Video: 16-year-old rocks Philly tea party

Precocious populist ambrosia via America’s Right. I look forward to him and Jonathan Krohn giving stemwinders like this on the House floor circa 2040. In the meantime, can someone please pull him aside and make him lose the bowtie? Trust me, kid: You start out that way and before you know it you’re a 60-year-old man in yellow golf pants, battling a wedgie and muttering nuttily about denim under your breath.

make him lose the bowtie?

I thought the golden rule of the Beta Males was:

1) Never criticize another beta male.

blatantblue on April 17, 2009 at 5:46 PM

Fred Astaire once had a dance off with the Devil. Loser had to put their name on a vacuum.

I was there. The kid gave a good speech. I have to say that the video makes it look a lot nicer, weather-wise, than it was. It was raining and absolutely freezing.

Kid is obviously a right wing extremist with an assault rifle hidden under his jacket and a desire to murder the first black cop he sees.

Why else would he be protesting a tax plan which is fair, unbiased and provides for the goodness of all?

“Tea Party Fallout: Independents Turned Off, GOP Worried”

“Independents” will be even more worried when

A. older independents realize that they will not get all of their social security and medicare “benefits” when they reach retirement

B. younger independents will be overtaxed to pay even the declining entitlement benefits

C. they realize that they should have understood what the tea party protests are/were about – a grass roots protest against the sell out of the American dream and its future, under such overwhelming debt that people now have to work for the Government and pay all of their income to it.

The Levithan has grown so monstrously big, that the Republic is in serious danger of being a mirror image of what it fought so valiantly against – a tyrannical central government that destroys the very idea of liberty

There’s still plenty of time for him to switch over to the staid phallic neck enhancers after he turns 21.

I’m assuming that was Grandma helping him turn the pages of his speech. Look, you can tell Jesse Civello’s a good kid and I think he probably wore the bowtie for her. That’s nice. Good for him.

How-EV-vah, the next video Jesse’s in needs to be sans bowtie to avoid his fashion choices from becoming the focal point among, ahem… “independents,” who will attempt to make the kid out to be a joke.

stenwin77 on April 17, 2009 at 5:54 PM

Of course he is.

As a homeschool dad, I’ve gotta say I dont’ quite understand the fetish in homeschool circles with putting boys in jackets and ties.

It’s a high bar when you’re putting a young kid like that up on the platform–and I’m tired already of the precoutious performace bit. They had an 18 y.o. at the San Antonio party who, while doing a great job, was also straining too hard for a magnum opus. Sure we all cut them slack because of their age, and yeah it’s impressive in a sense, but what really is the point of pushing them out front so fast?

I really do appreciate the civics/political involvement side of the homeschool movement, but there is a sense of grandstanding in the way the kids are put out there. The spotlight moments will be more compelling to the audience at large if they’re not so obviously forced, imho.

TexasDan on April 17, 2009 at 6:50 PM

I don’t know what homeschool circles you run in, but the ones in which I’m involved don’t have this “fetish.” And if they do, so what?

This kid is 16. Don’t you think he could make his own decision to wear a coat and bowtie? He’s the one who has to stand up there and wear it. Obviously he’s comfortable in his attire.

As long as he doesn’t turn out like George Will wagging his finger at those of us who wear denim, it is creative expression in dress. It isn’t my first choice, but I’m fine with it.

A big wart on the nose, if left alone, would show “individuality” and certainly set someone apart. But it’s gotta be removed. Much like a bow tie.

And tell me that’s not a clip-on…

It took some ribbing by Jon Stewart to do, but even Tucker Carlson lost the bow tie…which he considered his “individuality” too.

All bow ties should be burned, and the ashes buried. They just look stupid.

Texas homeschool circles. It’s at every homeschool conference, and particularly apparent at a rally in favor of parent’s rights at the Capitol here in Austin two weeks ago, though it was wholly appropriate there as they were going to congressional offices.

My point is I don’t think the kid did make the decision and/or I sense pressure from the homeschool culture to dress boys/young men this way, even in situations where they are a bit more than overdressed.

Nicely cut, very conservative, suit coat. Probably a self-tie bow tie, from the angle it made with his neck, but he spent a little too much time on it, it would look better not quite so perfect. He needs French cuffs and cuff links. (And if it wasn’t a self-tie, he should learn. He’s supposed to be a grown-up by now, and should tie his own shoes and ties.)

About the only males you’ll find wearing bow-ties (and a tux or dinner jacket doesn’t count, there it’s part of the costume) are individualistic alphas.

Now that I don’t have to wear a tie unless I want to, I’ve discovered (again) that I love wearing a bow tie. I neither need nor want a $200 bib.

htom on April 17, 2009 at 11:26 PM

Fashion seems to be much discussed among bored conservatives. Just an observation. Calling George Will…

petunia on April 18, 2009 at 12:24 AM

Of course. Let’s argue about his bow tie and ignore his patriotic ideas. And you wonder why I left the GOP?

Browncoatone on April 18, 2009 at 1:55 AM

It appears that to be a potential Republican superstar you must be 16 or less in age and not wear a bow tie. Anybody still wonder why Republicans are not getting elected? I think there probably was a reason age 25 was the minimum set for an elected representative and as the perceived maturity and experience for the other elected position increased age minimums went up also.
Home schooling has more upside than down. However, one of the side effects is that if the home is liberal you get liberal ideology and if conservative you get conservative ideology sometimes way left or way right respectively. If there is a lot of political emphasis and the student has speaking ability then they are immediately put on display and are promoted as precocious political heads and the issue of home schooling immediately enters the fray because public schooling can’t produce this quality of student especially a conservative oriented one.
Part of the real issue is what produces leaders or how do we identify them and what can be done through formal education home or away that doesn’t just create partisans talking ideologies?

rsl775 on April 18, 2009 at 11:31 AM

In the meantime, can someone please pull him aside and make him lose the bowtie

Keep the bowtie. It is a trademark. It will make people remember him

Besides, bowties are old men’s symbols only to Old men and their children. To the next generation they are a sign of rebellion

The speech was extremely well constructed to connect to the crowd and their purpose. If this young man wrote that speech, I think he has brilliant potential in politics. He would be the communicator that Jindal is not

It is so refreshing to hear a speech not composed by a RINO or a Leftist

I wish he could come to my state and run for Senator.

I would vote for him now as he exceeds the coherence level of most people in politics today

Thanks for posting the clip. I am saving the clip, and his name
