Let’s say George Bush was your landlord or the bank holding your mortgage. You’d agreed on a price for the rent/mortgage every month. Then, Bush sold the house/mortgage note to Obama, who then came in and doubled your monthly payment. Are you going to tell me you’d just sit there and take it?

This whole line about “why weren’t you protesting Bush’s deficits” is asinine for that very reason.

In addition, even if there were some amount of leeway granted to Bush that wasn’t granted to Obama, that’s hardly a one-way street that only the GOP has traveled on. In just the first few months, Obama’s been given passes on things that Bush never would have been.

Finally, the pace at which Obama has been racking up debt had undoubtedly awoken a sense of political awareness in some heretofore apolitical people. Given that the guy is on TV every five minutes touting some trillion-dollar spending plan he’s trying to pass, I would dare say that more than a few people said “Now WTF is this all about?”, did a little digging and decided they didn’t really approve of the whole approach and decided to get involved. Hell, I went to a Tea Party and I never go to anything like that, so I know that there were others coming off the sidelines and into the game, so to speak.

But, if you want to persist in your superficial “sore loozers” analysis, go right ahead. The dog barks and the caravan moves on.

Reading comments from liberals like strangelet always fills me with a renewed appreciation for the awesome power of George W. Bush. The guy’s been out of office for four months, after running silent and deep for the better part of his second term – but he’s still got more control over the economy than Barack Obama, the transformational Lightworker. Despite the fact that conservatives were never happy about Bush’s $450 billion deficits, we’re supposed to admit some kind of hypocrisy because we dare to object to Obama’s endless trillion-dollar-plus deficits, which will make Bush’s fiscal irresponsibility look like a rounding error within a year or two.

And don’t forget that blithering idiots like Matt Yglesias think Bush is responsible for terrorist attacks that occurred ten years before he took office. Bush was such a master of subtle intrigue that he turned America into a jackbooted police state without anyone except the enlightened Left even noticing – a vast and terrible machinery of oppression that vanished without a trace on January 20, 2009, leaving not the slightest clue as to their current whereabouts. Bush’s astonishing powers of psychic domination enabled him to force almost the entire Democrat party into supporting his absurd and doomed war in Iraq, a feat that even Charles Xavier would envy. He could control the weather, too, sending a hurricane to commit genocide on the blacks of New Orleans, even as his invisible repression commandos dynamited the levies. Top liberal conspiracy theorists still debate whether this was the same team of super-ninjas that planted the charges to bring the World Trade Center down on September 11th.

When he wasn’t amusing himself with Bond-villain schemes to control the world, Bush was a dazzling master of congressional politics, able to pervert the noble Fannie Mae into a cash machine for his invisible, untraceable fat cat buddies, tricking proud statesmen like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd into ferociously defending a system that was collapsing into a black hole beneath their very noses. His subprime looting spree was a plan so insidious, so fearfully complex, that top Democrats turn white and flee into elevators when asked to explain exactly how it worked. Bush’s political skills were so subtle that he was able to trick the entire Democrat Party into acting like worse-than-useless, seditious imbeciles all the way through the War on Terror. His mastery of the dark arts of torture and oppression enabled him to forge a dungeon at Guantanamo Bay that even the Lightworker was surprisingly timid about shutting down, and his Ringwraiths have so terrified President Obama that he still allows them to stalk the halls of the Pentagon, stammering confused apologies to his liberal base about how he might still need their sinister skills someday.

To hear a liberal talk, Bush is a towering figure who casts shadows both before and after his term. Obama and his congressional allies are helpless children, able to do nothing except bow deeply and smile like idiots when they have audiences with foreign despots, humbly begging them to stay their vengeance now that the dark titan they were terrified of has vacated the White House. As he returns home from a world tour in which he failed to talk anyone into anything, with his most memorable achievements being a propaganda photo-op for a Communist dictator and boosting the Amazon.com ranking of a fraudulent anti-American tract, I wonder if Obama is only days away from adding another chapter to the monumental legacy of George W. Bush by trying to blame him for something else that Obama is powerless to deal with. I also wonder if Obama ever contemplates the witless old fool he took as a running mate, and wonders if the equally legendary, totemic Dick Cheney ever thinks about switching parties.
