Miss California: I wasn’t politically correct, I was Biblically correct
posted at 3:45 pm on April 21, 2009 by Allahpundit
Good lord. Between her beauty, her stand on principle, and her serenity after such a crushing disappointment, even I’m ready to convert. Lauer clearly seems sympathetic to her, too. Maggie Gallagher’s right: This is a PR bonanza for gay-marriage opponents, and the stupider and nastier Perez “dumb bitch” Hilton gets, the bigger the bonanza is. Last night he whined to Larry King that she should have been more politically correct while insisting that he didn’t hold her position on gay marriage against her; here he complains that she should have left her politics out of an answer to an overtly political question and punctuates it with “I don’t want her talking about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus because that’s offensive to all of the Jewish-Americans,” etc. Which makes me think his issue with her might in fact be mostly about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. Note to future pageant contestants: No believers allowed. Too “uninclusive.”

I’m inclined to think this is becoming more about Charles Johnson’s self-importance and unquestionable moral and intellectual authority than reality.

Another thing.. I’m quite sure that if the roles were reversed and Perez Hilton were in the pageant.. his answer would have been very politically correct as to not offend anyone..

Hiltons wiki page says he claims Anderson Cooper is gay. Hmm? Didn’t know that.
hawkdriver on April 21, 2009 at 5:33 PM
Hint to Hilton, and any of his homosexual genius friends:
The way you are representing homosexuals in the U.S. is doing them much disservice. Behaving this way will, in no way, prop up support for recognition as equal, because you are just barely operating with the even the basic human attributes. You appear feral and woefully lacking in self control. You are coming across as a whiny teenaged girl having a tantrum. In our house, that is the exact way to act to ensure you will NOT get what you are looking for.
Take some behavioral pointers from Prejean, and become an adult, at the very least.
caygeon on April 21, 2009 at 5:36 PM
Very bad analogy. Recently, a well-known gay activitist was asked if it is OK to call a gay person a queer and he started swearing and said something like “where would you ever get the idea that we dont like being called queer. We are here, we are queer and we are proud of it.”
So, again, bad analogy and you are showing your ignorance.
The Wall on April 21, 2009 at 5:36 PM
She has definitely impressed me. Wow. God does have a plan for her life. And it’s much bigger than winning that crown.
What a great example of courage and integrity. That is what I want representing my country as a true beauty.
TaraLynn on April 21, 2009 at 5:37 PM
Wow! Someone who won’t compromise her conservative beliefs! Let her run for Congress! We could use a few people like that there. And with all the beta males in the newsmedia, she might have quite a forum to get her views out.

He is a hateful, despicable person, and perpetuates the image of gays as catty and spiteful. Next time I’m talking to my gay friends, I’ll find out from them what they think of this A-hole.
And he calls Miss California a “stupid bitch?” He is the epitome of a pissed off, high strung, hormonally charged beee-yotch.

The perfect answer for that slimey butt pirate would have been, “Everyone has the right to be married.” If she had answered in a nutral manner he would have whined about it also. He’s a dirtbag and trump is a dirtbag for allowing such a lowlife the opportunity to affect that any woman’s life.

Had she caved in to the pressure to be politically correct and, betrayed her beliefs, and therefore won the pageant, it probably would have been gravel in her mouth. I’m proud of you Miss Prejean. Your reward will be much greater than being proclaimed Miss USA. After a year or so, they are forgotten. Your courage and integrity, on the other hand, will endure the test of time. God bless you.

Does anyone else see the irony in her trying to be Biblically correct right after struting in front of millions in a tiny 2 piece bikini? Something tells me Jesus doesn’t exactly approve of His children using their “temple” in such a way. But nevermind that rule, its too applicable to the majority. Those gays are sinners who will burn!! Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
dcwvu on April 21, 2009 at 5:58 PM
Good point, Madison.
The standard for determining acceptable speech is not what some “activist” finds acceptable. A more relevant test is what your employer finds acceptable since they have entire departments devoted to interpreting and navigating through “hate speech” and harassment.
I may not mind being called a “chick” by my friends, but call me one at work and see how fast your rear end is hauled into the HR office.

Getting to her bit was worth suffering though Hilton. My God, there wasn’t one thing Hiton said that even rang close to the truth with me and she was just a charmer. Lauer was very good in this interview. I hate to admit, but very charming to me himself. Fairly done for a chance. It looked like he might almost admire her.

RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)
Again she was just chariming and Perez Hilton was a vulgar a$$.
hawkdriver on April 21, 2009 at 6:02 PM
That’s fine. Go ahead and call 50 Cent a “nigger” or Carlos Mencia a “beaner”. Hey, they both use those words all the time. That makes it okay, even though any average black or mexican person you met would probably deck your inexplicably arrogant puss for doing so.
As long as I’m going to be arguing with you, trust me, I’m not arguing with someone at all more intelligent than I am. I’m going to be arguing with some basement-dwelling pseudo-expert on everything because he probably read it on wikipedia or message boards.

