton did when she ran. That was among the many nails in Hillary’s coffin – all her major staff shake-ups during the primaries.

sarahpalinfan99 on April 25, 2009 at 12:24 AM

Dumping Donatelli now is like Tiger Woods dumping Butch Harmon because they did not see eye to eye on philosophy, goals or results.

And remember we are still only 7 minutes into the first quarter of a 4 quarter football game in the terms of the next election cycle. If you are going to make changes this is the time to do it.

AnonymousDrivel on April 25, 2009 at 3:56 PM

Sarah writing today in the New York Post:

17. SARAH PALIN ON: “I WON” AND THE DEATH OF BIPARTISANSHIP

“Obama soared to victory on the hopeful promise of a new era of bipartisanship. During his inaugural address he even promised an ‘end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.’

“Too bad it took all of three days for the promise to ring hollow.

“Start with Obama’s big meeting with top congressional leaders on his signature legislation — the stimulus — on the Friday after his inauguration. Listening to Republican concerns about overspending was a nice gesture — until he shut down any hopes of real dialogue by crassly telling Republican leaders: ‘I won.’ Even the White House’s leaking of the comment was a slap at the Republican leadership, who’d expected Obama to adhere to the custom of keeping private meetings with congressional leadership, well, private.

“It’s only gone downhill from there. The stimulus included zero Republican recommendations, and failed to get a single House Republican vote.

“It’s not just the tactic of using Republicans for bipartisan photo-ops, and then cutting them loose before partisan decisions, that irks Obama’s opponents. The new president wasted no time rushing forward with policies and legislation guaranteed to drive Republicans nuts. The first bill he signed into law was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act — a partisan hot-button that drew all of eight Republican supporters in the entire Congress. Then there was the swift reversal of Bush policies on abortion and embryonic-stem-cell research — issues dear to the Republican base.

“And when Obama and the Democrats in Congress took up SCHIP — the children’s health-insurance bill that Republicans say vastly expands government’s role in health care — they had an easy chance for real bipartisanship. After all, the bill had been hashed out in the previous Congress, and a bipartisan accord was reached before President Bush responded with a veto. Did the Obama team push for the compromise version in the 111th Congress? Nope. They went back to the drawing board, ramming through the Democrats’ dream version.

“Of course, the lack of bipartisanship isn’t limited to Capitol Hill. Obama has taken gratuitous swipes at the Republicans who recently decamped Washington, blaming President Bush for everything from the economy and the war to the lack of sufficient puppies and rainbows. And who could forget the Rush Limbaugh flap — in which Obama’s top advisers, including chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, orchestrated a public relations campaign meant to undermine the Republican National Committee chairman, Michael Steele, by framing talk-radio personality Limbaugh as the real head of the Republican Party.

“For now, Obama’s back-pedal on the bipartisanship promise just makes him look insincere. But the real consequences of the mistake will be felt soon enough. As Presidents Bush and Clinton could tell him, congressional majorities do change — and at some point, Obama will need Republicans on his side. He’d be smart to spend his second 100 days making up for the serious snubs of his first.”
