Video: Lila Rose exposes yet another PP clinic breaking the law

posted at 2:11 pm on April 20, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

The Mona Lisa Project continues with its sixth in a series of undercover videos showing Planned Parenthood deliberately breaks state laws on reporting child abuse and statutory rape. This time, Lila Rose went to Memphis, where state law requires health-care providers to notify the state when they discover a sexual relationship between an adult and a minor 14 years of age or younger. Does Planned Parenthood call the cops, or teach Lila to lie about it so she can get her abortion?

Yes, that’s a completely rhetorical question:

We now have six videotaped examples of Planned Parenthood obstructing justice by coaching its patients to lie about their circumstances so that they can ring the cash register on the abortion. Thus far, we have only one confirmed state investigation into PP practices, in Indiana, where the AG has video of two different instances of Planned Parenthood covering up sexual abuse of minors.

Congress should strip Planned Parenthood of all federal funding while they continue to violate laws enacted to protect children and adolescents from sexual exploitation by adults. And how many data points will the Department of Justice need before they start considering this a RICO conspiracy to break state laws in order to maximize sales?

Investigations are hard to conduct because of medical privacy laws. It is better to say that it is not the role of government to fund PP.

I think there are misprision laws remaining on the books, but this requires actual efforts to cover up, if I recall correctly. Still, this is disturbing.

DrSteve on April 20, 2009 at 2:21 PM

Sigh.

Yeah, Ed–you are right. We SHOULD be stripping money and throwing people in prison.

What we’ll get is Lila thrown in jail instead, and Planned Parenthood getting a billion dollars for their “vital work.” It’s another case of right being called wrong and wrong being right–the innocent being punished and the guilty going free because of their money and politics.

In a world governed by laws and logical thinking, you would be correct. Unfortunately we don’t live in that world so instead we will be increasing PP funding.

Touché, Ed!

Do not ignore the government’s ready record acting upon one unsubstantiated anonymous message to intrude into homes to divide parents from children, whether there is cause or not, taking the legitimate basis of child protection into the illegitimate realm of governmental child abuse.

So easy to attack the individual citizen or family regardless of charged merit rather than address an organization with ready substantiated evidence proving corruption because the government owes favors, quid quo pro, organization:organization, politician:board member.

It is appaling that a nation that promotes the defense of the innocent, the sacredness of human life, and the pursuit of it has engaged in the mindless slaughter of 41 million.

If most Americans heard about these cases, they’d recognize that the PP workers are trying their best to solve difficult moral problems in an imperfect world. They may disagree with the PP worker’s decisions, but they wouldn’t attribute their actions to malice or greed. It’s frankly silly to claim that the PP workers just wanted their clinics to make an extra buck.

I find it astonishing that after several of these hidden videos and an investigation in Indiana, anyone from PP would make such a comment.

Either the situation presented in the video happens frequently and this is the PP policy to handle it, or they have no fear because the Libocrats will cover for the abortion industry no matter what.

Or PP staff is just plain fricking stupid.

This practice by PP, be it approved or simply understood, needs to stop and violators prosecuted.

jack herman on April 20, 2009 at 2:44 PM

The only way to get this acted on is to act on it. Send this video to your congresscreeps tell them no fed funding should be given to planned parenthood until they comply with the laws. Send it to the networks. Blog it,make it a hit on youtube and speak out. Do not speak out as antiabortion, but speak out as these places are breaking the laws set forth by their own states and the atty gens of those states are obligated to investigate. Demand that. Ask the opposition the simple question,if this was your 14 yr old daughter being molested by a 31 yr old man-wouldnt you want to know? Its all I can suggest. Silence allows these places to do the same ol business.

Congress should strip Planned Parenthood of all federal funding while they continue to violate laws enacted to protect children and adolescents from sexual exploitation by adults.

Perfect.

You will have less success saying the government shouldnt be funding planned parenting. Our government doesnt just fund pp here in the U.S.,it funds it everywhere. PP is a fact of death that many of us hope wouldnt have to exist, but it does. They should be made to follow the laws whether or not they are federally funded, but pulling their fed funding would certainly encourage them to take less gambles with thier clientele.

canditaylor68 on April 20, 2009 at 2:55 PM

I’ll give Ms. Rose the benefit of the doubt that she turns in unedited versions of these recordings to the authorities. I’m just making the point that some editing should be expected when posting a concise video for public consumption – and that it’s possible to hear the words being spoken with a little effort (as opposed to just reading the transcript).