JetBoy on April 21, 2009 at 6:09 PM
I agree she is charming and Hilton was way out of line calling her those names. Nonetheless, it still is very questionaable when earthly men now claim that some rules can be disobeyed and some can’t. The Bible has been unfortunately highly objectified to support certain agendas. It seems now that only the rules that don’t apply to the mainstream religious supporters are the bad ones. When’s the last time you heard an obese preacher talking about God forbidding gluttony? Lets just say not often. Wonder why? I think we all know the answer to that.

Your points are valid. My contention was that a large majority of voters, absent a Constitution, could implement a de facto theocracy, not a de jure one. Obviously, a Christian theocracy would be infinitely better than an Islamic one.
However, the U.S. has a Constitution and case law that has been written by men who were shaped by Judeo-Christian values, but who didn’t ultimately tie the body of law back to a “Biblically correct” standard.

There are several verses about modesty, but it is a ridiculous excuse to demand Scripture using “bikinis” and you know it.
Bigot Rule #4 — Demand Scritbure anecodotes that you know can’t actually be presented.
Next you wil demand a Scripture verse that talks about how evil Apple Ipods are..demanding those exact words.

What a shame the way Miss California has been treated by the Miss USA pageant. She was in effect discriminated against by a very vulgar, homosexual activist who asked her a loaded question and penalized her because her answer didn’t fit in with his agenda.
What a black mark on the Miss USA pageant. Miss California will always be known as the person who lost because she was discriminated against by a filthy swine who had no business judging her.
OxyCon on April 21, 2009 at 6:30 PM
Here is something that might address the evening gown part of a pageant.
“And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes.” 1 Timothy 2:9

Mommypundit on April 21, 2009 at 6:34 PM
Better try than the troll I’ll admit. The modesty spoken of in Timothy has to do with plainness also. It doesn’t specifically say skin exposure is immodest.
Here’s a question. As a Christian, should I not be allowed to view the nude human form? I’m not a doctor. I’m actually a helicopter pilot but I’m an artist too. When I retire, art will be my livelihood. To model the human form (even clothed) correctly, I have to have as complete an understanding of the human form in both the anatomical and tertiary sense. Does that make me immoral to study it? Can the model be a Christian and still be moral?

Opportunism, pure and simple.
budfox on April 21, 2009 at 6:48 PM
While it is true that beauty contests are secular by nature, it is also true that there are a LOT of young Christian women around the country that enter those contests with the hope that they can use any winnings that they might receive to fund their college education. Sarah Palin is a case-in-point. One of my nieces did likewise. She managed to graduate from college debt free. That’s better than I did (some 30+ years ago) and it is better than my 23-year-old son is doing now (who will graduate this year with $15,000 of debt).
You can criticize these girls for being “unholy” or “unrighteous” hypocrites if you like, but could YOU survive the same level of scrutiny with regards to your OWN life history? While God is holy, and righteous with respect to all things in His own heavenly realm, the history recorded in the Bible strongly suggests that when it comes to His dealings with human beings here on planet Earth, He is the consummate pragmatist. He has set aside His righteous judgement for the time being in order to show us His grace. His mercy and compassion for us while we are yet sinners trumps all else.

Wait–didn’t you just say that there were several verses about modesty? Well which is it?
Methinks you haven’t read the book in question in a while and your pride won’t let you admit it which is why you’re spraying all that “bigot” ink. Go ahead and read it. It won’t burn your hands.
baldilocks on April 21, 2009 at 6:53 PM
And if you are called upon to paint, say, the Cistine Chapel it would come in handy.
Nudity doesn’t seem to be a problem but lustfulness is. Painting a beautiful woman in art class would be OK, but someone else looking at a beautiful woman in a strip club would be more problematic.
dedalus on April 21, 2009 at 6:54 PM
What is immodest if not walking around in public practically naked then? Both men and women should not be wearing reveling clothes that could unnecessarily cause their neighbor to lust after them and sin.
If there is a question of whether its a sin or not, how about you just model something else besides naked women and you do not have to worry about it. I mean seriously, is that really necessary.
NeverLiberal on April 21, 2009 at 6:57 PM
I’m glad other Christians can feel like that about art. I never use life models. There are model reference books that cover (no pun intended) the subject in 360 degrees. I don’t think the human form is any more immoral than anything in this world if it isn’t lusted after.
I work in clay. The final figurines in urethane.

dedalus on April 21, 2009 at 7:06 PM
Your talking about something someone else created. Obviously there is some doubt in your mind about whether what your doing is unrighteous or not. Whatsoever is not done in faith is sin. If you have doubt, then do not do it. Its as simple as that.
NeverLiberal on April 21, 2009 at 7:07 PM
Well, you know it’s not a sin. There’s no commandment about it.
The finished piece is never a nude. As a matter of fact, it’s normally a miltary theme with a lot of equipment aloso. But the form underneath the clothing and the equipment has to be accurate for realism.
