House GOP: Napolitano must go

posted at 8:54 pm on April 22, 2009 by Allahpundit

She doesn’t know immigration law or how the 9/11 hijackers got here, and she can’t manage a report on a topic as sensitive as domestic terrorism without insulting vets, but hey — at least she doesn’t owe back taxes. Who could have guessed that the title of Most Hapless Obama Appointee would pass so soon from Geithner?

Nothing says “smart power” like having foreign media wonder how your chief of security got her job.

House Republicans are calling on Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to step down or be fired in the wake of a controversial department memo that has sparked indignant battle cries from conservatives and some veterans.

“Singling out political opponents for working against the ruling party is precisely the tactic of every tyrannical government from Red China to Venezuela,” said Texas Rep. John Carter, a member of the party’s elected leadership who has organized an hour of floor speeches Wednesday night to call for Napolitano’s ouster. “The first step in the process is creating unfounded public suspicion of political opponents, followed by arresting and jailing any who continue speaking against the regime.”

Leave it to the GOP to blow an easy lay-up like sticking up for vets by invoking hyperbolic comparisons to Red China and jailing of dissidents. Funny thing: If they did somehow succeed in getting Napolitano canned, her likely next move would be … running for Senate in Arizona, where she’d be well positioned to turn the seat blue thanks to the internecine McCain/Simcox primary bloodletting to come. Napolitano must stay!

Anyone who thinks Napolitano would beat either Republican in 2010 does not appreciate the political motions currently under way in this country

Agreed. When is the last time ONE MILLION conservatives got out there in the streets and *gulp* actually protested anything?

Um… never.

Not a freudian slip. Just my normal dysfunctionality.

Did you read the thread link about the young man who discovered that conservative Christians are all stupid, racist, Nazi homophobes? That’s how liberals view us, I guess.

The one that went to Liberty? I thought his eyes were opened up – but maybe not completely.

But yes, most lefties label us that way. Oh well, their loss for not being open minded…

OK, I’m out, but if you don’t hear from me in a while, you know Janet has me in the “torture chamber.”

Better yet…eliminate the department of homeland security.

nazo311 on April 23, 2009 at 1:23 AM

I argued a couple days ago that Obama’s picks to head every department are the perfect conservative argument for approving every future pick he makes. Nobody can make this failed administration look as foolish as they can on their own. I want to see every one of The Failed One’s secretaries catastrophically blowing answers to softball questions on every newscast, every night. It’s what they do best.

If we had an actual first-amendment-style press, they’d just cut her. Anytime a DHS question arises and she gives a press conference, the press should say, “right, now what does Obama say [since you obviously don't know dick]?”.

Let her be the albatross around the neck of the administration. What’s the real story [since we know it doesn't matter what she says]?”

Okay, I want you to think really long and hard about just how utterly inept and unqualified for the job of Homeland Security head this woman really is and the very real danger that such an incompetent and utterly clueless person in such a position really poses to the safety and security of the American people.

Now I pose to you this question:

Which would you rather lose, a Senate seat or a city?

Senate seats can be recovered.

Cities, or more importantly the thousands of American lives that would be lost should one fall victim to a terrorist attack, CANNOT be replaced.

Pull your head out of your rectal vault and get your damn prioities straight.

“invoking hyperbolic comparisons to Red China and jailing of dissidents”

Um, Carter is correct to do so, and you are not. Its not hyperbole to point out exactly what the socialists running the government are doing.

They ARE employing the tactics of every two bit dictator that ever came down the pike and we apparently have quite a few people who need basic facts spelled out for them.

After all, they voted for Hussein.

dogsoldier on April 23, 2009 at 6:53 AM

I know someone who is just itching to get that job: Hugo Chavez.

Well-positioned? Based on what? Having been a national embarrassment and total failure as head of DHS? That’s one impressive resume to run on! “Hire me as your Senator, Arizona. I need a new job ‘cuz I just got fired for massive incompetence in my last job.”

Anyway, Janet does not enjoy the support she once did in Arizona. She ran up big budget deficits during her second term, and her weakness on the border issues was causing more and more Arizonans to want her gone. She could conceivably win another statewide election in the state (never underestimate the stupidity of Democratic voters), but it certainly wouldn’t be a cakewalk. McCain would probably love to run against her in the general.