Abortion aside for a moment – It’s horrible that these PP employees can get away with covering up these felonies (and a 31yo man having sex with a 14yo is, among other things, child abuse). I was once investigated because my daughter had a frakking diaper rash (and was reported anonymously and maliciously), and yet these people are not being investigated for real crimes when there is actual evidence of wrong-doing. Something is rotten here, and it’s not just the spliced audio.

Anna on April 20, 2009 at 2:58 PM

canditaylor68 on April 20, 2009 at 2:55 PM

Look, everybody knows that the reason that people here want to pull PP funding is because they are pro-life. Nobody is going to be fooled about this. Nobody. It like saying that evangelicals object to homosexuality because it may lead to AIDS. Non starter I am afraid.

Stop the farce. What bothers you about PP is what they do for a living. It is not this tape.

Chekote on April 20, 2009 at 3:16 PM

Actually, what bothers most folks is that PP is providing murder for hire.

It is one thing to have to consider that an abortion might be medically needed in an isolated case. It is quite another to offer to provide that service, carte blanche, for a rather large amount of money. Most abortions average $1000.00 and when you consider that your local clinic might do the “procedure” 10-12 times a day, well, that’s some serious cash flow.

So, yeah, besides the fact that it’s murder, the whole arrogance of greed comes into play. I would suggest that folks who believe as you are in need of some serious counseling, but I doubt that it would do any good. You’d have to have some concept of morals and ethics first, and those who support abortions are sadly lacking in both those areas.

katiejane on April 20, 2009 at 3:04 PM

That it’s such an astoundingly bad idea for a 14 year old girl to have a child is the problem that the workers are trying to solve. Since it’s the primary theme of Ann Coulter’s last book, it’s fair to say that except for the pro-life zealots, Americans understand the issues motivating the PP workers. And if there is a shred of human empathy among the pro-life zealots they too can figure out the dilemma faced by the PP workers.

thuja on April 20, 2009 at 3:30 PM

Simple yardstick to measure the logic and honesty in this conversation: Are you more outraged that a 16-year-old might have to tell their parents before they have an 18-week-old fetus surgically removed from their uterus, or that Planned Parenthood personnel are on tape aiding and abetting statutory rape?

The answer tells us all we need to know.

I am OT a bit but I am sick and tired of hearing that a majority of voters voted FOR President Obama…from what I saw during the election and the last mid-terms is that people more likely voted against the Bush administration and the fact that the Republican party turned into a a kind of Dem-lite party. With as few visible differences between the two parties and all the problems we had over the last couple years the odds were against any Rep candidate winning or any Dem losing…when times are tough and there is no real difference between parties the party out of power usually wins.
Now about this tape and PP regardless of where you stand as far as pro-life or pro-choice the fact that this person aided in covering up a felony is very concerning to me. I have to ask what is the difference between Planned Parenthood and a Pedo ring if both facilitate the cover of of child molestation? I am not sure there is a difference.

Its foolish mind has been darkened. There is no need to communicate with those who are filled with hate and love death. It cannot be honest or coherent.

daesleeper on April 20, 2009 at 4:35 PM

And what does Meghan McCain have to say on the subject?

JeffinOrlando on April 20, 2009 at 4:47 PM

Give it a rest and focus on our country going bankrupt.

Worry about the money, it’s Soooo much more important than the babies.

Siddhartha Vicious on April 20, 2009 at 3:42 PM

See, but they both work out. Reduce the size of the future population, and that means that fewer people will be saddled with the unprecedented debt that BiggieO is handing off to future generations to deal with.

See what I did there? It’s called Liberal Logic. It’s the same premise as “Don’t you understand that the State of Lincoln will receive $50 billion dollars…?”. Forget how that money is raised, or from where…just focus on the positive!

CatsGodot on April 20, 2009 at 5:26 PM

could recite a practically infinite list of Christian charities which have built orphanages, sent ministry teams to provide healthcare, donated funds to provide meals to impoverished children, and also highlight the cases of children who have been adopted into loving homes.

