Video: Palin chokes up talking about Trig’s birth
posted at 3:05 pm on April 17, 2009 by Allahpundit
Exceptionally sweet — which only makes the Great Trig Pregnancy Cover-up that much more nefarious. This clip will come back to haunt her when amateur obstetrician/Hardy Boy Andrew Sullivan finally blows the lid off the case.
Even CNN’s compelled to say that she “rocked the house” at last night’s pro-life fundraiser in Indiana. Conservatives4Palin has video of the entire speech; if you can’t spare the time, watch this clip and the quickie at David Brody’s site. I’m surprised that AOL is the only major media outlet (so far) to seize on her admission that she considered — fleetingly — aborting Trig when she first realized she was pregnant. Like Geraghty says, “Pro-lifers will love her all the more, because she contemplated what they see as a great evil, felt the temptation, and resisted it,” but the left will seize on the fact that, even if only for an instant, America’s favorite hockey mom was glad she had a choice. In fact, they’re seizing on it already.

Not your fault. Its not like Libertarians are any better. There’s faults and unnecessary ‘off limit’ policy options that plague all the major parties and prevailing ideologies.
none of the major political figures or movements have the stones and/or the clout to do truly transformative things. and i think we can all agree, liberals conservatives whoever, that our ideal governments would require a true transformation to achieve. why buy into ‘conservatism’ or ‘liberalism’ or ‘libertarianism’ if they will never go the extra mile to put government where we want it?

The fact that the media reports so much personal information about politicians really disturbs. Why the hell do we need to know when Sarah Palin’s water broke? It’s really creepy.
terryannonline on April 17, 2009 at 7:02 PM
because the whole world has gone mad. you see it in things like that. in things like going to protest a legitimate issue and getting sexual innuendo spewed at you from twerps behind desks on television. in things like fox news’ morning show. i can go on.

Because we harbor the hope that party affiliation will garner some of the societal objectives we want.
Conservatism to me, means looking for other solutions to abortion.
It means strict adherence to the tenets of The Constitution.
Safe Streets and strong borders with a strong ability for national defense.
To me, it’s really the last hope for the freedom to worship as I please without some misunderstanding that somehow public displays of your beliefs are counter to the concept of the separation of church and state.
And most of all, if we truly return to our Conservative roots, we’ll do away with handouts and return to a society where anyone has the chance to succeed if they work hard.
Smaller government and lower taxes.

Go Sarah!

The media has this arrogant attitude that everything is their “right” to know. No it’s not. Believe it or not voters can still make decisions about who to vote for without know every single detail of their life.

C,mon Sarah, We just got rid of a crying President. Stay tough.

Oh darn…Marcus left.
I wanted to get his opinion as a “sane” obgyn…
I was going to ask him….if he personally would recommend….that a 44 year old mother who had already had 4 vaginal deliveries, was a carrying a down’s baby, and was 5 weeks early should delay going to a hospital after her water broke.
You see….my dad told me time in labor is roughly halved for each successive delivery.
/sigh
I guess we will never know.

all id argue is that a strict adherence to the constitution is something that partisan republicans don’t ever seem capable of pursuing. in the pursuit of “safe streets and a strong national defense” republicans seem far too willing to become very selective with the constitution. they seem almost more shy of the constitution than I would prefer, which is why i mentioned libertarianism earlier.
but i suppose that all your other priorities are served fairly well by republicans. personally ill never seek a government that makes those kind of social decisions, im certain of that now.

It’s so convenient that your dad was an OB. Many ladies would probably have stories that were contrarian to this opinion.

Who cares about politics, she’s no doubt saved some lives with her words.

What a fantastic woman and strong leader.
It feels good to support someone of her values and abilities.

Seriously we debating whether or not she should have gotten on the plane and flown home again?
Er, her doctor told her it would be fine.
Her doctor was right, she made it all the way home on two flights before spending a few hours in the hospital and then Trig came.
This debate is a perfect example of why universal health care is a horrible idea. Everybody becomes a doctor and thinks they know best. It is like everyone stayed at a Holiday Express Inn last night.
These types of decisions should be made between a patient and their doctor. Not a patient, a doctor and 300 million Americans that you are splitting your health care costs with. The 300 million people you share your coverage with have an opinion on what, where, why and how you should receive medical care.
I promise you this, I don’t want some of the folks on this thread having any say over my medical care!
I remember some lunkhead, I am not sure who, actually implied that Sarah Palin’s flight in that airplane may have caused Trig’s special needs challenges. Good grief.

What didn’t you know that Air Travel can change your genetics?

Take it from a woman who could not have children, they are a gift. Sarah Palin is right about that.

strangelet:
What the hell business of yours is it, when Sarah Palin got on a plane? I mean really.
Terrye on April 17, 2009 at 8:30 PM
Yea- I guess I missed that part of medical training when I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express last night.
kcarpenter on April 17, 2009 at 8:34 PM
Nope….I’m done here.
This is much more fun.

bad, bad, bad. though im not sure how they can get so riled up every time, knowing you’re just playing a game they can’t win.
though i do think theres someone in there somewhere that likes to discuss current events, but you’ve just gotta cheer up and take a step back. whats got you so down? do i need to buy you a drink or something?
ernesto on April 17, 2009 at 8:48 PM
The irony is all this attention on Gov. Palin’s uterus is the same group that makes signs that say “Keep Your Beliefs Off My Uterus” in support of murder via abortion.
SouthernGent on April 17, 2009 at 10:04 PM
Indeed. Cluelessness is your lot in life.
littleguy on April 18, 2009 at 12:52 AM
Didn’t they say Trig wasn’t her child, anyway? The left will sieze on anything, like rabid dogs. A rolled-up paper to the nose should set them straight.
littleguy on April 18, 2009 at 1:00 AM

The statute of limitations has run out, I am sure. I knew several classmates at the University of Michigan who had abortions in the 60s when it was dead flat illegal in Michigan. Rich ones left the country and got it somewhere else. Those with less money found a part time abortionist obstetrician working out of “an unspecified place NOT their nice sanitary offices”. Those with even less money had the hoary old coat hanger as their friend. If they wanted it they got it.
So even if we were ill advised enough to make a national (or even state) law against abortion women would still contemplate it if they felt they needed it.
Young (and old) men (and women) contemplate drugs which are illegal and seem to have no trouble getting them. But they are illegal and they are contemplated if fleetingly by any body as they grow up.
Contemplating stupidity is not the same as supporting it. I’ve contemplated a lot of things I’ve never done. I just have this thing about preventing people from being stupid if they want to. It’s part of the “get the fricken government out of my life” thing.

Thanks for this story, AP. I know I’m a “Palin fan” with all that means, but it is nice to see a Palin thread that isn’t snarky or negative.
I did see this comment in the CNN story linked above:
Really?
