Quote of the day

“Here’s the thing; everything Janeane said is what people on the left already think. They have been saying it right to your face, in creative ways, for years. Remember when the candidate Obama repeatedly spoke about his being a long shot for the election because ‘he has a funny name’ or because he ‘doesn’t look like those other presidents on our money,’ what do you think he was saying? He was saying that a large portion of our country is racist. He was talking about you. He was trying to shut his critics up even before they started. And it worked. Almost no one called him on it.

So don’t get upset when someone says it out loud. You should be glad someone finally said it-now you can answer the charge. You don’t want to have to answer the charge? Why not? It’s out there.”

I had a John Cole conversion to sanity.

Which is probably why you are still not banned.

I’ve never understood and WILL never understand the minority support for the Democratic Party. It is completely irrational. Just starting with the Eugenic Genocide that is Government funded abortion where the majority are performed on African Americans, down to the forced addiction to government assistance enslaving minorities in huge numbers to the State — it is like a wife continuing to return to the Spouse that beat her. Why can’t they break the cycle and reach for a party that – when it’s on track – always provides more jobs and raises the wealth level of generations. The “comfort level” of the Democratic philosophy is an illusion and it comes at terrible price.

The race wars, the class wars, these have been proven to be a tactic of the Alinsky Crew designed to keep the population disunited and disorganized. A chaotic populace is much easier to manipulate. Garafalo is a tool. Don’t let her and her kind direct the conversation. We are all Americans – and that’s what matters.

I look at every raced baited conversation with cynicism. They serve no purpose other than to keep us fighting each other rather than the people in power who are destroying our – OUR country. If we let this happen then we deserve to lose it and I think people should know why.

Re: hicsuget’s inference that racism in Mississippi stems from Republicanism, I’ll contribute this interesting quote from the book “How Barack Obama Won”: “Mississippi, like the rest of the South, voted almost exclusively with the Democratic Party until the Democratic-sponsored civil rights legislation of the 1960s.”

I’ve lived all over the Eastern half of the country, from Alabama to New York, and in my experience, there is every bit as much racism in the North as in the South, and among Democrats as well as among Republicans. South Boston and Howard Beach come to mind.

KyMouse on April 21, 2009 at 7:58 AM

That’s the problem. People are unwilling to declare that [RACISM]’s over. It’s done. The number of Americans who believe one race is inferior to another is so small that they are not worth discussing. They are silly people. And they have no power.

I like Morgan Freeman’s position. On “60 Minutes” a few years ago, he declared Black History Month “ridiculous,” prompting this question:

Mike Wallace: But how are we going to get rid of racism?

Morgan Freeman: Stop talking about it.

I like that. Let’s just stop talking about it. But in order to stop talking about it we are going to have to talk about it for a little while. To declare that it is over. It has gone away.

Oh yes Johan, the NYT is so “not very successful now” it only won five Pulitzer prizes this year.

benny shakar on April 21, 2009 at 2:30 AM

Pulitzers? So what. They are given as a pat on the back for correct political position, not for artistic value. Pulitzers have become as debased as the Nobel Peace Prize.

docob on April 21, 2009 at 8:08 AM

Pulitzers are like doggie treats for your pet who doesn’t urinate on the rug. They reinforce the lemmings view of theirselves in order to feel relevant in their misconceived perception of reality. Nothing more, nothing less. Are you really impressed with that type of inconsequential symbolism. if you are, brainwashed lemming is what the mirror is revealing to you.

benny shakar on April 21, 2009 at 2:30 AM

Fail.

Pulitzer Prizes are given to individual journalists. The New York Times is a business, a corporate entity, within which many individual journalists operate. The NYT is no more responsible for the ability/intelligence/etc that warranted a Pulitzer than the Chicago Bulls organization was for Jordan’s 5 MVPs.

Businesses (like the NYT) are successful when they make money. Not when people they employ get gold stars.

Even though I didn’t vote for him, I appreciate the fact that we DID elect a black president–in theory. I just wish it wasn’t THIS black president. I wish it were a fully capable black president who could make us proud of more than just the fact that we elected him.

