Now, when The One’s policies result in disaster (as many experts are predicting) and his approvals start tanking, then you’ll have calls for “impeachment” coming out from the woodwork!

To me, the most common sense comments on this issue came from past CIA director Porter Goss:

“We can’t have a secret intelligence service if we keep giving away all the secrets.”

It’s just like Pirates…do you really think people will go oh my gosh its the US we had better go to the negotiation table now.

These are bad people and there is only one way to deal with them…come at them endlessly and harder than they could imagine. And don’t shock and leave…like Colinoscopy likes.

In Iraq, people have kind of figured out who the bad guys were and felt empowered by our presence to take steps.

In Afghanistan, we have our coalition there to wheel and deal and scare the shit out of the locals. They know, like the UN they could give a rats about them so THEY are continuing to try and find the best deal when the shit hits the fan.

There hasn’t been an awakening. I think we were/are better off by ourselves.

I’m not disagreeing with you. The “abuse” at Abu Ghraib was essentially college hazing pranks by comparison to what went on there before under Saddam. IIRC from Michael Yon’s book, those photos were used as a propaganda tool by AQI and did in fact hurt the reputation of our forces and were used to gain recruits for AQI. The photos of course weren’t the cause of the violence but they were used as an excuse.

Maybe if we didn’t abuse prisoners, there wouldn’t be any photos.

So don’t start blaming Obama (this website should re-name itself Blame Obama First) for something the Bush administration ordered.

The Bush administration didn’t order the abuses at Abu Ghraib, as you well know. And you know that the abusers were prosecuted and punished. Other than that, cogent point as usual.

The Abu Ghraib photos lead to some of the most violent times in Iraq and were a vital recruitment tool for AQI.

It wasn’t the Abu Ghraib photos that led to some of the most violent times in Iraq…in fact, they probably had zero to do with it.
(Moktada al-Sadr & his Shi’ite “army” plus the Saddam faithful/Sunni were the ones who pumped up the violence.)
No-one but bleeding heart Liberals in this country thought Abu Ghraib was terrible–in fact, many Iraqis snickered, remembering how awful Abu Ghraib had really been under Saddam Hussein.
Releasing these photos will do nothing but give our enemies courage by showing how soft, weak and whiny we are and announcing that will be even nicer to them in future.
Meanwhile, they have no plans to stop truly torturing and beheading us or our friends.

I’ve disagreed with liberals in the past. I’ve been angry with liberals in the past. I’ve been disgusted with liberals in the past but it’s pretty much graduated into full blown hatred which is dangerous in itself as it could lead to irrational thoughts from myself but damnit, there is nothing endearing or virtuous about what these bastards are doing to our country.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised considering this is from a man who went to a church for 20 years that said “Goddamn America” and got his political introduction from a domestic terrorist who actually had a part in setting off bombs in our own country. It makes perfect sense actually considering who it is… I just wish our country didn’t have to suffer the consequences.

Would the ACLU have protected him while the people on the planes, the WTC, the people who worked there and the people who tried to save them burned and were crushed to death?
