More Miss California: I oppose bailouts and welfare
posted at 6:40 pm on April 21, 2009 by Allahpundit
Skip ahead to 2:00. Dude. She’s one of us.
Actually, don’t skip ahead. This clip’s even better than the “Today” segment, especially when she talks about what went through her mind when she was asked the question at the pageant. Hotness is often inversely proportional to sweetness, but this kid is somehow off the charts on both. Good work, mom and dad.
Watch Cavuto try to recruit her for Fox News at the very end. Blonde, beautiful, and conservative: I’d be surprised if Ailes hasn’t signed her already.

You don’t get “excited” about this issue, because you’re not the one being denied equality here.
JetBoy on April 21, 2009 at 7:48 PM
Judging by the description of you and your screenname, I’m also guessing that procreation really isn’t an option for you if it doesn’t involve a friendly barnyard animal.

True, both water fountains quenched thirst the same exact way. But even so, it was wrong to separate fountains based on race.
But you, and so many others, are under the false impression that this is about “semantics”. “Marriage” and “Civil Unions” are separate, but far from equal.
Do a little bit of research on the legal differences afforded to each. And educate yourself.
JetBoy on April 21, 2009 at 7:51 PM
We haven’t? Somewhere people in Massachusetts, Vermont, Iowa, and Connecticut are scratching their heads.
dcwvu on April 21, 2009 at 7:53 PM
I’ll pose my question again 2 Jetboy:
So I’m curious do you also think polygamists are also being segregated against by not being allowed to be married? Since marriage, according to you, is a civil right.
terryannonline on April 21, 2009 at 7:53 PM
JetBoy…it’s not about equality, it’s about changing definitions. All rights that heterosexual married couples have, so can gay couples in civil unions. It’s about taking a word “marriage” and changing it.
And let’s be clear. heterosexual marriage and Gay marriage (if it ever were to be) are different, inherently because one has two of the same sex and the other doesn’t. Unless of course you think that Man and Woman are the same.
So if it IS different at face value then why should the traditional definition of marriage change to encompass it?
spacekicker on April 21, 2009 at 7:54 PM
Dumbass is one word, not two. Ironic that you didn’t know that.

How do you know that? You do not know anything about me. I am a woman. My grandmother was 20 years old before women were even allowed to vote in national elections in this country. That was about rights.
I was born in the 50′s and grew up during the civil rights movement and there is a huge difference between forcing someone to pay a poll tax and telling them that marriage is between a man and a woman.

The REAL 2009 Miss America — Miss NC Kristin Dalton — is drop dead gorgeous. I’m afraid she is getting overlooked from this CA girl who is hopping from camera crew to camera crew like a fat kid to cakeshops. Kristin deserves her time in the spotlight and is showing her class by not going on multiple interviews whining like other people.
C’mon. It’s the Miss USA pageant. Really? If this little “controversy” hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t even know that the whole pageant happened. Miss NC will get her day in the sun and then most people will forget who she is. Not to say that she doesn’t deserve some air time, but this was the bigger story. Why would anyone turn down the interviews the runner-up has received? If this is just her fifteen minutes, so to speak (though I hope not), then let her do with it what she can. She isn’t being a jerk about it and it isn’t lack of class. She got verbally slapped by Perez Hilton, who apparently fashions himself as some kind of star, and had some of those Cali types who helped get her there release statements about how they are “hurt and saddened.” So she should just go hide for a week? She has every right to stand up for herself.

Homosexuals should be happy with civil unions, but they won’t be because their real goal is to destroy the traditional marriage and the family and Christianity along with it, while forcing the rest of us to accept them as “mainstream and normal.”

The getalife drinking game!
1 drink posts:
Uses term ‘cons’

States “the adults are in charge’
Posts a link to a liberal media outlet.
Says HotAir wants the president to fail
Says that the recession is over
Thanks president Obama
NEW TERM! ‘gop news’
2 drink posts:
Mentions Cheney’s hunting accident
Makes a post that contains two propositions each containing three words. Example: “don’t worry cons. Adults in charge”
Mentions Halliburton, Carlyle Group, Enron
3 drink posts:
Says “You can’t have it both ways cons.”
Finish your drink posts:
Actually responds with factual information pertinent to the current.

Civil unions allow people to share property and pass on benefits and all sorts of things that marriage also conveys. The point is that gay activists want to force society to accept this right now and when someone disagrees with them they get ugly. That does not help their cause, it just makes them look obnoxious.
Terrye on April 21, 2009 at 8:00 PM
Also on a side note. Shouldn’t Heterosexual marriage be made more attractive with MORE incentive just on a purely sociological standpoint? We need families and hetero couples to procreate or we are going to see our civilization collapse like those in Europe.
We need something like 2.5 babies per couple, and with more and more people living together, it’ll be harder for couples to maintain a stable enough atmosphere to have one child let alone multiple. We have to replace jobs yo!

Umm, I’m not fighting for polygamy. Y’all really need to stop with this crud. Gay rights has nothing to do with pro-polygamy. Or pro-bestiality. Or pro-NAMBLA junk. Or anything else.
Don’t lump every category you can think of in with the fight for gay rights. It doesn’t look too intelligent.

