Coulter eulogizes her mother

An affecting read on a slow news night, for the same reason that Salon piece by Rush Limbaugh’s cousin was so affecting: It shows us what a partisan warrior looks like when their armor is off.

When she began her final decline last fall, she had to go to her Connecticut doctor without me to find out what was wrong. This was the first time she didn’t seem to be getting better after a chemo treatment.

So I had been worrying about her appointment all day, but when I called her that night, she immediately turned the subject to me and asked me how my book was going.

I insisted on knowing if she had seen the doctor and she perked up and brightly told me that, oh yes, she had seen him, he had all my books in his office, he was worried about Obama, too, and he has such beautiful children!

Before she launched into a spirited discussion of his children’s extracurricular activities and triumphs on the athletic field, I had to ask her, “Mommy, did the doctor happen to say anything about why you’re feeling lousy?”

It turned out, of course, that it was the ovarian cancer — as well as the massive amounts of poison she had been receiving to kill the cancer over the past five years. That was the beginning of the end.

She wrote a similar eulogy for her father last year — and was mocked for it by the Huffington Post. I wonder how much hate mail she’ll get for this one.

I’m so sorry. Deepest sympathy for you and your family.

Sorry to hear of her loss. I was at a funeral of a family friend last weekend. It is always a difficult time. Bless Ann Coulter, she is an American treasure.

God Bless her mother and her. She really can write beautifully when she wants to. I found this sad and heart warming all the same time.

To be made fun of by HuffPo, etal should be interpreted as having done something right.

Sounds like Anne had a wonderful mother.

Sorry for your loss Ms. Coulter. It is never easy to watch a loved one fight for life and it teaches us so much. Your Mother’s strength is your strength. God Bless your family.

……. and as God wraps his loving arms around your Mother, and welcomes her home, may he also give you and the rest of your family the strength and love to deal with the pain of her temporary loss.

She wrote a similar eulogy for her father last year — and was mocked for it by the Huffington Post. I wonder how much hate mail she’ll get for this one.

Huffington is the same person that keeps referring to Coulter as a mean nasty person. When will Larry King call her out? Never.

A death of a Parent is hard, especially if it is due to illness. Ann, my condolences.

She will get plenty of hate mail. Remember, to Liberals their politics are their religion. To them, people like Ann are their demons. When one of their demons suffers they celebrate.

My condolences to Ann and her family.

This might not make her feel better right now but hopefully in the future she will know that if her mother loved Christ, “absent from the body means present with the Lord”…

God bless you and comfort you, Ann, in your sorrow.

I have all Ann’s books and I turn on shows just to watch her. A child is a product of their parents, so her mother must have been what I have tried to be to my children. Ann, I’m 57, blonde and likeminded. I would have been proud to be your mother. I’m certain that she was and is proud of you. God bless you and her soul.

Sorry for you loss, Ann. You were lucky to have a great mother.

Maybe someone could troll DU, Kos, and HuffPo to show the wonderful tolerance and progressive compassion they are so known for. But I don’t have the stomach for those places anymore.

What a loving and personal tribute Ann Coulter gives to her mother. Ann’s parents must have been exceptional people to have reared a daughter of equally exceptional character.

Condolences and supportive prayers to you, Ann, and to your brothers.

For your mother, Ann, and for all of our loved ones who have gone before us…

May the angels lead thee into Paradise;
may the martyrs receive thee at thy coming
and lead thee into the holy city, Jerusalem.
May choirs of angels receive thee,
and with Lazarus, who once was poor,
may thou have eternal rest.

In paradisum deducant te Angeli;
in tuo adventu suscipiant te martyres,
et perducant te in civitatem sanctam Jerusalem.
Chorus Angelorum te suscipiat, et cum Lazaro
quondam paupere aeternam habeas requiem.

I left a comment over on Ann’s site. It wasn’t long ago I (we) was (were) reading her tribute to her father. Obviously this was a family characterized by great strength and even greater love. What a beautiful tribute. Prayers of comfort for Ann and her family and prayers of joy for the happiness of Ann’s mother reunited with her husband and fully alive in the presence of the love of Christ.

It is a wonderful eulogy indeed. I lost my parents about a year and a half apart a few years ago–it’s not fun, and it’s not easy.

Bob's Kid on April 22, 2009 at 10:30 PM

What hate the left wishes to throw at Ann will mean little when she one day meets her sweet mother and the Man that keeps them both. This is the time to put the temporal out of mind and focus on the universal and eternal.

I haven’t been a huge fan of Ann – the reasons for that don’t belong in this thread. With that said – that was a very touching eulogy. My condolences to the Coulter family.

As a fellow Scot, here’s a little Robbie Burns:

“Farewell, thou fair day, thou green earth, and ye skies,
Now gay with the broad setting sun;
Farewell, loves and friendships, ye dear tender ties,
Our race of existence is run!
Thou grim King of Terrors; thou Life’s gloomy foe!
Go, frighten the coward and slave;
Go, teach them to tremble, fell tyrant! but know
No terrors hast thou to the brave! “

“For my mother,

Thank you Mrs. Coulter for raising a daughter my daughters just love! In the era of totally whacko females constantly jockeying for new levels of disgusting behavior, or pure stupidity; Ann turned out very well and a good role model for young females. She is not a bad role model for those of us who are older females either! Our two think Mr. and Mrs. Coulter did a swell job! Here is hoping other parents will be able to leave behind such a legacy. Our children are after all, a reflection of us.

May God be with Ann and her family in this time of their lives. We send you many hugs and much love Ann!