NRA Lifer on April 23, 2009 at 8:27 AM

I’ve said before that Ogabe consciously picks underlings who are more incompetent than himself so that he won’t be upstaged by any potential intelligent comments from them and so that he can look smart by comparison. Finally, why would he need competence around him if he’s running everything by the power of his will and “vision”.
Consequently, it doesn’t matter if she stays or goes. Ogabe is the one who must go.

SKYFOX on April 23, 2009 at 8:46 AM

Napolitano must stay!

No, because she will do more damage to our country in her present position then as a Senator.

JeffinSac on April 23, 2009 at 8:53 AM

She must go. Her recent gaffs show she is does not understanding the dynamics of securing our Homeland. She does not even know who the enemy is nor where they come from, vital to combating the true enemy of our Nation.

She does not even recognize we are being torn apart from inside.

It has always amazed me that a single group (leftists) could simply say we are true BLUE and everyone that does not agree with us is RED. Thus, creating the internal rift that will destroy us from within.

Do not let the theme song for the popular TV series “MASH” and an oft forgotten movie “Catch 22″ – “Suicide is Painless” become our National Anthem of the future.

I was taught in business that your company is no better than it’s weakest employee. Obama’s administration is no better than the incompetence he selects and promotes. These are what he is. She is bigoted and Hussein is also.
Janet Napolean tanno is unpatriotic towards vets and Obama is also. He thought he would punish them by forcing them to pay for their own war injuries.

House GOP: Napolitano must go

As governor of Arizona, Janet Napolitano was a total disaster. She blocked, and vetoed every illegal immigration bill that reached her desk. The faster this nit-wit gets the boot, the safer America will be.

This article and the comments is just a reminder that Arizona politics is a total mess. I have no idea who would win what!

New blood like Simcox seems like a good plan.

IF Napolitano was ousted from DHS, which I favor, that would be a stigma with Republicans here that I don’t think she could overcome.

Remember she named us as targets for supporting immigration laws.

It would certainly be an interesting race between the Minute Man and the Propagandist.

I’m continually amazed that Allah disapproves of language that perfectly describes that DHS report. It is an attempt to marginalize Obama’s political opposition, released on the eve of the tea parties. That is fascist and tyrannical, calling it other is dishonest.

Normally I don’t respond to people as grossly stupid as you are, but your understanding of history is nonexistent. Jews have lived on that land for about 2000 years prior to an Arab ever setting foot there. But then again, facts never seem to matter to brain dead hacks like yourself.

Leave it to the GOP to blow an easy lay-up like sticking up for vets by invoking hyperbolic comparisons to Red China and jailing of dissidents…Napolitano must stay!

You have some twisted thinking. Exactly why is a Homeland Security Memo like the one released so controversial then? What exactly were they trying to tell Law Enforcement Officials about or to do with conservatives? I guess then it shouldn’t have been that big of a deal if it effectively meant nothing to warrant hyperbolic tyrannical comparisons. Got it.

So what IS the responsibility of the Sec. of Homeland Security? It is just a figurehead job with no purpose in ACTUALLY keeping us secure? So, what you’re saying AllahPundit is that any happy Yahoo who knows nothing about our laws to which they supposedly have oversight on can do this job and it really doesn’t matter much anyway. Then why do we have the dang Department? What’s its purpose? Just to hire more people to sit around and pontificate and do nothing? Yes, yes, yes AllahPundit, you are right. It is far better for you to have more blogs to post about hyperbolic memos and statements made by this woman than to actually have someone in the position whose looking out for the safety and security of the American people. I’ll remember that after the next “man-made disaster”.

I am not a fan of the House GOP, but at least they are making some kind of effort to bring awareness to what an idiot this woman is. Sorry but the nation’s security is too important to leave to an incompetent partisan idiot. Thinking about the outcome of the Arizona race is also partisan and something that the GOP should leave to the domestic enemies of America (aka Democrats).

The only question here is whether or not she’s up to the job or if this is the filthy liar’s “you’re doing a heck of a job Brownie” moment. Nepolitano is clearly not up to the job and she’s got to go. The voters of Arizona will have to decide if they want to be represented by a Vet-hating/terrorist and illegal loving boob who got fired in disgrace from the most corrupt administration in modern history.

Most pathetically stupid comment of the year! The land was actually given to the Jews by none other than God you twit! It was renamed Palestine by the Romans after they conquered the Jewish people in 70 AD in an attempt to wipe out any memory of the Jewish race! A reading and understanding of history helps when trying to discuss important matters. It helps you not sound like a Dill Weed!
