Audio: Glenn Beck responds to Rick Sanchez blaming Fox for Pittsburgh cop-killings
posted at 7:10 pm on April 17, 2009 by Allahpundit
I listened to this a few days ago, forgot about it, then remembered it again after Sanchez posted something this afternoon on Twitter about MM supposedly having called him an idiot. She hadn’t — or at least, not recently. Turns out one of her commenters had and somehow a Google News alert picked it up; true to CNN form, he didn’t bother checking with her before making the accusation. (He later apologized, then in response to another comment more or less called her a hater.) If you missed his casual smear last week that Fox News “no doubt” influenced the Jew-hating nut who shot those cops in Pittsburgh, watch that before listening to this. Beck himself doesn’t do much talking: It’s mostly one of his staffers, aghast at the irony of being blamed for people’s deaths by a guy who actually has killed someone.

You should also post Glenn Beck’s response to Charles Johnson of littlegreenfootballs. He did it on Fox News yesterday, it was great.
Complete7 on April 17, 2009 at 7:18 PM
Well…..Beck and Rush are both
pimpingadvertising Alex Jones’ movie on their sites. And Poplawski was a big Alex Jones fan.
strangelet on April 17, 2009 at 7:18 PM
Eh, as a gun owning, FOX watching conservative dude, I’m already being blamed for everything from global warming to burned toast.
I appreciate somone of Beck’s “I don’t give a shiite what people think about me” attitude defending those of us who are being ignored.
Bishop on April 17, 2009 at 7:19 PM
I heard this live and thought it was brilliant the way it played out.
Best 7 minutes of irony I’ve heard in a while.
Love Beck.

Glenn like Rush does, I know it is hard to believe, tell the truth. I love them both. Listen or watch or not.

Charles Johnson has lost his mind.
Rick Sanchez never had one.

“You mean Rick Sanchez of CNN?” Douchebag extraordinaire?

Who cares what the left thinks . . . let them whine, cry, slobber and wet themselves. Give them hell Glenn.

Why do they keep saying cnn?? I thought Rick Sanchez worked for MSNBC.

Damn, did I just type that?
Leaping lizards but did enjoy reading “joewilson” at the lgf.
getalife on April 17, 2009 at 7:24 PM
Wow. I don’t know how I feel about this. I guess these guys are pretty unhappy about being wrongly accused. Did Glen know they would do this… cuz this is pretty low.
Maybe all of CNNs people should take a long planned vacation until they can get their act together.
I actually missed the guy had a video thing I was busy that week-end. Did he get mad that Glen debunked that one conspiracy theory?
petunia on April 17, 2009 at 7:24 PM
Eh. The right gets the “teabagging” label. The left can have the “Dirty Sanchez” label.
(Content warning at the link.)

That is some awesome audio. “That sounds like fleeing the scene.”
Spirit of 1776 on April 17, 2009 at 7:25 PM
I see this for what it is. While espousing that right wing conservatives, are extremist nuts, hell bent on over throwing the government, the left, and all their lil helpers, are stoking this fire, in the hopes, that they will recruit other lil helpers to do their work for them. Rid the country of us, or shut us up permanently.
I’m happy, and proud to say I’m a right wing conservative, not hell bent on destroying this country, but trying to preserve her, and all she stands for, before the left does the work of destroying her, then blaming it on conservatives.

This, added to the “Taxed Enough Already” protests coverage, I will ask again………..
……… I don’t watch that network, nor MSNBC, CNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, nor pay any of the bills by buying TIME Magazine, Newsweek, nor listen to NPR.
So, if anyone has a list of advertisers that support these failing outlets, please pass it along, so I can not spend my money on them as well……..
Thanks……… in advance.

Lower than Sanchez basically accusing Beck of being a murderer?
Allahpundit on April 17, 2009 at 7:26 PM

doesn’t it get worse after that? didn’t sanchez return home and have a few more drinks so he could claim to the cops that he got drunk after the vehicular homocide?

Is that what he said?
Could I have the text and context please?

I don’t like any of it. No it’s not lower exactly but I guess I’m not sure turn about is fair play. I mean people really did die in both instances. That isn’t a joke.

