More Miss California: I oppose bailouts and welfare

posted at 6:40 pm on April 21, 2009 by Allahpundit

Skip ahead to 2:00. Dude. She’s one of us.

Actually, don’t skip ahead. This clip’s even better than the “Today” segment, especially when she talks about what went through her mind when she was asked the question at the pageant. Hotness is often inversely proportional to sweetness, but this kid is somehow off the charts on both. Good work, mom and dad.

Watch Cavuto try to recruit her for Fox News at the very end. Blonde, beautiful, and conservative: I’d be surprised if Ailes hasn’t signed her already.

We have throngs of conservatives. The only reason it’s news is because the media doesn’t believe they exist – especially attractive ones like me and Miss California.

No I’m a straight black man who happens to believe gay right is civil rights.

nice343 on April 21, 2009 at 6:49 PM

And like most liberals you also seem to believe that anyone who disagrees with you is evil.

MarkTheGreat on April 22, 2009 at 9:28 AM

Dude you’re trying to have a rational discussion with people who believe the earth was created 6,000 years ago and sarah palin’s ancestors hunted dinosaurs.

benny shakar on April 21, 2009 at 7:21 PM

Nice bit of stereotyping there. Have you used your brain at any time in the last decade?

MarkTheGreat on April 22, 2009 at 9:40 AM

I do not believe that the earth was created 6,000 years ago and neither do these people but yet we believe the Bible.

MobileVideoEngineer on April 21, 2009 at 7:24 PM

Give it up, like most liberals, shakar’s immense intellectual powers are able to penetrate your mental defenses and are able to perceive everything that you really believe. Even those things that you aren’t aware that you believe.

The REAL 2009 Miss America — Miss NC Kristin Dalton — is drop dead gorgeous. I’m afraid she is getting overlooked from this CA girl who is hopping from camera crew to camera crew like a fat kid to cakeshops. Kristin deserves her time in the spotlight and is showing her class by not going on multiple interviews whining like other people.

dcwvu on April 21, 2009 at 7:26 PM

Don’t you just love the way liberals try to change the subject every time they find they are loosing an arguement. Of course, since they lose so often, they get very good at their diversionary tactics.

1) Do you really believe that someone should lose a competition like this, just because they give a non-PC answer to a highly political question?
2) The lady was attacked, visciously, on national television. Do you honestly believe that she should not have equal time to defend herself?
3) You believe she should turn down these interviews, just because you believe someone else is more worthy?

It’s either, dumbass. Dumb ass.

Take your pick. The two word version, dumb ass, is considered more correct.

hawkdriver on April 21, 2009 at 8:47 PM

dcwvu strikes me as your typical postgrad, utterly convinced that he knews everything about everything, and nothing (except the coming real world) will ever shake that confidence. (wvu (West Virginia University???))

MarkTheGreat on April 22, 2009 at 10:13 AM

Can you, as well, show me where Christ ever called a gay person a sinner, or immoral, or asked a gay person to “change”, or condemned a gay person, or judged a person for being gay….?

No, you cannot.

JetBoy on April 21, 2009 at 8:49 PM

So unless Christ specifically repeated something from the old testament, that old testament passage must be considered revoked?

MarkTheGreat on April 22, 2009 at 10:16 AM

The only time he is happy is when he is in his favorite stall down at the bath house.

The Pink Mafia rigged this pageant. Asking that question was out of line. They targeted her with it because of her views.

Miss Dalton will always be #2 for playing along with this charade.

Jerricho68 on April 22, 2009 at 10:29 AM

It’s not Miss America anyway.

Jerricho68 on April 22, 2009 at 10:30 AM

This probably IS a blessing in disguise for Miss California. She got more publicity for this unfair attack on her faith than she would have gotten if she had gotten a softball question and been Miss USA. She will probably become a poster girl for Christian conservatives everywhere, and have a bright future ahead of her.

But if she truly believes in marriage between one man and one woman, she will be tested–there are probably thousands of men lining up to be her husband, and it will be difficult for her to choose ONE man, without going the way of Britney Spears and Lindsey Lohan. May God bless her!

The real Miss USA from North Carolina WILL have her moment (year) in the limelight, until the next pageant. Probably ALL 50 Miss (pick a state) are drop-dead gorgeous, that’s why they won their state pageants. Since California is the most populous state, Miss California had more competition than the others.

But the point is, the question Perez Hilton asked was designed to force Miss California into an agenda–to be a “dumb PC blonde” parroting talking points and not thinking for herself, and Miss California refused to play along, and defended her faith, come what may. By her courageous answer, she sparked a backlash among the “silent majority”, and without becoming “Miss USA”, may become the de facto “Miss Christian USA”, a heroine to the faithful.

A great moment of truth

We so so few these days

She won the big contest

MarkTheGreat on April 22, 2009 at 9:49 AM

Actually, I think the question is even more basic: do you believe that when you explicitly ask someone for their opinion … that they ought to give, you know, their opinion?

It’s all so stupid. If there’s only one acceptable answer even though you ask for an “opinion,” what’s the point of the question.

Just script the answer you want in advance and put it on the teleprompter. You know. Like our President.

For what its worth, I’d be just as impressed with a conservative standing in front of a conservative audience who voiced a pro-choice opinion. I’d disagree vehemently with the opinion … but I’d be equally damning of any idiot who asked for the opinion if they didn’t actually want to hear the opinion.

You have a right to their opinion.

That scumbag didn’t ask Miss Prejean for her opinion. It asked her for his opinion.

Hey Mark the Great

Can you tell me what happened to the late great cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and why they ain’t no more …oh and who done it

Aggie95 on April 22, 2009 at 7:19 PM

So now Miss NC goes through life with an asterisk after her Miss USA title, and Ms Prejean gets all the media attention.

Perez The Scumbag may be the best thing that could have happened to her.

This incident – like the ‘political class’ response to the tea parties in the survey a few days ago – helps to call to the public’s attention that there is a huge gap in this country between those who think for themselves and those that presume to think for others.
