Good news: Obama to release Chinese Muslim Gitmo detainees into U.S.

No. No, we’ll save that for another day.
The Obama administration is preparing to admit into the United States as many as seven Chinese Muslims who have been imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay in the first release of any of the detainees into this country, according to current and former U.S. officials…
The Uighurs were sent to Guantanamo in 2002 after being captured in Pakistan. Before that, they had gravitated to Afghanistan, where they received firearms training at a camp apparently run by a Uighur separatist.
Some former U.S. officials have said government information indicates that the Uighurs may pose a danger if released. But other officials and human rights organizations insist they pose no threat to Americans…
Not long after being granted access to TV, some of the Uighurs were watching a soccer game. When a woman with bare arms was shown on the screen, one of the group grabbed the television and threw it to the ground, according to the officials.
They’re likely headed to the Virginia suburbs, but Stephanopoulos warns us that the crazy Republicans (who also support enhanced interrogation) are likely to “pounce” on the decision, so who knows where these poor misunderstood souls who somehow ended up in Afghanistan and are known to become violent at the sight of bare arms will end up. Exit question: How about Montana?

Any updates on how the Gitmo Uighurs who were previously released to Albania are doing?
They do not want to be repatriated to China, where most of their ethnic brethren live [East Turkmenia], and China has already declared that if they were sent to China they’d be arrested and put in prison immediately. China has no interest in having real or alleged members of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement running around loose in China.
Bring them here? Of mixed feelings about this…yeah, I know…”feelings”…but from what I’ve read/heard so far is that the Gitmo Uighurs thus far (with one or two exceptions) have been model prisoners, some were apparently given liberty in the Guantanamo Naval Station, working as gardeners and grounds keepers.
If a community in the US is willing to sponsor them (other than CAIR, or similar outfit, of course) I’d take a second look at it.

The residents of Virginia should have a say in this. I recieved an email from the McDonnell campaign that mentioned this last week – it’s not like this state has the money to provide security if these detainees get sent here. I don’t want them on the street, I don’t even want them in prison anywhere near other criminals – they’re likely to pass on their hatred and tactics on to others in the system.
If they’re originally from China, send them back. Airdrop them in if China doesn’t want them. They don’t deserve to come to America.

Actually, as I understand the details, these guys were are from a sect of Islam that’s been specifically targeting China. If they were released to China, they would be executed immediately.
However, since we are operating under the assumption that none of this has anything to do with religion, it’s been deemed that they’re no proven threat to AMERICA. So we should be perfectly safe.
As long as we don’t look Oriental.