JetBoy on April 21, 2009 at 8:07 PM
I’d support polygamy acceptance before I accepted gay marriage acceptance. Polygamy at least focuses on a nuclear family and raising kids – and is accepted some places in the Bible. gay marriage focuses on what feels good.
ThackerAgency on April 21, 2009 at 8:07 PM
Can you say dodge?
Society has the right to set boundaries on marriage. You can marry someone of the opposite sex. AND YES it is fair to ask you about polygamy . BUT Play your tired games. It is so common among gay rights advocates.
CWforFreedom on April 21, 2009 at 8:08 PM
I like your posts, but this is not the level of discourse at which we should operate. I know many families with Down Syndrome kids. They are great. Biden is not. I understand your sentiment though. He is a frustrating boob to watch…

Kini on April 21, 2009 at 8:11 PM
You are not answering my question. Why is gay marriage alright and not polygamy? Don’t polygamists love their partners like homosexual couples love their each other? If we are going to extend marriage to include homosexual couples why not people who have more than one spouse?
terryannonline on April 21, 2009 at 8:11 PM
That’s not the point. The point is why should we give special treatment to homosexuals over polygamists or bestiality? It’s all about love and who you’re attracted to right?
Everyone has a right to marry one person of the opposite sex. Polygamists can’t marry more than one person and people who practice bestiality can’t marry an animal, but everyone can marry a single person of the opposite sex.
MobileVideoEngineer on April 21, 2009 at 8:12 PM
The 14th Amendment does not mean equal rights to everyone on every issue at any time. In other words, it doesn’t mandate a free for all–do what you want if it feels good and doesn’t hurt anyone else. There are classifications. If the state enforces a law that impacts a suspect classification, such as race, national origin, and religion, the state must have an exceptional reason for the law. The burden is not as high on lower classifications, including gender and sexual orientation. There’s a balancing that must take place.
So, regarding gay marriage, it’s not as simple as “I’m denied equal rights.” Every day, people are denied rights that others have because of a law in place, and it’s not unconstitutional. Have a problem with that, take it up with the Supreme Court.
Erich66 on April 21, 2009 at 8:14 PM
It’s not dumb, it’s accurate; you have only to look at the Gaystapo who demonized Prop. 8 supporters for proof!
As for you conferring God’s blessing to the any who sanction your sodomy, I’d feel a lot better if you’d confess your homosexual sin to your priest before you do that.

Terrye, there’s more to it than meets the eye here.
They don’t want just “marriage”. They want the complete elimination of Christianity and Christians from public life and the complete repudiation of the Bible as “hate literature”. Many of them were probably taunted and mocked by people who pretended to be Christians, so they make the assumption that all Christians are the same. Thus, their hatred towards us.
I would not be surprised, in the least, if some papyrus were to be unearthed tomorrow which described the orgasms some gays might have had during the time of the Roman empire, not while having sex, but by watching Christians become the lions’ main course or the Romans’ human torch. After all, even back then Christians were repudiated because they refused to live according to the world.
How many homosexuals celebrated the day they found out that the Apostle Paul was beheaded? Plenty, I bet. If Obama ordered the rounding-up of Christian conservatives to have us all executed by firing squad tomorrow, don’t you think the “all-year partying” would happen the very next day? Of course it will! We are the banes of their existence, my friends.

JetBoy on April 21, 2009 at 8:45 PM
People have put forth a real solution to this conundrum many, many times: all states can stiplate that there be no such thing as “civil marriage.” IOW, call both homosexual and heterosexual unions between two consenting adults ‘civil unions’ and leave the marriage business to religious institutions since marriage is a religious concept objectively defined as the union between one man and one woman. Very simple and very equal. But the activists won’t accept that. Why not?
baldilocks on April 21, 2009 at 8:46 PM
We’re not “haters” and I resent you describing us thusly.
Christ said, “Hate the sin. Love the sinner.”
No one here hates homosexuals; we just don’t see the public need or benefit for them to be granted same sex “marriage.”

baldilocks on April 21, 2009 at 8:46 PM
Homosexual activists may believe that the word “marriage” will convey normalcy on their relationship. Also, as pointed out earlier, their proposal would theoretically force churches to marry them or face lawsuits. All they would have to do is become a member of the church and then approach them about the marriage.
kingsjester on April 21, 2009 at 8:49 PM
Tru dat.
Can you, as well, show me where Christ ever called a gay person a sinner, or immoral, or asked a gay person to “change”, or condemned a gay person, or judged a person for being gay….?
No, you cannot.

I like you and respect you too. I think we have genuine disagreements on this isse but we can talk civily:)
I know that gay marriage is not polygamy but I guess my point is that if marriage has traditionally be granted to one man and one woman. If we are going to redefine marriage to include gay and lesbian couples, I don’t see why shouldn’t extend that other families like polygamist families.

right4life on April 21, 2009 at 9:00 PM
Try to remember that.
JetBoy on April 21, 2009 at 9:00 PM
The approval of marriage as a right to gays would open the doors for the eventual ostracizing of Christians and their institutions from any form of involvement in public affairs, such as charitable enterprises, education, adoptions. Catholic Charities in MA no longer provide adoption services because they refuse to offer adoption services for gay couples. A photographer in NM was fined for refusing to photograph a “union”. e-Harmony had to open a gay site because of a lawsuit in the state of NJ.
Next thing you know, not a single Conservative Christian church in this land will be tax exempt because of the clear Biblical teaching on the issue. The Boy Scouts are now seen as the Hitler Youth, remember. Churches and charities will close because of this, and many of the poor and infirm will suffer even more. And Christians will not even be considered for jobs in that new economy, because so it is required by the goddess called “Tolerance”. The First Amendment and freedom of religious conscience be damned.
I never thought that socialism/Communism would take a hold of this country in my lifetime, after the reality of those seventy-five years or so of the Russian Revolution, but we all now know what’s going on. If you think what I described cannot happen here, think again.
Christians are in very perilous times. We better get ready to lose everything we have because of who we are.

The idea that gays are discriminated against is ridiculous. A gay man has the same right to marry a woman as a straight man. Ditto for a gay woman who can marry a man just like a straight woman.
A straight man can’t marry a man. A gay man can’t marry a man.
A straight woman can’t marry a woman. A gay woman can’t marry a woman.
The law applies equally to everyone. There is no discrimination taking place.