Complete7 on April 17, 2009 at 7:33 PM
Well, almost everyone is influenced by corporate media at some point or another, and not everyone murders people. I don’t buy the Alex Jones connection either. That is like blaming football games if someone starts tackling people on the street.
The Dean on April 17, 2009 at 7:33 PM
Sanchez as a newsman sounds as about as accurate as a flighty 13 year old girl on her way to her 1st Jonas Brothers concert.
Marcus on April 17, 2009 at 7:33 PM
I almost felt sorry for Mr. Sanchez. Almost. In Headlines the other day this story was posted
Glenn did his “Real Science” segment from it. IT WAS GREAT!!!! Almost made me wish I was paying extra to get podcasts. Again, Almost.

You are simply going to have to separate the conservative movement from Beck, AllahP.
He is indefensible.

He said there was “no doubt” Fox News had influenced the guy who shot the cops in Pittsburgh. What do you think he was insinuating by that? He was laying responsibility for their deaths in Beck’s (and the rest of FNC) lap.
Allahpundit on April 17, 2009 at 7:35 PM
I criticize Beck plenty here, as any of our regulars will tell you. That doesn’t mean I’m obliged to stand by and let Sanchez smear Fox.

Ris4victory on April 17, 2009 at 7:40 PM
This is the kind of hard hitting turn about is fair play that desperately needs to be played out on the left over and over.
The hypocrisy on the left has to be exposed and this was done well.
Beck has a right to defend his honor against this slimy creep Sanchez.

Hah, they didn’t even actually debunk anything except that they use an allegedly nonexistant AbraSham Lincoln quote.

Sanchez is just imploying typical liberal spin: you accuse the other guy wrongly of something you’ve actually done. Like the Dems calling Republicans the culture of corruption! Or saying Sarah was glad she had a choice to abort! Or Clinton calling Star a liar and a despicable human being. (Actually Clinton was the one who perfected the spin thing. He was/is a master at it.

Fair enough. Allah is no Beck uberfan.
It is shocking what is happening at CNN. They can’t possibly think they can get there audience back by bashing FOX. MSNBC tried that.
I think it just drives people to see what all the fuss is about then when the people at FOX don’t have two heads… it discredits CNN and MSNBC. They should concentrate on fixing what is wrong with CNN.
Having just come from CNN to FOX Beck is really getting it isn’t he. They didn’t get nearly as upset when Greta joined FOX or the others.

Heres the story from the Miami Herald, November 2, 1995 on the death of the guy Sanchez ran over:
Jeffrey Smuzinick, who was left paralyzed after being struck by the car of WSVN-Channel 7 anchor Rick Sanchez, died Monday in a Pennsylvania nursing home. He was 36.
Smuzinick, a Pembroke Pines furnituremaker, was injured Dec. 10, 1990, after he ran out into traffic leaving Joe Robbie Stadium following a Dolphins football game. He was struck by 1991 Volvo driven by Sanchez.
Smuzinick suffered severe head injuries and was in a coma for many months. He underwent rehabilitation in Florida and was later moved to Greensburg, Pa., to be closer to his family.
Smuzinick recovered somewhat from his injuries, but was left partially paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. His family said he was “alert” and could feed himself up until about nine months ago, when a lung infection sent him into decline.
Sanchez was not charged with causing the accident, but was charged with DUI after a test showed his blood-alcohol level at .15, over the legal limit. Smuzinick was also legally drunk, with a blood-alcohol level of .23.
In 1991, Sanchez pleaded no contest to the charge and received a $250 fine, 50 hours of community service, suspension of his driver’s license for six months and probation.

I see, you are perfectly able to follow the logic chain to Alex Jones, but cannot see the context linkage between Sanchez opening with discussion of the recent mass murders and then moving directly to the support by Fox anchors for the second amendment.
I find it disingenuous for you to be able to find a link through multiple sites and not be willing to see the context in a single program. Sorry, but you are either a political hack that just spins whatever you like, or flat out blind.

Guess it depends on where you get your information, much of it is contradictory. Alex Jones is Grade A wierdo in my book, but I’m just a guy opining on a blog so take that with a grain.
But in advertising, it’s the perception of who someone is and what they might be involved in; witness what happens when a big time athlete gets involved in a drunk driving incident, they get dropped.
