Finally: Obama and Evil Clown grip and grin
posted at 7:55 pm on April 17, 2009 by Allahpundit
You wanted it, America, you got it. Via Tapper, the long-awaited meeting between the “destructive force” and the “ignoramus” hath come to pass. There are already a few photos of the encounter at Yahoo News but you have to go to Facebook for the best one. Check out that thousand-watt grin. Funding FARC, imprisoning dissidents, staging wargames with Russia, and of course consolidating dictatorial power — none of it’s enough to ruin a photo op for The One. I hope this at least convinces El Presidente not to throw that Cuba-themed tantrum at the summit that he’s been planning. We deserve something in return for the free propaganda Barry just handed him.
Here’s the video of Chavez calling Bush the devil at the UN two years ago. There’s some common ground for starting a dialogue, I guess.
Update: The Evil Clown wants to be “friends.”

You know, it’s one thing keeping you around for laughs, but this is serious stuff. Your snip and paste talking points regarding the economy were juvenile, yet amusing, like watching a baby crawl into the cat box to play. But, commenting about foreign butchers is for the adults, you go out and play now, I think I hear your mommy calling.
“Getalife” what an appropriate name…oh, and when are you planning on getting one exactly.

Here are some highlights from the State Department report on Venzelua released while at the beginning of the Obama admin.
The government or its agents did not commit any politically motivated killings; however, security forces committed unlawful killings, including summary executions of criminal suspects. In the 12 months through September, the human rights nongovernmental organization (NGO) Venezuelan Program of Action and Education in Human Rights (PROVEA) reported 39 deaths resulting from mistreatment while in custody.
* PROVEA documented 247 unlawful killings by government security forces from October 2007 through September.
* PROVEA recorded four victims of killings allegedly involving police forces in the 12 months through September.
* According to PROVEA, on July 4, 19-year-old Roger Oscar Avila was shot and killed by unknown members of the Caracas Metropolitan Police. Avila, who, according to police officials planned to steal a car at gunpoint, was brought to the Perez Carreno Hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival. Avila’s family members denied police allegations of attempted auto theft, stating that Avila did not know how to drive a car, let alone steal one.
* On July 27, 33-year-old Miguel Baba Barroyeta was placed in custody and sent to the El Rodeo jail. He was shot and killed while in the custody of the National Guard after allegedly insulting a guard.
* On October 23, nine Lara state police officers and two National Guardsmen allegedly kidnapped six persons in Lara State and later tortured and killed them execution style in neighboring Portuguesa State. Five of the victims were minors. The killings reportedly were linked to drug turf battles. At year’s end the Ministry of Interior and Justice had suspended the nine police officers pending further investigations. Formal charges were brought against the 11 suspects on December 18.

This picture will imply to the world that Obama and Chavez are amigo buds of the first order. I believe it will also be recieved as a slap in the face to Colombia. Dude cant even do a normal head of state handshake.
Silver lining: Half the country and millions more around the world will correctly see this as Obama buddying up to unstable crazies with a proven track record of hating America. That means he’s either a clueless rookie or Obama misses Rev. Wright and just wants to hear some friendly talk again. I wonder if the two exchanged Bush jokes.

That’s quite the catalog of horrors. Remember when liberals used to excoriate Reagan for doing business with brutal dictators, just because they were anti-Communist? The liberals certainly don’t.
One of the least appealing aspects of the Obama administration is the way they endlessly spit upon Bush, slipping nasty little asides into speeches, and getting their followers worked up by dragging him out for a beating as a warm-up act. Other, wiser men who held the office before Obama understood the three big reasons you didn’t harp on your predecessor after he was gone: it’s needlessly divisive, because the predecessor’s supporters will see it as unfair and mean-spirited; it’s rude, and the presidency is supposed to be a classy operation; and most of all, it’s provocative to America’s opponents and demoralizing to her allies.
Chavez isn’t just some buffoon who’s been known to make an impolitic remark now and then. He’s a brutal strongman who stands against everything America represents: free enterprise, political liberty, and the rule of law. He leveled childish insults at the American president while he stood on American soil, for the amusement of the same United Nations that America supports with blood and treasure. The proper attitude towards a piece of garbage like Chavez is terse diplomatic contact administered by low-level functionaries, and vigorous assistance to Chavez’ opponents whenever possible. He should be tolerated at best, not embraced. By grinning like an idiot and warmly pumping his hand, Obama delivers America’s submission – “it was cool and funny the way you called my predecessor the devil, and I’m certainly not offended or angry about it.” It’s like a dumbass kid hanging around and laughing with a punk who slashed his old man’s tires, trying to score cool points for himself without realizing what he’s doing to his family’s honor.
Message to Chavez and his allies: a president like Obama is a godsend to you, well worth having at any price. Lucky for you, he’s been known to disable the security software on his campaign web site. If Chavez and his people were among the many shady contributors who pumped all that illegal loot into Obama’s campaign coffers, they got value for their money… and in a high-tech society that prides itself on being open and accessible, and has problems coming to terms with counter-espionage or accusing people of sedition, that is not a good message to be sending to America’s enemies. Some of those enemies might like Barack Obama, but none of them like America any better, just because he’s sitting in the White House for a few years.

The problem is, the asshats taht voted for him think this is what he should be doing. They don’t see Chavez as a tyrant because he hated Bush just as much as they did. The GOP candidate is going to have to make some sense and take him to task so that the educated, intelligent people of this country will realize what he is trying to do to this fine country.
BTW, anyone read ‘Spy’ by Ted Bell? It talks about the jihadists training in central/south America and then moving on in. If the king of camels give amnesty, we might as well hang it up. They have the voting bloc and the terrorists have the open border. Game Set Match.

It is so nice to finally have a President who doesn’t act like a paranoid cowboy jock all the time. I’m not sure why people think that a handshake and a smile – you know, being civil – makes us weak or whatever other pathetic excuse the right gives for always wanting to be a bunch of international pricks. No amount of diplomacy causes our military to somehow shrink or become ineffective. Why not be nice AND strong? OK, then here’s your Wiki link (can’t be less credible than HuffPo, can it?)
The couple were married in 1986 at a wedding paid for by Getty, who had declared that she needed to find Arianna a husband. They moved to Washington, D.C., when he was appointed to serve as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Negotiations Policy. They later established residency in Santa Barbara, California, in order for him to run in 1992 as a Republican for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, which he won by a significant margin. He was a political conservative on most issues. Arianna campaigned for her husband, courting religious conservatives, arguing for smaller government and a reduction in welfare. In 1994 he narrowly lost the race for the U.S. Senate seat from California to incumbent Dianne Feinstein.[3] Arianna and Michael have two daughters: Christina and Isabella.
/wiki/Arianna_Huffington”>The couple divorced in 1997, and in 1998 Michael Huffington revealed that he was bisexual.[4] A 1999 magazine article claimed that Arianna Huffington “entered the marriage… with full knowledge of Michael Huffington’s sexual interests in men”.[5] The financial terms of their divorce agreement remain undisclosed, but Huffington gained most of her wealth from her husband. Arianna Huffington chose to retain her former husband’s surname, although she had been known as Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington during the period of her marriage.
Hey, what changed? Did she really want smaller gov’t? Hmmm…
