Obviously you have never been to a Church of Christ. The congregation sings(no choir). Nobody enjoys listening to it trust me on this one.

They are bad reasons because you can go for those reasons and still be lost and go to hell.

Can’t church still help?

Of course you can but that is irrelevent.

You can go to a restaurant to go to the bathroom, but you wont get fed.
You can go to JiffyLube to meet your friend, but your car won’t get maintenance.
You can go to the hospital to watch people, but you won’t get well.

My point: is what is the purpose of church? Look at the examples in scripture.

It’s for hearing the word of God.
It’s for conviction of sin and the need of a savior.
It’s for fellowship with fellow believers in Christ to share in God’s mercy and grace.

All those people Jesus healed were there to be healed physically and had no idea what they were in for after being touched. God can use anything. There’s no reason to act as though he can’t.

I never suggested that he can’t. God is sovereign. He uses foolishness to comfound the wise. But many of those healed people are likely to be lost. God healed them to demonstrate his power.

If this is her 15 minutes, you should at least mention her, er, I mean Carrie Prejean’s name for doing the right thing. The lady deserves some respect, IMO.

Note to future pageant contestants Americans in the not-too-distant future: No believers allowed. Too “uninclusive.”

If you think she is immoral for walking around in a bikini, fine that is your opinion. But you also better recognize your own illicit thoughts as sinful when seeing her in that bikini. You were obviously experiencing some lust which made you uncomfortable.

I am not judging Miss California, she seems like a righteous woman.

I on the other hand have no problem judging her. The fact of the matter is is that, as Christian, she shouldn’t be competing in a competition which requires her to where clear-cut immodest “clothing.” The men who lust after her will be held to account, but so will she, for dressing so provocatively.

She wore a bikini and is immodest and therefore immoral and therefore no better than Perez. There’s a reasonable understanding that one extreme is gratuitous nudity and the other is a burka. Neither is all that moral in my book to begin with.

I have not been following this discussion, but are you being serious? You do realize Mary Magdalene as well as many of Jesus’ followers were in fact prostitutes and burlesque performers? You also realize that Adam and Eve ran around naked?