To Tom Shillue: you say she’s funny? Well I’m not laughing. Its my belief that its best to simply ignore this sort of trash. If you and HotAir want to waste valuable blog space on someone like this, well that is your business. IMHO, its time to begin to tune out the left and get on with the business of salvaging this Nation. DD

Garafalo removes all doubt that flaming bigotry is alive and well with the brainwashed lemmings who populate the extreme left. Tom Shillue says it best. When you waste time on human trash like Garafalo, it takes away from the time you can use to salvage this nation.

Somebody made a big mistake when Janeane was young by telling her she was smart. She’s never gotten over it.

curved space on April 21, 2009 at 9:23 AM

Good point. Most of us acknowledge that the Left considers conservatives to be racist. It’s about time we challenged that assumption. It goes hand-in-hand with our opinion on spending. If we run on a small-government platform in 2010, we’re sure to hear “you don’t care about the plight of the urban poor” which is code for “you’re racist”.

The truth is, there are some racist conservatives. There’s also some racist liberals. Most conservatives couldn’t care less what color you are. More to the point, we’re not going to use governments power to tax and spend in order to throw money at an ethnic group in order to garner votes. And we’re not going to claim “compassion” by spending money on programs that won’t help the people they’re aimed at (you know, like public schools).

Education is a perfect example of the arguments in play. Conservatives want charter schools. Liberals say that’s racist. Instead of stopping there, we should say “why are we RACIST for giving poor people more options? What’s racist about wanting black children to attend better schools?”

The left creates their own enemies because if they do not have enemies they have no friends.

They intentionally create discord, in order to claim intellectual superiority.

Be the first to call them a racist/prejudice and watch them come totally unglued because they do not know how to argue from a defensive position. Keep them on the defensive and they disappear like a salted slug.

Bill Cosby would make a better black president than Barack Obama, because Cosby wants black men to take responsibility for themselves and their families. Which is why he didn’t get elected.

Exactly. It’s why teenagers tend to be liberal. It’s why liberals think they’re smart; when you already know everything, you have no need to use critical thinking or learn anything new.

Janeane conjures three adjectives; imbecilic, narcissistic, trollop. What’s truly sad for an alleged “entertainer”, is that she has probably been seen by more people on HA in the past month than anywhere else in the past five years.

No…the Libs love scapegoating like Hitler, and Stalin did to minorities……and they are and were all Socialist….
The Confederates were Democrats who supported Slavery…
And now they want to enslave the US population through
taxes as regulation.

Conservatives don’t need to scapegoat, they would rather
fight in the arena of ideas or on a battlefield defending
this country.

dec5 on April 21, 2009 at 1:14 PM

Democrats are the worst racists on the planet. Why? Because anyone who brings up the subject of race is a racist. Why? Because there is no such thing as race. There is no biological or genetic reason to divide humans into races based on their physical appearance or any other attribute. Race is a political and social construct, invented by the power-seeking class to divide and rule over the rest of humanity.

Biologically, all humans are the same – there is no difference. Genetically, different ethnic groups are related but you can’t tell who is related to whom based on apperance.

Mitochondrial and y-chromosome DNA studies have proven that modern humans originated in Africa about 120,000 years ago. About 60,000 years ago a first wave left Africa, migrated eastwards along a southern route and ended up as far afield as Australia, New Guinea and Japan (the Ainu). Then, 10,000 years later, another wave left Africa and headed east and north, ending up in northern Asia and Europe.

Knowing this, consider the supposed “Black Race.”

The dark-skinned peoples of Australia and New Guinea are from the first wave out of Africa and are more distantly related to modern Africans than the lighter skinned Norwegians of the second wave. If two groups share a common race, it’s more likely to be Norwegians and Kenyans than New Guineans and Kenyans.

Then consider the “White Race.”

The light skinned Ainu of Japan were always thought to be caucasian but according to the DNA studies, they belong to the first wave and should belong to the same race as New Guineans, not Norwegians.

The whole idea of “race” is ridiculous.