Fine. But are there still kids suffering? How about in Darfur? Are there still kids suffering? Why not fully take care of every born child? I mean this is about the children.

Chekote on April 20, 2009 at 3:56 PM

That’s one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read. What’s upsetting is that it’s not the first time I’ve heard the same sentiment. Why not kill ‘em all until the world is a paradise? One cannot reason with a person who eschews reason.
That’s one of the biggest problems we have to deal with. We cannot hold discussion with those who have rejected even the most fundamental principles concerning human life.

So, everyone can choose which law they should obey?

Chekote on April 20, 2009 at 3:56 PM

Heck, just kill them all; it stops their suffering.

Johan Klaus on April 20, 2009 at 5:55 PM

I wonder. Will laws protecting minors from abuse by adults be one of the laws that Obama will get rid of in order to protect abortion?

MarkTheGreat on April 20, 2009 at 2:21 PM

Well he seems to want to be chummy with Islamic rulers, who have no problem marrying off 8 year old girls.

It isn’t enough for these monsters to salivate, at the taking of an innocent human life. No! They have to go even further, and exploit the underaged mother. How sick does one have to be, before people start waking up to this, and the fact that we as tax payers, are being forced to help pay for this?!?!?!?!

capejasmine on April 20, 2009 at 6:03 PM

Hillary was proclaiming her admiration of Margaret Sanger the other day. It would be nice if someone asked her about that related to this.

echosyst on April 20, 2009 at 6:08 PM

Except public school teachers don’t prented to do God’s work. Tiny difference.

Chekote on April 20, 2009 at 4:19 PM

No the public school teachers who molest children are pretending to work for the government. Im not a christian here buddy.Whats your point. Are you saying the rapist priests are worse than the rapist school teachers? Dont bet on it. The betrayal of trust is the same, no matter who you purport your god to be.

canditaylor68 on April 20, 2009 at 6:13 PM

They are doing the work of angels. That PP worker should be fired. This is truly sick to have tax money going to people to protect child molesters and kill innocent children before they even take their first breath. Stop the slaughter now!

You spouse cheats on you with a stranger vs. your spouse cheating on you with your best friend. Which is the biggest betrayal? Or we you feel the same since both situation involved adultery?

Chekote on April 20, 2009 at 7:12 PM

So much for “beyond reasonable doubt”. You got a heavily edited video and you have already convicted everybody. I am sure your are one of those Rule of Law people too.

Chekote on April 20, 2009 at 4:21 PM

I haven’t “convicted” anybody. That’s for the courts to decide. I do have eyes and a brain, and when there is video evidence (even if “heavily edited”) from multiple clinics in multiple states demonstrates a similar practice, I possess the logical faculties to determine that this is policy (official or unofficial).

At this point, the evidence is pretty overwhelming that PP is training or allowing its employees to break reporting laws. It’s up to prosecutors to prove this in a court of law, but PP has a need to prove this isn’t their policy in the court of public opinion.

cs89 on April 20, 2009 at 7:23 PM

Chekote on April 20, 2009 at 7:12 PM

The same. Cheating is cheating, rape is rape, murder is murder.

canditaylor68 on April 20, 2009 at 8:52 PM

…I am bored with this issue. The majority of Americans are bored with it. The only people interested are right wing blogs.

Chekote on April 20, 2009 at 2:44 PM

Except that you’re not, Chekote. Whenever an abortion thread gets posted, there you are, all day long, telling us that abortion isn’t immoral, that we should be worrying about more important things (as you estimate them, of course), spouting party line canards (we don’t care about children after they’re born) that are patently purulent.

This is no paid-by-the-word KosKid, folks, this is psychopathology on display.

Chekote, no amount of blog-commenting is going to change our minds that abortion is evil. And furthermore, it’s not going to change your mind either.

It’s obvious that down in your heart you know the truth too. It’s your refusal to deal consciously with that, that drives you to continually try to apologize for abortion and for PP.

Dubya Bee on April 20, 2009 at 10:06 PM

Abortion is immoral.
.
Not reporting child molesters is immoral, and illegal.
.
Planned Parenthood does both, so of course the libtards love them.
